TX/RX - Failsafe - Mixing .....How do you do it?.....help
All,
I'm getting a planet 5 2.4ghz transmitter and receiver (from a firend for nothing - so can't argue) however I can't get my head around the whole failsafe idea that is required per the build rules.
The robot has to failsafe when it looses signal, but can someone give me advice with regards to how I actually get it to do it physically.
I will be using electronize esc x 2
planet 5 2.4 ghz set
I know other shave built in failafe but I don't have a clue when setting it up with a planet 5 tx, do I need to by something else like a stand alone fail safe?
Also can someone link me to where I can get a good mixer?
Thanks
Billy

Would this mixer be ok to use with a planet 5 and electronize esc?

Yes that's the most popular one used

Link?
May have to look into getting one if the half throws on our DX5 prove too restrictive.

i just took the drual rates off my spectrum so its perminantly in high

I have the Planet 5 transmitter/receiver combo going into that same mixer into 2x 30a Electronize speed controllers. If I run the motors and turn off the transmitter, it's not instant (takes a second or so) but it kills it. It failsafes. I didn't have to do anything other than plug them all together as you'd expect to. It works for me so it should in theory work for you.

How do you do that?

What he said.
drual rates?
I think I've heard this before and it may be a DX6 thing only.

so- to get the bot to failsafe using a planet 5 system you just turn the tx off? ?I take it that by doing this it complies with the build rules then?

Re: TX/RX - Failsafe - Mixing .....How do you do it?.....hel
Failsafing is one of those things that is a mystery.......
Bitza Mk1 fail safed, but I haven't the foggiest why.
Spinza, with a dedicated failsafe, refused to until I changed it to a ESC that didn't have one, then it did.....
In short, if you turn the Tx off with the throttle held on and the bot stops then your good. If not then consult then gods or something....

Re: TX/RX - Failsafe - Mixing .....How do you do it?.....hel
some ESC have a built in failsafe so thats why some robots failsafe with a t5 whilst others dont

Just got to get it up and running and then see how it goes.lol.

I've been looking at the rules again (i should do this more often really) and its says that a light must be displayed when the bot is in failsafe. Can I ask how people have done this. There is of course a power light but how do you wire up a led for when the bot is in failsafe?

Re: TX/RX - Failsafe - Mixing .....How do you do it?.....hel
Thats a recommendation, I don't bother with that.

Re: TX/RX - Failsafe - Mixing .....How do you do it?.....hel
That's been in the rules for ages, but as far as I'm aware it's advisory only. I've certainly never seen it enforced and can't imagine it'd be a simple addition in the same way a power LED is.

thats what I was thinking seems like alot of work, thanks for clearing that up.

Re: TX/RX - Failsafe - Mixing .....How do you do it?.....hel
Any info on removing the half throws from a DX5E?
-
Re: TX/RX - Failsafe - Mixing .....How do you do it?.....hel
You mean on the transmitter mix?
I believe that a seperate V tail mixer sorts that problem out.
-
Re: TX/RX - Failsafe - Mixing .....How do you do it?.....hel
Yes I do, and just trying to avoid incorporating additional components, would be nice if I could just use the Tx.
-
Re: TX/RX - Failsafe - Mixing .....How do you do it?.....hel
Give up and buy a V tail mixer.

Re: TX/RX - Failsafe - Mixing .....How do you do it?.....hel
Can anyone tell me where I can get a metal bezel thatll hold a 8mm led
-
Re: TX/RX - Failsafe - Mixing .....How do you do it?.....hel
Does the GWS mixer work with spektrum dsm2 radio gear?
-
Re: TX/RX - Failsafe - Mixing .....How do you do it?.....hel
you could always make one yourself quite easily, do you have access to the lathe?
-
Re: TX/RX - Failsafe - Mixing .....How do you do it?.....hel
I dont anymore jonny. I can find plenty of plastic bezels for 8mm leds but no metal ones.
I think the mixer would only be of benefit if using q four channel where you can control both driving channels on the one stick.
