Alex, as standard they make 8.4v packs, get 2 of these and wire them up as one pack (in series) and use it as one pack as i used to do. And for waht you use/need, use NIMH.

as woody suggested i thnk im will get 2x 8.4v nimh packs, but what mAh should i be looking at?

will that extra 2.4volts make that much differnce?
also i know thias is basics but on a nicad/nimh charger what does the discharge function do? except for the obvisous thing

Not a lot of difference no.... perhaps 5% faster with 10% more power.
Discharging and Recharging your batteries slowly every so often helps to keep them in tip top condition.

For notice I think you should really try to research things more/look them up yourself Alex. Asking for solutions to every single point isnt going to gain you much knowledge and I know frustrates the people that answer your questions.
