once i got my camera working again a will, but its now just all grey so nothing exciting :)
Big update!
Long story short, ive swapped SMIDSY for Grim Reaper with calum jones of team trouble so will have that driving before whitwick, hopfully have the disk spinning as well. Will get some pics once it looks like something ;)
got too spot the side panel back, attach the side/front panels, re-attach the wheels and disk, once ive done all that, ill post some pics up
Nice one Matt :) It'll be nice once you get it running again.
yeah it will, hope you get X-terminator running soon :)
you are aware that you cannot run the disc at events (at any speed)?
ye, but it would be nice to have it as original as possible, and the potential to spin up ;)
What weapons is it gonna have, a scoop? or are you gonna try something else?
its currently just a flat front, but im sure ill do something else. just want too get it running first :)
hows the crazy double ended feather spinner going?
put on hold while i get smidsy running but its getting there, gradually getting parts :)
got the discs yet?
got one, tracked down another one, just got too get it in possetion
There ya go Matt, uploaded your pic of Smidsy for you, I know how much trouble you have uploading pictures :)
Glad to see it's still got the Smidsy logo on top.
SMIDSY looks good in the pic :)
Also Mike, hows the resurecting coming on for X-Terminator and Gripper?
Along with Steel Avenger & Mr Nasty, I'm looking forward to seeing them at Barnsley m8 :)
Liam, X-Terminator and Gripper are coming along okay, been focuisng most of my effort on X-t, gonna work on Gripper after I get X-t running. Hopefully I'll have X-t running by Barnsley, just got to try and finish the pneumatics.
Wish I could make this event now :(
what happened to smidsy's hardox shell?
Jonno took it off an replaced it to keep it in weight with the disk but he has most of it so I'll take the disk off and make it stronger. Would rather have it strong and survive than have the disk but get destroyed
Nice to see everything coming along nicely. God one of these days I'll have to drag my backside over to yours Matt, or
you can drag me over yourself. No bother which way.
I'm so damn lazy! I actually need to pull my finger from where the sun dont shine and get a move on.
Too right you do! :) lol
Once I got smidsy up, come over and have a drive before whitwick :)
i think this deserves to go here

Holy crap, when did this happen?
 And now it's not even moving. Think it's the batteries, had lots of trouble with batteries in the past. Oh yeah, and didn't get much of a chance to test the pneumatics before it ran out of gas. Everything's fixable though, it WILL be fixed in time for Barnsley :)
If your batteries are old, chance are their not up to it anymore, i have some old hawkers, the charge fine and are ok for running low power stuff like the Daleks, Mechanoids etc, but cant supply any big current for fighting bots anymore, and pushing them will just flatten them very quickly.
Just had another look at SA, and I think it's the recievers battery that's the problem (again), not the main ones, however, we tried to test drive Mr Nasty earlier, and although the wheels turn fine when it's on it's cradle, when it's placed on the ground it wont move, I'm guessing this is due to the main batteries (3 10 year old Hawkers) not being up to it?
most probably, best thing is to measure the voltage with nothing running, then try and measure the voltage when under load (can be difficult to do safely). Don't know what charger your using, but might be worth getting a 12v low current (couple of amps) and charging each battery seperatly, make sure they all get a full charge.
chortle chortle.
as ive got the weight spare on my feather, after a little advice
stick with my 8mm hdpe lid and base or swap it out for a 10mm polycarb lid and base?
Running ReAvenger at whitwick then it's going, too many design flaws
So, ReAvenger v2 is on it's way, 4wd 12v Argos drills at 18v, vertical crusher
Will have some resemblance to plunderbird 5, but is being built in such a way that if flipped, can still drive about on it's back wheels with a hinged wedge
Will Hopfully be 3mm Hardox sides and front, steel base and back and polycarb lid (if I have enough weight steel)
Should be a fairly quick build as I have most if the parts, may even have the 4wd section ready for the FW champs but it's being designed in such a way as the claw can be detached and run as a invertable box wedge
My champs qualifyers:
Q1: Johnny 2 x 4 v Reavenger v Mini Mighty Mouse = :D
Q2: Reavenger v Push n Shove v TS2 = :)
Q3: Omen v Cobalt v Reavenger = :uhoh:
Not too bothered about a wooden bot and a flipper
TS2, beater but will be a good fight
Omen (horizontal spinner) and colbalt (Hydraulic crusher)... Im going to die
Finally got around to starting my FW rebuild for the champs and got tons done
Ive kept the old metal parts from V1, but scraped the 8mm hdpe base and lid in favour of 3mm steel, re-wired my battery pack and esc's
got the motor holes drilled and motors mounted
taking a few ideas from all over the place really
The main shell will be bolted to the base (much like 540) with all the electrics mounted to that
the main shell is fully welded, as is the base and back (the back will be 5-6mm steel) so the whole bot comes in 2 sections, should make it much easier to work on and generally stronger
hope tomorrow I shall get the esc's mounted and have a little drive, will get the battery box welded onto the base next week as well as the RX and BEC box done
All coming together well, will hopfully finish with time to spare for the champs, though as its me, I doubt I will
Big news from the Team Avenger camp coming up shortly
All will be reviled tomorrow, and those that know, keep your mouths closed
You've bought another robot!
He has, but which one he's bought scares the hell out of me...
put the build diary up
