16th/17th July - Roaming Robots, 2005 RIAT

Hi Guys,

Just wanted to say thanks for making this years RIAT, a superb success.
We werent sure just how popular it would be, however one thing is for sure, Robot Wars is far from dead as an attraction.

Logistically it was a nightmare, both for me, and the RAF, however lots of lessons learned, and next year ( providing they want us back ) i will be taking every steps to avoid the long walks now i know what can and cant be done.

We are now getting ready for holland, we leave tonight, so we will see those who are going later this week.

Well done to team titanium, and the Beast for winning this years event.

Sorry I had to dash as I had to pick David up from his Dad. Great event and by the look of the crowd filing in and out, our little bit of RIAT was extremely popular.
Pity about the oven-like heat. I badly caught the sun again from the reflection on the ground as well as directly from the sun.
Congratulations to TTMT and John Lear for winning and special thanx goes to John Bell for his superb wind-up as well as for his robot part arrangment skills :)

I did manage to see some of the planes as well, as Stiff Breeze was only half fit.

John only supplied the parts, the Big Nipper team arranged them for him !

Congratulations to everyone for making this a great event (despite the heat). Hope it will be on again next year. But especially to 8345T and Little Hitter for their competition wins.

Sorry that we had to dash but I had a four hour drive back to Dunmow and then on to Bury St Ed.

First time Mayhems been to a two day event and fairly encouraging didnt break down or lose a wheel for a change. I found out quite a few things to improve mainly the controlability that way maybe I can avoid the pit next time:)

Couple of pics on the RIAT site. :) Click on the RIAT Live headder (on the top right), then on the Sunday part. First pic is of a large bot (mechanoid?) with a person from DHL. Second is of a fight in the arena. This is ten down in the pics. Bots in fight pic Kronic the Wedgehog, Weird Alice and another that I do not know.

another that I do not know Cheeky sod! Ill have you know that we flipped both of them out during that fight!

Did anyone get a pic of the Red Arrows Heart during Saturdays display? If so I would like a copy please :)
