Wedginator still is the LEM-powered 25 mph monster he was earlier this heat and the crocodile blasts out of the starting square towards BIACS-LE. Matty as well takes an aggressive approach. BIACS-LE drives into Wedginator, but when it comes to purely driving, Wedginator seems to win this fight :proud:.
CLANG!
With great power Wedginator comes in underneath BIACS-LE€™s front. The wedgebot carries the axlebot to the wall€¦
CLANG!
CRASH!
JUST before Matty€™s disc would have hit the wall, mr. Fowler brings it down with a thump! It looks to me like the weapon is not fully spun up yet, and also like BIACS-LE suffers more than Wedginator does, since the axlebot itself is thrown away on impact. Wedginator steers around to face BIACS-LE again, who JUST couldn€™t recover fast enough to do anything against this attack. Wedginator underneath now€¦
FLIP!
Kody shows some aggression with this great powerflip, but BIACS-LE, being the annoying axlebot it is, isn€™t all that impressed. BIACS-LE lines up, Wedginator comes in€¦
CRASH!
FLIP!
BIACS-LE attacks the moment Wedginator comes in, but Kody is quick with the controls :proud:. When the disc came down, the flipper went up. This pretty much saved Kody€™s main body, but he DOES have a slice across his flipper now! BIACS-LE shows off how agile he is and he gets around Wedginator€™s side!
CRASH!
THERE! Wedginator€™s front wedge has the shape and thickness to take blows from bots like BIACS-LE, but its sides don€™t have such luxury :proud:. Wedginator is attacked by the disc, and flipped! Matty smirks and hopes to attack Wedginator€™s belly now€¦
Lining up€¦
SELFRIGHT!
CRASH!
If someone knows a cool sound effect to use with a super tense €œin the nick of time€ selfrighting action like this, please e-mail your suggestion to MartyB512@hotmail.com :proud:. For now, all I can say is Wedginator successfully dodged BIACS-LE€™s ordeal with some great selfrighting skills., and the disc comes down on the floor. Wedginator moves around the axlebot, but Matty€™s weapon can be brought in fast, very fast€¦
CRASH!
Ooooooooooh, that€™s gotta hurt! The weapon again comes down on Wedginator. Wedginator wants to back off a bit€¦ but€¦ but can€™t?! At least, not as fast as it wants to! Wedginator is moving badly after that last attack of BIACS-LE, who comes in again for the kill!
CRASH!
Wedginator€™s done for! BIACS-LE€™s gone straight through the polycorb and has bend Wedginator€™s left wheel€™s axle with that attack! Kody€™s pride drives in circles it seems€¦ The judges start moaning.

K, here€™s the deal. I will concentrate on UTATYA (Use the Arena to your Advantage ) now, a 16 vapour tourney that€™ll keep me off the street for a while. This happens to have the side effect that it buys Matty some time to get his stats for Riptile 3 together, which would be cooler than giving byes :proud:. I might come up with a deadline after UTATYA is done, if I can be bothered.
Agh. Beat my ass. :lame: Oh well, you win some, you lose some. Good stuff Martijn. :)
Novastorm (11) vs Y4 vs Salamander III
I dont see the seed going very far here. Novastorm to either finish the match destroyed, or on the camera tracks.
Aneurysm vs Enter the May Tracks vs Riptile 3
Honestly, I dont know.
My tactics will wait until Matty posts stats.
Well, now that Mattys back, maybe well see a glimpse of Riptile 3 and possibly the revival of this tournament? :proud:
May I ask, as none of us have heard from Matty in weeks, what happens if it turns out hes retired? Im not bumping this, its just that the competitions been great so far, and many of us dont wish to see it go the same way as my last 2 competitions - which reminds me...*Restarts work on E.O.T.R.5 with a very large pen :proud:*
(Message edited by paulc on May 24, 2008)
I must say I wanna finish UTATYA first no matter what Matty does, when UTATYAs over and Mattys still missing, Im gonna use the stats of Riptile 2 and go on with this :)
Helloooooooooooooooo!
Newsflash!
Ill be knocking together the last few fights of UTATYA 1 this week and I wish to continue MN 2 after that. I dont know when exactly Ill finish UTATYA and continue this, but when I do, and Riptile 3s stats still arent in, I shall use the stats of Riptile 2 for this tournament, mkay everyone?
So basically, Matty, you have about 1 week left to get Riptile 3s stats in :proud:
uhhh... silly question... where can I find Riptile 2?
ok, new deal, if by next week I dont have EITHER Riptile 2 OR Riptile 3 in, Ill be using Riptile 1!!!!
(something tells me I should check where to find Riptile 1 before making this post...)
W00t, I€™m gonna continue this thing now.
Heat F
Round 1
Fight 1
Novastorm (11) vs Y4 vs Salamander III
Novastorm (11): Tony here made us a powerful diagonal bar spinner coupled with a nifty srimech. Like seen more often, the srimech doubles as a nice lifter, which has some nice synergy with aforementioned bar . The 20 mph provided by those 4 Mags might be a bit too much though.
In MN1: Has beaten the mighty Wild Thing (S4), but very much needed Wedge Devolution€™s help to do so. Then beat Dante in round 2, but when face-to-face with Wedge Devolution in the heat final Novastorm met his maker :proud:.
Y4: A T-Minus lookalike, a rare breed but the weapon is very much proven. Chris is the one who brings us that powerful flipper, and even solved T-Minus€™ problem of having exposed wheels, even though Chris still had to semi-expose them .
In MN1: Did not compete.
Salamander III: Being my personal successor as the Crash & Burn Champion, Alex Holt€™s amphibious pet is an opponent to watch out for. The idea is simple; two big wheels driving 1 big horizontal flywheel around the arena. Axlebot-style.
In MN1: Did not compete.

