FOR THE BILLIONTH TIME YOU DON'T NEED A SPEED CONTROLLER FOR A WEAPON!
A battle switch is what you want for your actuator.
Good luck on finding the next speedo.
well, you need some sort of dual battle switchy thing which are 20ish quid so that i can go up and down, i just preffer using an esc.
neither single or dual battleswitch will work, you can use a technobots or rc switcher but as you're building a crusher it may not be able to take the current. use an electronize 30 for the actuator.
I do get a laugh at some of the crap posted on here sometimes.
Roketrhino - a speedo is a perfectly acceptable and in some ways superior way to run an electronically actuated crusher. Depends entirely on what you want it to do
Harry - Do you know the spec of the linear actuator in use? If not then how can you say with any reasonable assertion that a 15A electronize will not handle it? The majority of store bought linear actuators I've seen will not draw more than a few amps even at stall. If it's a custom solution then the sums have to be done to be able to determine if a speedo will be able to handle it. A battleswitch doesn't handle more than 10A if I remember correctly anyway.
Lewis I'm afraid I don't have a spare 15A electronize, good luck in looking for a couple
i use a victor 883 ( a single channel speed controller) on my custom lianc best solution i have found so far
I've got a blown victor (took a shock inside hornet allowing the fets to touch and short) that i've been meaning to get around to repair for a number of years now :) Fantastic controllers!
i have got a 15a electronize on the way and was thinking of using a scorpion xl for the motors.
Wait with ordering an XL untill next week.
May 6th we'll know if a Scorpion XL-GR01 combo fullfills the wishes.
if not, a XXL does the trick.
i want to order it soon though because i have to order it from america
If you want to take the risk buying 2 expensive speedo's...
Better safe than sorry, and for ease of use I can advice , Buy the XXL. it's $50 more , but then you have a speedo that can run with the big motors too (up to 14.4V Speed 900 low gearratio).
You can get scorpian xl's and xxl's from france at www.robotshop.com
THANKS BUT IT IS RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE at least in the american one it was 65 quid
if that is ridiculosly expensive, you are in the wrong sport :uhoh:
what i mean is it is expensive compared to other places where i could get them from
I may be able to spend a lot on robots but I still consider 65 quid to be a lot of money. Easy up on the negative comments

Or any other combination of those 3 basics.
well i need it ready for the Portsmouth roaming robots event so i might order the scorpion now and the rest later so i can get everything in one go
dont forget to add import tax and postage to the cost if you are getting it from the us..
Perhaps it may be useful to know Gabriel has 2* 14.4v GR01 drive motors (running at 12v,) and the speed controller is the Sabertooth 12A from Technobots.
I will be hopefully giving it a good test tomorrow but you can see from the video on the build thread that the speedo seems to cope quite well. cost just under £50.
i was going to get a sabretooth but everybody advised me not to and i didnt want to risk it
This demonstrates the capability of the Scorpion XL to power the 9.6V GR01 units @ 3S LiPo with whopping big 170mm wheels
