RC transmitter receiver
Now i know what i am about to say is probably very obvious to the most of you however for me i just cannot get my head around it.
Now i have a 4 Chanel 2.4 GHZ transmitter receiver set, a battery, 2x30A ESC's and 2 motors.
As far as i am concerned when i connect them all up and switch on the transmitter then receiver then i should have a RC robot.
What i want is for each of the two joysticks to operate one of the wheels so if i push both forward both wheels go forward likewise for backwards. If i push one forwards and one backwards it should turn on the spot. For the moment i do not care less about the sideways movement on the joysticks (one thing at a time).
My problem being that this does not happen, only one of the channels manages to move the wheel and when it does it is in a weird way were in that the joystick in its rest position is the motor running at mid speed with pushing up to slow/stop it and down to make it go full speed, the rest of the channels do not appear to do a thing.
So basically what i thought was a plug and play system has turned out to be a pain in the arse.
I assume that it is just me being an idiot and it is something super obvious however that's what i need to be told. Does anyone know what is going on and if so how i can sort it.

First up, can you link a website concerning each component? Transmitter, receiver and esc.
Sounds to me like you got yourself an esc that can only go forwards and that your transmitter is set to inverted.
Won't know for sure untill you link every item.

It is to do with mixing on the transmitter. Depending on what transmitter you have Tank style control may or may not be possible. Most drivers learn to use the single stick drive, usually the right stick for elevator and aileron, and then stick with that as it is the easiest to set up and it leaves yours other hand free to control weapons and other variables.
What transmitter do you have, what receiver and what channels are you using on your RX?

it is a Dynam 2.4 GHZ 4 Chanel recever and reansmiter http://www.dynam-rc.com/products/tra...r/2.4G-4ch.htm and the only Chanel i can get anything from at the moment is the throttle and ho would i set it up to do a single stick that sounds like it would involve some kind of programming... their is a port on the controller for a lead that may plug into a laptop however i have no idea how to do this.

The port on the back is probably a trainer port so it is possible to connect it to a PC but its really not worth it. Is there any reason you are set on using the twin stick driving method because looking at what little information they provide I reckon its not possible to set the transmitter up like that without rewiring it.

no no i am all for a one stick driving method i just thought it would be more complicated. and i have no idea how to do it with one stick. and yeah, re-wiring is definitely something i would be keen to avoid having to do

After a quick look at the transmitter, are all the switches on the lower part set to on?

Yeah they are and i have had a good look inside and outside the transmitter their are no other switches, the only other thing of note i can think of is that on the receiver their is a small screw like switch with a plus and a negative side with EXTENT written on it like tighten for plus and loosen for negative? i don't know if that is relevant.

Those speed controllers/ESCs you've got are designed for use in RC planes, which means they go in one direction only and offer no reverse I'm afraid. So you won't be able to have full fwd/back/left/right control of your robot.
