I don't get it. You need an adaptor to do what?
The CO2 nut thread is a bastard, bigger than the 1/2 bsp thread, but with 14TPI like the 1/2 bsp.
The Trevor Reg has a 7/8 x 14tpi UNF thread.
Ok thanks Trev,
Maddox - I need to make an adapter that goes between my bottle with side entry adapter http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lot-2-x-CO2-A ... 2a13e3d470 and the reg
The bottle adapter had a 1/8 NPT outlet and the reg has a 7/8 UNF inlet.
so, i need to make an adpter that goes between them.
The side of the adapter that screws into the bottle adapter will have a 1/8 NPT thread and the other side of the adapter that screws to the reg will have a 7/8 UNF thread.
The cost for all the dies will be high, and I think it would be cheaper to get a new bottle that screws directly to the regulato.
What kind of bottles do people use?
Would a fire extinguisher work? If so where can I get a .5kg one?
I think Jonno has got access to them
You just need arefill station.
That is easely solved, any serious paintball shop sells those.
Also, if you want a refill station to fill normal CO2 bottles, there is only 1 difference, in stead of those adaptors for paintball bottles, you use CO2 nuts.
I found a way of not spending much money :)
Im going to take the pin valve off the bottle and make an adapter
The bottle thread is 5/8 - 14 UNF so im goig to make an adapter that will be 5/8-14 UNF to 1/4 BSP
The 1/4 BSP will screw into a on/off ball valve and then I will have another adapter that will be 1/4 BSP to 7/8 UNF that will screw from the ball valve to the reg.
Will this work?
Possibly, but it's convulted, heavy and leakprone.
Also, you don't have much options for bottles.
For heavies, the standard fire extinguiser from 1.1kg to XX kg with screw or push valve with DIN norm thread.
Feathers have 2 options. Most older and UK based feathers use an adapted 20 oz bottle with a heavyweight screw valve.
On the other hand, we see a movement to paintball valves, preferably with on/off valve, and not pinvalve.
These are standard for the bottlesize (from 3.5 to 24 oz) lighter, compacter and fo the job equaly well.
So, what bottle goes in the robot, and what one do you want to use to refill the robotbottle?
If your regulator is not directly connected to the bottle you will also require a T piece and a 1000psi pressure relief device.Quote:

I would recommend using a bottle with an on/off valve rather than a pin valve.
Would I still need this if my system is got a max pressure of up to 1000psi and where could i get one?Quote:

This means the Low Pressure relief valve will handle any overpressure issues downstream the regulator.
Once you start adding more parts between bottle and reg, you need both pressure relief valves. One on the FP side, and 1 on the LP side, set at the lowest pressure rating of parts in your setup.
ok so would i need on if my system if it goes bottle-on off valve(rated @1000psi)-reg
then after the reg I will have a 10 bar PRV beacuse the lowest rating for the parts in my system is 10 bar
made a diagram of the system.

Simple, elegant solution, change the pin valve on the paintball bottle, and change the CO2 nut on the Trevor.
Simplest solution, pay somebody to do it.
Then there is no need for an expensive adaptor, nor any tap or die I don't have.
change the pin valve to what kind of valve?
What should I change the nut on the reg to aswell?
You can replace the Pinvalve with an On/off valve for a paintball bottle.
One of the pin valve filling pieces you have can be adapted to the Trevor. Otherwise, a fitting replacement nut isn't difficult to make, just takes time.
Actualy, if you fit one of those pinvalve adaptors directly to the Trevor, and use it with the pin valve bottle...
The knob is good enough to fill the place of required isolation valve.
Again, not that difficult, but takes time...
This is getting a bit complicated..........
The Trevor reg is designed to fit directly to the standard CO2 bottles. For feathers it is better to use the 600g bottles with a screw top available from Jonno at around £40. You will save weight as there is no requirement for a ball valve, the re-filling stations are set up with CO2 fittings and you can weigh the gas as you fill it.
There is also the need for a 1000psi relief if the Trevor reg is not directly fitted to the bottle, this was discussed at length by the FRA committee before I decided to sell them to roboteers. The same rule applies btw to welding regulators.
I know you are trying to save some cash and I have every sympathy having done it myself from day one. But one lesson I learned the hard way was that buying parts that have been designed to compliment each other saves money in the long term, because they work.........
This is not a rant nor am I drumming up business for Jonno. It has been proven to work for over 5 years now....
Trev
That is the simplest solution of it all. Takes no extra work.
OK thanks guys,
I have found the valve that is the same as jonno's and im going to ring the place to see if they can get the right fittings for me
