Very well done to Alex and the Toons, good win :)

Re: 2010 Featherweight UK Championships - 3 Days September
Well done to Alex, Clive and Wendy for winning with Tiny Toon- a well deserved victory after some brilliant driving throughout the competiton. Also well done to John and Gary for second and third but also to Juggernaught for a very good 4th place. And not forgetting Zak and Seraphim winning the Annihilator competition too, another convincing win.
We had a bit of a mixed result with our machines, Aftershock 2 had one fight and ended up getting ripped apart by LS2. Whirlpool had a much better run getting in plenty of whiteboards against some spinners but once again LS2 managed to almost finish it off, but despite the damage Whirlpool is still running. Whirlwind however did much better in the annihilator comp and whiteboards clocking up 9 out of the arena flips in 2 days and getting some pretty good flips so if anyone has any videos of it in action please let me know.
Finally thanks to Robochallenge for organising the event we had a great time taking part and we'll definately be coming back next year.
Thanks again and well done to all the winners!!

Re: 2010 Featherweight UK Championships - 3 Days September
Just got back home.Alex is in bed with his trophy, Back down to earth later as he has got a hard spelling test at school in the morning.
A big thank you to James, Grant and all of the Robochallenge crew for putting the event on. Thanks to Silverline and Horizon Hobbies for the prizes. Thanks to Dave Moulds for the 10 kilo box of chocolate buttons ( you know how to please the ladies) and Jason from the gadget show for calming Alex's nerves with your comments.
Well done to John and Tom with Beauty 4 a hard and well fought final.Gary with Boner for 3rd place, I am really pleased for you mate and a massive well done to Renzo with Juggernaught, I am chuffed to bits for you and know how gutted you must be to have got so close to a trophy. Congratulations to Zak with Seraphim the new Anihilator Champ.A trophy at last for Team Saint :D :D
Some really good fights this year with the spinners causing some horrendous damage  Now just got to repair or replace the damage:
Toonimator- blown Sidewinder, shattered bearings, blown motor, splintered armour.( I'll be back)
44 Toon-blown motor
Tiny Hertz-donated speed controller to Mini Mighty Mouse
Tiny Toon - scratched paint job
A great social weekend spoiled only by my travelodge room being to warm and the temperature of the shower being to hot.At least I didn't have to set light to my arm to stay warm.
Finaly thanks to Team Shock for providing the entertainment and taxi service on saturday night. Ian Thomas a man in million
Anybody with photo's or video's please please let me have a copy.

Special thanks to John & Pip Bell for your help and support these last 3 years, without you we would not be here.
-
Re: 2010 Featherweight UK Championships - 3 Days September
Well done to the Toon Army for their win, well deserved :)
Satanix faired a bit better than I thought it would, still got a burnt motor though, and a fantastic wound in the back corner courtesy of 360, but nothing a bit of welding won't fix.
Looking forward to next year already.
-
Re: 2010 Featherweight UK Championships - 3 Days September
Thanks to Robochallenge and everyone who helped them for putting on a brilliant weekend. Wish I could have been there for the full 3 days. Work is so inconvenient. Congratulations to the Toons for a brilliant and well deserved win.
Fighting spinners is fun.

Re: 2010 Featherweight UK Championships - 3 Days September
Thanks to the Robochallenge crew for running the event, and well done to the winners.
Gary definitely has one mean machine, and I am proud to be able to say that Boner did indeed hump me. Better get my welding up to scratch for next time.

Re: 2010 Featherweight UK Championships - 3 Days September
well done to the winners
-
Re: 2010 Featherweight UK Championships - 3 Days September
Well done to all the winners. Shame I couldn't be there to see the final on Sunday. Managed to get one round out of Weed before we got 'spinnered'! Still enjoyed the day and will definitely do it again. Hope to come to more events next year.

Re: 2010 Featherweight UK Championships - 3 Days September
Just got back home, We set off from Yeovil about 1ish but we decided to go to south wales to go to KFC, then back to england then to north wales for no reason at all then to manchester and finally back home. Anyways congratulations to Alex for winning the 2010 featherweight UK championship, Congratulations to John for coming 2nd and Congratulations thank you to Gary for getting 3rd and getting a spinner onto the podium again.
Good event eh?
P.S The chicken in Wales tastes exactly the same as the chicken in England.

Re: 2010 Featherweight UK Championships - 3 Days September
Well done to Alex and Zack on thier wins.
I had a very mixed weekend, the dragster didn't even get started, Asgard wouldn't work properly. I did get DB5 working well in the end, thanks to John Bell for the use of his Nicads, but I think it now has to be officially retired mainly due to damage from Sam's nasty spinner thing which was very impressive. Every robot has its day, 3 and a half years it has been going over 200 fights, most it seems against the spinners. It has fought middleweights and Thz(minus the axe) and survived them all. I could keep it going but every single bolt would need tightening after each fight so seems pointless.
I must say a huge thank you to all of the Robo Challenge crew for sorting out and managing to keep things running smoothly on all fronts with very little sleep. The social seen was great, even though I missed the human bowling on Sat night. I really wasn't looking forward to going due to rushing to try and get things finished in time I was starting to loose the will to go on. But I am glad I attended was a great event, and good to see folks we don't see very often.

