what bore LP ram do you think would be best for a HW?
M2 and THz do well with 100mm bore rams.
would an 80mm bore ram at 10-12 bar be ok? trouble is the one ive got it a bit too large (400mm stroke)
With the right setup, the 80*400 is a very powerfull ram. But you'll need FLOW, lots of it.
Best ways to achieve high flow are?
big valves, big buffers, big pipes. Cheapest way to get high flow valves is to use Woody's QEV system.
I bet it's out there but how can I achieve that system?

The push lock on the QEV is ment to be connected to the buffertank.

And I tought I had Korsakov....
i used a 100x180mm cylinder in Turbulence running 16bar and it worked petty well...same setup as shown by mario but i used a second regulator to reduce the pressure on the down stroke to 8bar.

I'm on Matt's side! I read pretty much every Pneumatics related post on this forum and still I'm pretty clueless as to how it works. That could in part be because I'm not making an Pneumatic bot so not bothering to absorb the info, but things like why in the photo there are 4 pipes going to cylinder only confuse me further.........
I was only asking a question about bore size, I understand all the pneumatic set up etc, I was just unsure of how large I needed to go

PJ, trust me, it's much easier to follow when you've got at least some pneumatic bits in your hands!
I too have read almost every pneumatic-related post over the years and not taken much in (mainly because I had no interest in building one) but when I got my hands on some parts, I re-read a few of the threads and things became much clearer! There are still a few questions I'll have when I get round to assembling my pneumatics, so I'm planning on putting them all in one thread and keeping things concise, so hopefully it should make things easier to follow in future :)
Wasn't talking about you PJ, but you can side with who ever, I take the opinion of I'll ask as long as I need to understand something

@ Jamie I can imagine that is very true, I'm very much a learner by doing. What Pneumatic plans have you got? I know a while back you mentioned naming an Axe bot. I only remember because you wanted to name it after something from LOTR, the Grond!
Yeah you can't beat a bit of learning by doing, probably why I failed so many uni subjects :P
Still got the axe bot plans for Grond, but I posted a rough parts picture a while back for a pneumatic robot. Got most of the stuff for a low-pressure FW, going to be based on a popular Robot Wars contestant but keeping things under wraps for now :wink:
