Bring me up to speed on robotic combat please.
I thought Id check the forum out again for the first time in over a year. Nice to see that theres a good few roboteers still posting.
Where are we in terms of events - which are the biggest? I assume that none of them in the UK or USA are televised anymore?
What about the popularity of the sport (yes I regard it as a sport not an enterntainment show for kiddies)?
The big US guys like Biohazard, Team Mutant Robots, Team Cool Robots, Nightmare etc all retired? Seen a lot of Sewer Snake and Megabyte.

Damn Ive just seen the pictures from Bio vs Brutality at ComBots 2005. That looked like a huge event - the big US guys took part.
Karcas 2 is from Team Mutant Robots right?

The machines over here are every bit equal to
any machines around today ,and most fight very regularly,on the open circuit,:angry:}

In the UK, as here in the states Robot Combat is still around and going strong! the UK has event on a very regular basis and do combined event(or piggy back event)a competition at a larger fair or other event. In the USA and Canada you can find about 8 to 10 all weight class events a year and a ton of the ant weight events through out the year! I believe the Uk bots have surpassed the US in the amount of, and quality of the pnuematic bots, I think in the US we dont fight as often and the fights are shorter (3 minutes)but we have developed into more big spinners and less creative designs (Which I think Sucks!!!)
To fight in the the states you have to be ready to fight Bots like Megabyte, Shrederater, tombstone, Brutality, and more that im forgeting
at every event. The UK has some awesome spinners and crushers and I hope they come out and play and we are able (and very much planning ) to come over and play on your side of the pond.
So I dont think either bots are better or worse but a they are a little different, and some more different then others!!! :uhoh:

Dear Matt,
Thanks for your contribution - Ive been very impressed by Sewer Snakes record. Im surprised at how it manages to beat a FBS like Megabyte, what is that scoop at the front made out of Hardox or something? In addition, a lot of US bots still have the open-wheeled design (a characteristic I remember from years ago see Minion etc) and although spinners are fantastic to watch I can agree that you need some more flippers and other weapons thrown in for good measure (the axe on the Judge for example).

Nope its titanium. It is a very impressive robot, just a shame we never got to battle in the states!
