Whats the aluminium in the stats for? :proud:
Looks quite good apart from that, bit Biohazardish.
with 2x LEM200s ur gonna be overweight at that size
Could I make it any smaller, or would drilling loads holes in the arm do the trick?
OK, Ive been thinking about my walking robot idea a little bit more.
1: I intend my walking mechanism to be like Clawed Hopper, or Gammatron. Regardless of whether that counts as a walker these days, what do you reckon would be needed to power it?
2: Weaponary is a big issue here. I have two ideas here...either a flywheel of some description, or a large overhead spinning bar (a bit like Gammatron). Any thoughts?
3: What would be good protection for keeping robots away? Im currently thinking of a cage, a bit like Tornados, but smaller, just so its difficult to flip over, but Im not sure if that will be easily workable. Any hints? I considered skirts, but I didnt think thatd be practical with the bouncy behaviour.
I know this sounds silly, but Id like to have at least one unusual robot in my team.
Youd just need two motors, I think, one to power each rim...for weaponry, you could go the MDU route and go for an outer shell spinner, but thatd just be MDU :P
Either way, go for something spinny since I cant see it being able to self right very well, and the gyro forces should resist flipping. As for protection, if you had a big spinning thing around the perimeter of your robot thatd be protection enough :proud: but you could incorporate the ability to sit down with a couple linear actuators - your mobility is gone, but youre effectively flipper and rammer proof.
If you really want something unusual, I could always give you Brown Trousers Time - a physics-defying time-warp-creating spinner is pretty unusual by anyones standards :proud:
Actually, youd just need one motor to power it, although the question of how youre going to steer has struck me.
Again, for steering, I plan to use, once more, a Clawed Hopper/Gammatron style of turning. Basically, a little turning mechanism so it can turn on the spot.
Right. And youre aware that all this will leave almost no weight for armour and not be classed as a walker?
Hang on, Im a little confused...since when? And for that matter, what WOULD make it a walker? Maybe if, instead of one big walking mechanism, I had two mini-mechanisms? That would allow it to turn.
