anyone recommend me a good actuator for a vertical crusher?
A well engineered home made one is always going to be a better solution
good paint gary, what would you say a good motor is for one? something a bit better than a drill motor but not overly sure what
Well what is your budget? The ideal is something with a huge amount of torque like a magmotor (think they're called ampflow motors nowadays) but one of those will be around the £250 mark!
forgot that bit, a magmotor would be nice, but it would cost more than the robot :lol:
i would way about £50 for the motor, would be great to have a massive motor but I cant really justify much more on it
though what about the E-150 mag?

You mean ratio? Well as crazy as you can get without it being so slow it's useless. Greater reduction = more torque = more crushability.
it depends on the pitch of the rod you're using. you'd have to work out a good mix between crushing ability and speed. a speed 900 on 24v will give plenty of power, the main challenge of building an effective crusher is getting a sturdy enough frame.
That's why I am thinking a commercial actuator as getting all the ratio correct and pivots will be very difficult, might try and find a alright 12v actuator and run 18v through it
