Electrical problem in new bot
hi all
we have decided to make a new robot (my dads) we are using 2 12v drill motors and their batteries. but i wired it all up but it didnt work,
the batteries were charged, there was voltage at the motors so the spedd controllers are suppling the power for the motors and the rx. but no power seems to be getting to the rx and therefore nothing will work.
we have checked everything, just used one battery and motor and even tried a SLA, but nothing.
WHAT TO DO?
cheers alex

What speedos are you using?
You reliying on the speedo supplying power to your RX or do you have a seperate battery for the RX?
is the servo wires and (rx battery) connected to the RX the right way round?

Do the speed controllers have BECs (battery eliminator circuits)?

the ones im using are from tech bots
and yes the wires are correctly connected

have you connected the two wires coming our of the one with the bec(normally orange) together?

Ummmm ..........It may seem that way but a wiring error is often the cause.
Have you tried with a receiver battery and without the BECs connected ?
Its possible your receiver / transmitter may be faulty.......have you checked that it all works with a standard servo and battery setup?

Troubleshooting! First thing to do is to reduce everything to seperate units and make sure each of them works. So:
-Plug your receiver into a servo and see if the transmitter operates the servo.
You said: no power seems to be getting to the rx and therefore nothing will work
Try running the receiver on its own
battery and see if that solves the problem.
Things often dont work the first time. Often the answer is easy but it does not appear that way. (Ive been unhappy with a robot that fails to respond only to find that that the transmitter and receiver cystals were not on the same frequency). Your problem may be an easy one you have not yet cracked. Keep trying.

I agree with John on this one, the problem is usually something very simple which will be easy to sort but difficult to track down.
If you are using a BEC from the speedos, did you see if a voltage was coming from it to the receiver?

hi all and thanks
the reciever and transmitter im sure isnt faultly because it from Psycho fling.
im sorry but i havent a clue what BEC is or what is does?
thanks again alex

good news
we have managed to get it working forward, reverse, righ and left. but only with a external battery box for the reciever. can these be used in battles as it has it own switch?
thanks
