Yeah JH-Q has been pestering me with the progress (joking) of this bot for awhile now. I really like the use of the 24v dewalt and I would try this out if I hadnt had invested in my Ev Warrior and actuator collection lol.
Anyway good luck with the event and I hope that drive works fine for you, last time we spoke it was having some trouble steering but it looks like you may have sorted that out with the mini wheels.
Wish it could come to the Uk for a drum bot battle. All the best of luck for the weekend.

Wow just seen the video ... you have a killer there JH-Q
-
Featherweight Database
Youre right there - I dont mean to be heavy handed and all but I wouldnt want that robot running in that arena (note my use of inverted commas) anywhere near where I am.
Now Ive watched the rest of the vids I wouldnt want to be near it with any robot running in it PERIOD!

Featherweight Database
is it in an ice rink?
Its dam good though, well done on an impressive machine!

Karoline, luckily audience was behind 15mm polycarb/steel net at this event, bad thing was that roboteers didnt have that shield because it would have been too difficult to drive so far away. at next event audience doesnt have any shielding so i drop HCs rpm to 450. (and the weapon HAS a failsafe to prevent a runaway robot killing people)

JH-Q you have re-sparked my want to build a drum bot i have been drawing plans for ages and the result is .....Void.....
-
Featherweight Database
Ah I must have missed that bit on the video edit when you activated the failsafe, and removed the link before picking the robot up from the middle of the arena floor. BTW it was a very clear picture taken through the 10mm thick polycarb walls required for an arena to safely run spinners in the UK, but you are in Finland so perhaps it wasnt there.

Just putting the final touches to DB5, the weapon should be done in the next week. When it is done will put a video on the web site, it should in theory have about 4KJ if I can get the speed up to 8000rpm. Looks like an Astroflight.

Having had no end of problems with microCHIPs drive motors Ive now gone with drill motors. Im fitting in a pair of James Coopers drill motors. So far so good. Ive also mounted the big pulley on the hardox disk. See profile pic

MicroCHIPs looking very swish Rob, btw what was the drive motors ment to be before you changed to the drill motors.

window motors Chris. They were heavy and hard to secure to a wheel and a bit slow.

Ah its all the best youve fitted some drill motors then. Im keeping an eye on the Team Whyachi and the cheaper BaneBots planetary gear motors but for the moment im sticking with my own modified drill gearboxes.

How did the HTI spinner do at XFM Colchester tony?
-
Featherweight Database
The disc worked great it cut a 1mm deep hole in my 4mm hardox on Dragon 2 with 1 hit. But he had drive proplems so did not do well spent most of the time trying to fix the drive. The HTIs worked great he controlled it with a 30amp Elextronize with external relays.
