Last year, we hosted the FIRA (robot soccer) championships. This year, theyre in China.
So if you remove the soccer guys, were actually 12 robots ahead of last year (466 entries from 2007 after you remove soccer and 12 pounders)

Just looked it up
Swindon 15 HW
Barnsley17 HW
Rumble 23 HW
Oldham 16 HW
Stoke 20 HW
Swindon 8 HW (sideshow)
Dose this mean the UK is the best place to see the Heavy weight robots in action?
:)
Very possibly :)
What happened to the 12 lbers this year?
The event organizer doesnt like the 12s in the big arena...they spend 2 1/2 minutes looking for each other and 30 seconds fighting, if your lucky!
weve diluted the bots over here with LW(23) and MW(20) being very popular, they take away from the heavyweights(only 12) I believe.
matt....
are the middle weights as impressive as the heavyweights in your opinion, or do you have to see the heavyweights for a proper full on fight with a wow factor??
From what I seen a few years ago at robogames the middleweights are just as impressive and a crowd would have a hard time telling the difference between the two.
Perhaps we should look at promoting the weight class over this side of the pond?
thats what i was thinking,... a new challenge !!!
:)
with less strain on your back :)
i always wondered why middleweights are not around, and never taken off. i would have thought they are as impressive to watch as hw, and like you say more manageable transporting.
i say this in the middle of building my new hw
Well...
With johns sandwich, my woody (pic on profile)with help from friends over the water...craigalots tanto jnr and daves creation...that makes four....any more around ??
Didnt alan and dave young have one as well..
Cheers froggy
