Hydraulics
I'm trying to get Eric up and running again over the weekend with the help of our newly reunited team and Jamie of Drumroll fame (or is that infamy? ) and looking at getting some help replacing/repairing a component that I stupidly have broken.
Along with removing the accumulator and replacing the electrics I have managed to puncture what I believe is the reservoir, but as I am not sure of the exact name of it I am struggling to find a replacement.

The one I am talking about is the black container with the white screw on lid in the bottom right of the picture.
Hopefully someone can identify it for me :?
Cheers,
Tony

Re: Hydraulics
hi tony, I know nothing on hydraulic but isnt it all similar to car brakes :?:
where the plastic resovoir is at the top of the system under no pressure at all
and any container would do the job :?:
you can even use the car brakes without any lid on the resovoir aswell,
I have actually forgot before and left off the lid while testing, but the lid was still on the engine
when I lifted the bonnet

Re: Hydraulics
What's the difference between Eric and a Giraffe?
-
Re: Hydraulics
Ahh I see, cheers Terry :) so I could just pick one up from a scrapyard from a car then? Just so it has all the correct threads etc.
Lots of things PJ, but what one in particular did you have in mind?

Re: Hydraulics
Well Eric has hydraulics....

Re: Hydraulics
Wait, giraffes don't have hydraulics?! So how do they move?!
This is incredible news, should we tell the public?

Re: Hydraulics
As Terry said thats just your tank/bladder whatever you want to call it, and its under no real preassure... get a picture of the bit you poped a hole in... you might just be able to glue it back up.

Re: Hydraulics
Cheers Dave, here is a few photos:

The hole is near the white cap on the tank, hopefully its easy enough to see. Reckon that would be ok just glue gunning it up?

Re: Hydraulics
Why don't I like the combination of soft flexible reservoir, oil and a halogen lightbulb?
On the reservoir. Glue-gunning won't help. Best bet is to replace it with the bladder of an accumulator(most hydraulic users), or like in Tiberius and Mantis, a piston-tank.

Re: Hydraulics
Gaffer tape? That fixes everything!
