Robots Live are pleased to announce we will be returning to Scotland! Robots Live will be the main attraction at the National Museum of Flight near Edinburgh. We will running 3-4x 45minute shows a day underneath Concord!
We will be taking an 8x8 meter version of the arena, along with Mechanoid, Battleaxe and the pay to drives (running free play at this event).
If anybodies interested in attending. We should also be able to take some robots up with us, so if you€™re able to either drop them off with us, or leave them after the prior event, we might be able to squeeze them in the van/truck.

That sign up link doesn't seem to be working Alan :(

Re: 17th June - Robots Live@National Museum of Flight, Scotl
Count us in, will be booking accommodation shortly now it's confirmed. I'll leave signing up until later as I don't yet know how many/what robots we'll be taking. Should be a big collective effort from the Scots at least this year 8)

Got a mate who thinks he can compete with Rover, so will sign that up too and if he makes it he can have a go. Should be there in force anyway as Jamie says, and hopefully we'll have Eric ready.

If I'm not offshore I'll nip along and if typhoon 2 is ready by then I'll bring that along too. Don't have any bots running atm fullstop nor anything that could run here so i will be merely turning up and saying hi if i make it :)

Re: 17th June - Robots Live@National Museum of Flight, Scotl

Hopefully it will be more entertaining than the first one we saw there :).

Re: 17th June - Robots Live@National Museum of Flight, Scotl
I think there will be a guy I know who will want to turn up with his Battle Rat, what is the ruling on these competing with the feathers? Its completely standard as the come out of the packaging with the spring flipper.
The only thing I can think that it won't have is the LED power light, but transparent so you can see from the ESC that the power is on/off and given that it isn't all that powerful (on the grand scale of things) is it ok to go along unmodified?

Re: 17th June - Robots Live@National Museum of Flight, Scotl
Only just seen your post Tony, i think he has signed up. No problem with him running it, as long as they understand it might not last long!
We're stopping at our usual B&B in North Berwick, for those that are looking to stop. We will be doing the usual arrive mid-day on the Saturday to setup, then look at doing something at night, last year we ended up on a random walk around the town, maybe look at bowling again though if anybodies up for it.

Re: 17th June - Robots Live@National Museum of Flight, Scotl
I had forgot I even posted it.
Thats cool, I did think it would be ok. He has signed up as far as I know and has bought/is looking at buying a set or two of aluminium armour panels that will maybe last a bit longer than the polycarb.
I'm sure if they're getting really heavily damaged the likes of Little Hitter will be a bit nicer to him than the rest of us anyway

Storm Force has been signed up, I'll be doing the usual dropping off SF on the Saturday and helping with putting up the stage.
It would also be great if you were able to do bowling at fountainpark as I couldn't the last time due to a family wedding being on the same evening.
Cheers
Liam

Re: 17th June - Robots Live@National Museum of Flight, Scotl
Still don't know what we're doing with regards to travel and robots. Was originally planning on travelling through on Sunday morning as it's my mum's birthday on the Saturday, but bowling is tempting so will need to speak with the old man and see about maybe coming through late Saturday afternoon.
Will sign up when I've worked out what robots we'll be bringing. Carcinus will be there for sure, but need to decide what I want to play with. Got a choice between an MDF bot, a LP flipper or an electric axe, all of which still need to be built. Unless you fancy letting spinners run Alan

Booked in to The Wing B&B in North Berwick. Had hoped to pop along in the afternoon to help with the arena, but I've got a birthday lunch for my mum on the Saturday so chances are we won't be in the area till about 7pm or 8pm. Can meet up if you're all still about, but could be a bit late for us to join in bowling if that's happening.
Going to hopefully get a fair amount of botwork done over the weekend so will have a better idea of what we'll be signing up by the time ole Liz is necking 60 shots.

Re: 17th June - Robots Live@National Museum of Flight, Scotl
Is anyone attending this event AND Guildford and would be willing to transport a few parts for some people who have bought some bits and pieces ? Just a couple of motors and potentially an actuator or two.
I'm attending this, but not Guildford - so it would help people save on some shipping £££
Let me know, here or PM
Cheers

Ooh, will Storm 2 be accompanying you to Edinburgh? One of the robots I'd like to see but haven't managed to yet :)

Re: 17th June - Robots Live@National Museum of Flight, Scotl
Been thrown around England this week by work so only just had time to look back on things from last weekend.
First of all, thanks once again to the Robots Live crew for coming to visit us north of the border! It was the third year in a row the event has taken place and every time I attend, it feels like hardly any time has passed since the last one. The museum folk were saying that attendance had doubled compared to the previous year (which itself was a busy day!) so here's hoping we'll all be visiting again next year :)
Was nice helping Tony to get Eric up and running in the arena for what I believe was its first battle since it lost to Splinter in the Series 4 heat final. Okay we got pummeled by the English, but since Storm Force went out the arena before Eric was immobilised, Tony's claiming that as victory to become the current Scottish Number 1! (until Gary gets Smidsy running again  )
Thanks to everyone who was there for making it an enjoyable day, and thanks to Alan for letting me drive Merlin (badly) in the final HW fight.

And only got a couple of videos this year. First up, Eric's fight:

Can't have armour and wheels on at the same time at the moment, so we chose wheels

Re: 17th June - Robots Live@National Museum of Flight, Scotl
A choice between armour and wheels? hahaha, sounds like Bitza Mk2's 2012 championship!

Re: 17th June - Robots Live@National Museum of Flight, Scotl
Just shows us what we've got to work on for next year. In hindsight, we probably shouldn't have focused on T-Bone so muchon our build weekend, we didn't even end up using it for the Chariots event, and got Eric going properly, but never mind. At the very least it's confirmed some suspicions we had about the robot's future.