VAPOURBOTS ARE GO! Novastorm is moving very quick, but not to face its opponents. Like fellow spinner Salamander it moves around a bit waiting for its powerful weapon to spin up. Chris sees (and knows, from reading the stats ) that both its opponents are not the quickest to spin up and the flipper now moves to Salamander. The black and yellow machine does its best to buy itself more time but Y4 is the faster of the two. Salamander turns around but that disc isnt strong enough yet!
CRASH!
Yeah, its a crash alright, but the damage is very hard to see for the naked eye. Y4 moves forward.
FLIP!
With that powerful arm under the disc, slowed down quite a bit due to the crash that just happened, Y4 manages to give Salamander an impressive amount of airtime! But what has Novastorm been up to?
CRASH!
Y4 left its rear open for Novastorm to come in! An impressive attack by Tony who literally sweeps Y4 aside and slams a nice hole in the titanium while doing so! While Y4 moves aside, and Novastorm recovers from the feedback, the bar spinner moves on to Salamander (who came down quite well after that flip of Y4), to which he has a pretty clear shot now Y4 is thrown away. Alex uses his 2WD mechanism to his advantage though and make sure the collision will be bar-to-disc rather than bar-to-exposed rear€¦
CRASH!
Its very clear that both spinners are very powerful, but Salamander came in a tad more effective and now its Novastorm who feels whats it like to be thrown away. Y4 comes moving in again, but that one attack of Novastorm was apparently enough for Y4€™s right wheel to be a bit more diagonal than Chris wishes it to be! Chris doesnt give up whoever and sees Novastorm before him. The 4WD 20mph wonder of Tony cant accelerate fast enough to escape Y4 attack its side€¦
FLIP!
The big bar of Novastorm is what hits the arena floor first and with quite some force! Salamander sees Novastorm lying defenceless and using its srimech, a fine moment to attack for Alex Holt!
CRASH!
That attack self-righted Novastorm, after the srimech did most of the work already mind you. But apart from €œhelping€ Novastorm, it also brings him into some degree of troubles as the bar spinner€™s bar is now bend quite a bit! Not to mention the damage done to the side panel! Novastorm turns around to show everyone that at least one of its weapons IS still working fine, namely its lifter. As the somewhat limp Y4 moves to Novastorm again, Salamander recognises the flipper as the current weakest opponent currently available and has a go at it€¦
CRASH!
OUCH! The already bend side now pushes the wheel away even further. So badly in fact that the wheels isnt even able to move anymore! This looks bad for Chris, very bad, very very bad.

Next fight now. Riptile 3 isn€™t in yet so Riptile 1 it is.
Heat F
Round 1
Fight 2
Aneurysm vs Enter the May Tracks vs Riptile 1
Aneurysm: Its an invertible horizontal spinner, much like Fragmentor, made by Andy, unlike Fragmentor. The manoeuvrable 2WD system makes this machine very agile, but watch out for Fragmentor!
In MN1: Did not compete.
Enter the May Tracks: Successor of a very successful machine in the Killer Toad series, Frank€™s tracked bot is a machine to watch out for. The shape is that of Comandgetorix and the weapon is a flipper that will going on forever€¦
In MN1: Did not compete.
Riptile 1: The first and so far only robot in this line designed by Matty. Riptile utilises a powerful drive-system and a very original weapon to take advantage of this; two vertical circular saws spinning in opposite direction. All this power comes with an armour that might be considered not up too par with today€™s machine though.
In MN1: Did not compete.

