29th December 2007 - Robo Challenge at Thinktank

Thanks to the RoboChallenge crew for another exellent event, very wel managed and smoothly run, congrats to Beauty & Rip for a well deserved win, and thanks to Gary for a great if short fight!!,

Would like to second what Dave has just said. Another excellent event from Robochallenge.We have quite a lot of video footage taken will try and get it up on Youtube later. Only a analogue camcorder though!

Well that was another christmas holiday spent in the workshop! :)

I would just like to say thank you to everybody for supporting our event and putting on such a good show. You all did a great job of being on time and getting your machines working thank you. Thanks also for all the kind words about the arena and event.

A Big congratulations goes to Beauty & Rip (John, Little John and Jonno) who did a brilliant job. Also to G3 & LH2 for taking the battle to them and coming runners up.

And lastly thank you to all those who stayed behind to help take everything down, its always the worst job! :)


Thinktank were very impressed and pleased with the show so we are hoping we can sort another out for next year, maybe a tag team style event again?

has anyone else noticed that beauty was already at hornet when activate was said?? lil john lol

It was Bullseye that got flipped out. I was told that on the day, checked the video with dave, ed, gary, jamie and james and beauty moved on activate.

beauty was nervous that y it had a twitch but I think it just faster off the start

No worries, my disc was still deadly by the time you got to me

your disc is deadly before it gets to full speed took a chunk out of my hadox a second after you had hit someone else

I still need to work out a setting on my camera that produces good results when taking pictures of robots through the arena polycarb. Its a fancy enough camera to have one I think - just need to search for it :)

is 360 2wd or 4wd?
have you had the disc spinning yet ?

Its 4wd. The selfrighter is being made, but there wasnt time to get it finished for this event. The self righting arm is made, and dave has the gears. We had the disc spinning upto about 700+ Rpm and it drove lovely, but then one of the speedos went. 2 new 120A ones will be on their way soon so it wont be long before its spinning again. Dave drove it into a big plastic box at that speed and sent it flying - the disc didnt slow down at all, so im hoping it does that in the arena too!! but at 3500+ rpm :proud:

it looks cool thats for sure, its just a shame you guys dont do more events so we get see it working !!!

next outing is prob in 5months i hope, its 4wd as g-boy said, 2 front wheels are mega grippy (those over priced whyachi things) and the back ones are pretty slippy, so it grips well and holds a straight line but the body slides ouround the disc when it turns. The front wheel axles are inline with disc axle (near enough). similar principal to razer....sgud!

i would of liked my clusterbot to be a similar design to gemini, but i just couldnt work out how do it with the weight, and i wasnt sure what gemini used originally for armour either.

nah as i was discussing today.... a true chaos 2 replica would have to have two rams, not just a big on in the centre, an the wheels have to be n the same place to get the chaos 2 characteristics !!!! :)

Agree with you jonno, not worth makin a mini unless its going to look pretty much identicle from a few metres away, and acts the same in the arena.

iv always wanted to see a mini kan opener (its one of my favourites)

if one was made under weight and was anything like its daddy then it would be one of the best feathers and one of very few were scared of

just like kan opener as my dad hates fighting it (but i love it lol)
