im having alexs bed - hes gone on the floor just for me ;):)
Were now booked in at the Wellington A1 Southbound Travelodge for Saturday night - almost never happened though as most of the other Travelodges in the area didnt have any rooms for three left.
Got Kaizer back off George this weekend - the forks are in a bit of a state and will need some work this coming weekend to get them into fighting state (not sure if Ive enough spare HDPE :uhoh:), and will get to look at Drumroll for the first time since Rebel this weekend too but it should be almost ready to go.
Ive already had one piece of engineering work from Kenny, itll be nice to get my hands on antoher when I win the trophy
11 days to go!
im hoping someone will upload some good fights to youtube from this event!

Could u perhaps post the link for the place ur staying at? That would really helpful.
Liam
Adrian, with the amount of spinner battles taking place, I intend to keep my camcorder to hand as often as possible. Should hopefully get some good footage which will definetly make it on to Youtube :)
Liam, no problemo:

Turns out its actually Washington not Wellington but its still the same place :)
great stuff, cant wait. but hopefully not whilst your trying to drive drumroll at same time!
Lol nah Ive got my skivies..err..I mean my fellow team members for that :)
Or if were all busy, my camera works in the following way: open the screen (camera turns on) point at robot battle, press REC button to start filming, press button again to stop filming, close screen (camera turns off).
Id be happy for responsible users (well it is expensive :)) to film fights in the event that were working on robots or otherwise engaged. But beware, if you record footage of someone secretly picking their nose, or you mooning the camera while no-one is looking, it WILL go on Youtube! :proud:
We are staying at the Newcastle Whitemare Pool Travelodge, same problem, not many room left for 3 but at least theres alot of travelodges nearby.
Were in the Whitemare as well.
nuts, need to get a room and car sorted asap
Were staying....at my house. lol.
I have a degree in film if anyone wants videos taking. lol. Ill be filming as much as my phone camera will take, and will get Dave Weston or Marco to film if (when hopefully!) Japanese Fighting Tortoise gets to fight a spinner.
Also, does anyone know what time each show will start at on both days and what time well need to arrive at before each of them start?
Cheers
Liam
Show times:
Sat - 10am, 12pm, 2pm, 4pm
Sun - 11am, 1pm, 3pm
Thats from the Robochallenge website.
When I asked about arrival times earlier in this thread:
10am is the first show so we would like people there around 8 30 ish. gives us time for tech checking. drivers briefing will be at 9:15am
Most likely about an hour before the first Sunday show I would guess for arrival times - Im sure James or Grant will post exact details soon
Id assume not every robot will be in every show though, apart from whiteboards of course. I assume itll be in heats.
poxy new robots.
buy beauty off me clive - £2000
take this one off me part ex and i might think about it:)
lol i would make ur robot a champion
then come and fix the ******* thing before i have a mental breakdown.!!!!!!!
Clive just send it north of the border for a while, we will get it working and send it back with one of those big spinny things on it :)
might just have one of those yet,the first robot might be shelved and a deputy put in.viva hdpe.:mrgreen:i have a lovely ti bar from scorpion sitting in my garage begging to come put of retirement.all it needs is a mag,3 nights, 3 roboteers and 3 bottles of smirnoff.
is it a electrical problem or mechanical? whats up with it?
fire the flipper( 24v solenoid) and it trips the victors, use a seperate 24v supply and no problem.tried diodes, tried moving the solenoid and tried using a bec instead of a rx battery.using an electronise to fire the weapon, tomorrow will try a battle switch.all wires clear of motors etc.Drives like a demon until weapon fired.God help the walls of the arena!!!
what batterys? could be a power drop when firing and driving so the victors reset
Have moved the solenoid around the chasis several times until i found a place that even with a seperate supply it didnt trip the victorss. chasis is Ti base is polycarb, hair is grey, nails are short, patience is thin, vodka bottle is empty.
HELP PLEASE.
Kenny 24v nimh
What is the difference in power supply from nicad to nimh?
Could this be the problem?
what motors are you running??, nicads can give out alot more current than nimh, also are the packs old and been used alot?
speed 900s no idea on the bat pack as bought by the Mrs. If you want to interogate her then please feel free.lol.
I have come to the conclusion that fishing is a lot less stressfull than building robots.:uhoh:
Sounds like the packs have a low discharge rate so when the speed 900s and solinoids are powered your getting a voltage drop and resetting the victors when the solinoid is turned off
might try a nicad pack tomorrow but the gaffer says i have had too much red label to try taking a bat pack apart tonight. lol.
specially after i fell over the end of the settee
Hey guys- quick update.
We have ordered the Hardox and steel for the floor, and we will get it monday hopefully so we will be stupidly busy trying to get that ready for the event. We cannot guarentee it to be finished intime but we will try our best!
Thankyou jamie for pointing out our showtimes etc, i will send an e-mail out at the weekend with all the arrival times and other info you might be interested in.
The format for the competition is similar to the European Championships but a few more 1 on 1s.
Round 1 will consist of 3-way mellees. Each robot in the competition will get 3 fights each, and your points added up. The top 10 will go through to the next round.
Round 2 - 5x 1 on 1 fights, winner goes through. The rest go into a 5-way loosers mellee and the winner goes through to get a total of 6 robots.
Round 3 - 3x 1 on 1 fights, winner goes through, loosers mellee and winner goes through.
Semi Finals - 2 x 1 on 1 fights, winner goes through.
Finals - 1 on 1 final.
The first rounds will take up the entire first day, and we will try and add a whiteboard in each show.
The second day will consist of the rest of the rounds and also an annihilator consisting of 6 robots.
One robot gets knocked out each round untill we have a winner.
Most whiteboards will be held on the sunday, and we will add a couple of non-spinner whiteboards (although spinners will take preference).
The draw will be done tommorow, so keep an eye out!
We are booked in at the Washington A1 (M) Northbound travel lodge.
I have probably missed a few of your questions, just post up or e-mail me and ill try and answer them as soon as.
so we all get to do 3 x 3way melees in the first round? Before any robots are knocked out?
Yep, everyone gets a minimum of 3 competition fights aslong as they dont get destroyed:proud:.
This means in the first round you will be fighting a total of 6 other robots, so you have a good chance of meeting a spinner:kiss:
cool i like the sound of that although i dont think it will last 3 fights. :-) looking forward to it.
I like the sound of that too. Now I just need to find a way of making JFT survive one fight, never mind three! Ha. Gunna be a great couple of days methinks.
Clive, we had a similar problem when we ran aftershock on an electronize switch. We solved the problem by replacing it with a servo and microswitch setup, it has worked fine ever since.
Will
Im going to have to arrive a bit later than 8:30, My dad is Backshift on Friday the day before and he wont be home until 11 at night just to let u know
