an my question is: can i use victor 883:s for EV warriors, or do i need 885:s?

Talking to US builders the Victor 883s should be fine with a decent gearing like 6:1 with 6 dia. wheels at 24v for example which should give you a estimate of around 15mph.
What dia. wheels do you have planned and at what gearing ...?

We had a tubby feather weight, 13.5kg, alright for the american rules, powered by 2 EV Warriors running at 12V with a 4:1 reduction onto 200mm wheels and from what I could remember from the Annihilator the Victor 883s only just got warm.
Were you going to run yours at 12 or 24V?
im planning to use about 6-8:1 wormgearing with 75mm gear pinion to tracks
so would it be ok?
and i put 24v to those motors.
stall pushing power with 6:1 ratio would be 320kg
(or 160kg for a single track)

By drilling the damn thing full of holes. About 500 1/2 holes in the UHMW frame, wheels, sprokets and ali bash plate and it still ended up 1.5kg over the limit and having its 2.3ah battery go flat after only 1 minute of solid driving. Thats one feather being re-built as a light weight.

You guys just need to go to 3/8 chain and sprockets, and get a single 14.4v battle pack from Robotcombat! Then youll be in the limit and ready to rumble again.
Hi again, does anybody know what kind of batteries would be good for running 2x EV warriors (1:6 reduction to 80mm track sprocket) and a linear actuator, how much capacity do i need for 3min match and would NI-MH packs give enough current?

Ni-mh packs will only give enough if you choose the right brands and capacity range.
I personally use 3300mah GP cells on my featherweight, and so do many other people. GP cells are one of the best Ni-mh cell types around and far out-perform standard Ni-mh cells.
3300mah ni-mh cells may not be enough for 2 EV warriors though- as the tracks will probably cause them to draw a large amount of current- depending on the gearing you use. If you can get packs bigger than 3300mah, then great, but be aware that they may not perform as well as smaller yet more expensive cells.
Should you need to source extra-large amounts of current, ni-cad cells will have to do. Sanyo are usually best. You should be looking for 3000mah minimum ni-cad cells.
Well first off Ni-mh will not give enough current. Secondly its difficult to know how much capacity you will need.
Are you running the Ev warriors at 24v or at 12. Is the linear actuator motor big or small. How close will the robot be to stall when just running around.
From a rough guess you are going to need atleast 3amp of Ni-cds just to supply the current.
