LED unit

Jag sljer nu helt frdigbyggda LED enheter fr anvndande i robotar. Detta r ett enkelt stt att f roboten godknd fr dom nya reglerna frn FRA.
Varje enhet r inbyggd i en lda av ljusgr ABS plast (50mm x 17mm x 35mm).
Det gr att kpa ngon av nedanstende versioner:

1. 10mm Rf LED, £5.00
2. 10mm Grn LED, £5.00
3. 5mm Bl LED, £7.00 (bla LEDs kostar mycket mer n de vanligare frgerna)

Alla de ovanstende har en £0,50 frakt kostnad inom Europa.

Alla tre versioner har fljande egenskaper:

- Dom kan drivas frn 5-36V (40V max).
- Dom har skydd mot omvnd polaritet.
- Dom r s gott som imuna mot elektromagnetiska strningar.
- Dom kan enkelt fstas med tv 4 mm skruvar (inkluderat)
- En manual med full installations instruktioner medfljer.

Fr er som vill veta hur detta gick till, Ewan ville vara lite rolig och skriva ett inlgg p svenska p vran del av forumet, s jag gav honom lite hjlp med att verstta. Jag trodde dock inte att han faktiskt skulle gra det!

Am I correct when I say that it is just a LED, some plastic and a non-switched regulator?

I dont really see the need for such a device. A single LED costs just a fraction of your price, and a resistor is not expencive.....

Also, since this is supposed to be a part in safety systems, is it really wise to use anything but led and resistor? That extra electronics could fail, and cause the led to go out, which is potentially dangerous.

The whole point of this unit is it is safer than just a resistor and LED. The regulator will keep the LED at a constant brightness until the main power goes less than 5v. With a resistor, the LED would drop out much before then...

Ok, I had not thought of that....well, I will still be making my own (could build 10 for that money).

I think that it is a very good price considering the components and the box.
On the other hand, it is less expensive to just use an LED and resistor. I will also stick to making it myself.