ACTIVATE!
The Eteks powering Riptile immediately propel the machine to an unknown top speed, which is clearly inferior to that of the speedy Enter the May Tracks. The 2 boxes meet in the centre of the arena while the spinning menace AKA Aneurysm is still trying to get his weapon faster and faster. The Matrix inspired machine and the reptile collide head-to-head€¦
CLANG!
Wedge-to-wedge Riptile has the power advantage and pushes the May Tracks forward a bit, but the tracked bot has a slightly niftier wedge, or rather, a wedge extender, which causes the May Tracks to slip under its opponent without all that much trouble. The flipper is under now, and activated only a second later!
FLIP!
Matty€™s vapourbot isn€™t effected by this onslaught since its made to work upside-down. Rather than looking for any confrontation again Riptile now moves away and lines up, Matty keeping a keen eye on the open pit while doing so. In the meantime Aneurysm hasn€™t been sleeping either and now meets the first robot in its path, which happens to be Enter the May Tracks! Frank€™s machine has enough manoeuvrability to avoid being shred to pieces and in dodging Aneurysm€™s weapon it lines up its rear to face the spinner. Reversing Enter the May Tracks Frank manages to out push Andy€™s robot for a while, but now the two robots are so close to each other Andy manages to take advantage of his skid steer drive system€¦
CRASH!
Aneurysm digs its way into Enter the May Tracks€™ rear and flies backwards on this massive impact! Frank sees a nasty slice in his machine now, and what€™s more, Riptile is having a go at his side!
CLANG!
Enter the May Tracks is taken by surprise as Riptile€™s saws are steadily creating quite a grip on the Hardox surface, and now Riptile is winning the pushing game. Ending the fight isn€™t that easy for Matty though since May Track€™s right track is still touching the ground and putting up quite a fight. AJ decides to throw some randomness into the fray and Aneurysm dives into the struggling duo€¦
CRASH!
ARGH! Both boxes are hurt but Riptile€™s hurt more than May Tracks, clearly. Andy likes what he just did to Riptile and tries it again!
CRASH!
Another good hit! Riptile€™s having a very hard time keeping his destructive opponent at bay and that hole in the 6 mm. titanium isn€™t helping either. As if Aneurysm alone wasn€™t bad enough it seems also Frank thinks of Riptile as the weakest link now and powers May Tracks wedge underneath Riptile, who€™s mobility hasn€™t improved under the punishment received by Aneurysm.
FLIP!
Riptile recovers from his second flip this fight and sees Aneurysm and May Tracks coming at him from different directions now. Riptile tries to fight his way out by aiming for Aneurysm€™s front corner, outside the spinner€™s reach, and pushing Aneurysm away. While Riptile succeeds in pushing Aneurysm, the extra 100 kg to move around slows it down enough for Enter the May Tracks to penetrate its sides and drive it forward a bit€¦ towards the WALL!
FLIP!
In a very efficient flip, Riptile 1 is thrown OOTA.

Heat F
Round 2
Fight 1
Novastorm 2 (11) vs Enter the May Tracks
3€¦
2€¦
1€¦
ACTIVATE!
Its 2 Mags vs 4 and remarkably both machines move at a 20 mph top speed! Novastorm is the one that uses 4 motors however and shows this off driving around the arena with great speed, not going on the offensive until that big blade starts reaching monstrous speeds. Enter the May Tracks is more eager than that though and drives towards Novastorm, who in turns aims its rear towards the May Tracks showing Frank the lifter. Two wedges face each other but its Novastorm€™s that comes out on top€¦ on top of Enter the May Tracks€™ wedge that is:proud:! That tracked bot does one helluva job penetrating Novastorm€™s belly and after that that flipping arm does one helluva job sending Novastorm skywards!
FLIP!
Tony sees his robot inverted as Novastorm comes down on its blade which would have slammed a nice dent in any regular arena, but not the MN one (the arena needs a name doesn€™t it?). Novastorm€™s srimech is activated but sadly it isn€™t the fastest srimech ever we€™re dealing with here, and Enter the May Tracks continues his attack. The May Tracks box-rushes the helpless Novastorm only for Novastorm to complete his self righting duties JUST before he€™s carried all the way towards the wall. Back in business Novastorm surprises Enter the May Tracks by attacking him from his left flank. Novastorm€™s lifter starts lifting the May Tracks from the ground and actually TOWARDS the bar that has been gaining some speed.
CRASH!
Enter the May Tracks received a serious blow and is thrown aside right now, but the Hardox armour lived up to its name. Novastorm has a go at Enter the May Tracks blade-first and the May Tracks isn€™t given enough time to do anything else than turning around to welcome its opponent€¦
CRASH!
May Tracks and Novastorm met weapon-to-weapon May Tracks€™ weapon deflecting most of the damage and actually sending Novastorm up and over! Frank is in for a bit of a surprise though when he sees his flipper is bend and cant be fully lowered anymore! Still Enter the May Tracks goes on the offensive since, well, Novastorm€™s ground clearance when inverted is quite massive and doesn€™t require a very low flipper anyway. Enter the May Tracks gets under Novastorm who€™s self-righting again, but unlike last time he isn€™t self-righting AWAY from Enter the May Tracks! There€™s not an awful lot Tony can do about it when Frank takes Novastorm all the way towards the nearest wall! All Tony can do is pray Enter the May Tracks€™ flipper wont have enough power€¦
FLIP!

Novastorm 2 (11) has hit the camera tracks
Enter the May Tracks goes through to the heat final!
