robot
Hi again guys. After a long think im going to buid a antweight to get into robotics then hopefully near christmas i'll start building a featherweight. I've looked at pneumatics for a flipper and thought it was too much and too complicated for a first bot, so im gonna build a ram bot (measuring 40cmX30cmX15cm) with a ramp on the front.
the frame is gonna be made out of wood and the amour is going to be 6mm nylon 6.
for speedos I dont know what to get out of the electronize FR15HVR or the sabertoothdual 25a which is better :?:
I'm using 12v cordless drill motors(already been ruining my dads old drills He He..).
Ill use my Spektrum DX5e for my ant and subscribe to RCM&E (im into RC Planes) and get a free Planet 5 transmiter then buy the reciever for my FW.
Icould go cheap and buy these wheels http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWAX:IT
or buy 2 blue wheels with nut insert and 2 ball bearings.
Thanks

Re: robot
those wheels http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWAX:IT won't fit on to drill motors directly but the Robo Challenge €˜Blue wheels€™ with nut insert. will. http://web.me.com/robochallenge/Robo_Ch ... nical.html (3rd down)
the ebay wheels are cheep so you could buy them and use them for something else.

Re: robot
If you're building a simple pusher with 2 or 4 drills you will have loads of weight left over with wood and 6mm nylon armour - not to mention that if you're thinking of entering an event which has spinners running, 6mm of nylon will put up about as much resistance to a heavy spinning blade as a bunch of slightly damp tissue paper.
In other words, get yourself thick plates of a decent aluminium alloy (15mm+ of a 7000 series will do), or some hardox or a similar toughened alloy steel. There are plenty of people on here with some knocking about.

Re: robot
i wont be entering events with spinners and i could put aliminum on the outside of the armour as reinforcement.

Re: robot
I would have it less than 100mm tall so you can use 100mm blue wheels so they stick out the top and bottom so you can drive up side down

Re: robot
that is a good idea alex and i have thought about what happened if i got flipped ands talked to my dad about it i could make 90mm high but at that kind of hight the ramp wont have enough angle to make robots go airborne.

Re: robot
you could shorten the ramp