Re: 2010 Featherweight UK Championships - 3 Days September
Maaaaaaan, what a weekend!
Got back in the door at 7pm this evening and I'm looking forward to sleeping in a bed that's not a Travelodge or sub-zero campsite (throw another lipo on the fire please :))
But tiredness aside...
WELL DONE ALEX :D
Congrats on taking the big one home, a well-deserved performance from Tiny Toon throughout the competition! Also many congratulations to John and Tom for taking the runner-up spot and to Gary and his tough-as-nails Boner for claiming third place. I should have set up some sort of performance royalty payment scheme when I sold it
Have to give Juggernaut a mention too; it doesn't look it but that is one tough robot. Stood up well to some incredible impacts from the spinners.
In the Annihilator, it was a close one but congratulations Zak for pipping me to the top spot :(
I'll work out some way to pin down that machine :)
Thanks to the Robo Challenge guys once again for their tireless and monumental effort in organising and hosting the championships alongside the drag racing. I think the whole weekend went off without a hitch really, ran very smoothly and had the perfect mix between robots and racing. Really enjoyed the social side of things too, from the lithium battery 'safety tests' to the human bowling. I'm impressed no one was injured 8)
Also thanks to Graeme for lending me a drill motor when mine burnt out and I realised I hadn't packed any spares, Dave for donating the brushless motor/gearbox and speedo, Ed for lending me several Nyloc nuts used in a bid to keep my weapon together and Gary for letting me hammer my shaft with his rubber mallet several times over the weekend
Got a few things to improve on Drumroll 2 but overall I'm pretty happy at how it handles and performs (suicidal gyro-dancing aside) so will hopefully put on a better show next time.
Pictures can be found here: http://s31.photobucket.com/albums/c367/ ... ps%202010/
Videos will hopefully be up soon but I've got ten 'pages' of vids on my camera and each page has nine videos so if you do the maths then I'm sure you'll understand that it could take a while :)

Re: 2010 Featherweight UK Championships - 3 Days September
I must say thank you to all of the Robo Challenge crew (now go get some sleep!!!)
Thank you to Tom for taking over the driving sorry it drove slow
well done to Gary for 3rd place
And a big thank you to Ed for taking me home.
may see you all next year;)

Re: 2010 Featherweight UK Championships - 3 Days September
Oh yeah forgot well done Alex (did do this on purpus lol)
theres only one way to go now thats down ;)

Re: 2010 Featherweight UK Championships - 3 Days September
Hi All
Congratulations Alex on a convincing performance,
Also well done John and Tom for taking the runner-up spot and to Gary for third place.
Juggernaut coming forth very well done.
From an engineering perspective, I was pleased how well Seraph held up to the spinner attacks, the wheels are only 8mm HDPE (RG1000) one time Sam's nasty spinney thing hit Seraph, and left the arena! Now Seraph is more reliable I am expecting it to win the odd whiteboard next year.
Tron worked Perfectly until it's last fight when the Wotty 100 speedo decided to let off some magic smoke! only one side works now. Well done Trevor you won that fight before the speedo blew.
I have to say many thanks to all the Robo Challenge team, a great effort and their ride on racer looked great too.
-
Re: 2010 Featherweight UK Championships - 3 Days September
A big thanks to all the robo challenge crew for all the hours of effort you put in to make it such a great event.
Proper champs atmosphere from start to finish.
Well done to the winners and runners up it was a tough draw for all of you especially Juggernaut.
After the intense hours trying to bodge NST together including around 41 hours without sleep from thurs morning I was totally expecting it to break on the first hit. Delighted that it kept going for several battles.
Thanks to the teams that helped me fix it especially teams Juggernaut, big nipper and scorpion.
gotta say i'm converted to the feather weight class, i can't remember an event as fun ever. Just gotta try and keep the thing in the arena next time!
I've got a couple of vids which i'll stick on utube if I get a chance to set up an account on it.

Re: 2010 Featherweight UK Championships - 3 Days September
Well done to all the winners over the weekend, im still thawing out from the saturday night in the tent. Had good fun with the dragster on the sunday, especially seeing as im the roboteer who got theirs to work :P more engines next year i think! Alpha still lives, so looks like im going have to drag it out again next year as well, i did give Sam a good chance to finish it off but his wimpy spinner couldn't manage it :)

Ok, who's the funny guy!?
I wanted to wait until I felt a bit more human before posting but sod it. 1001 miles in a transit later I got home with a nice shiny trophy and some new tools. I couldn't believe how well boner held up after throwing it in numerous fights outside the main competition!
Congrats to all the winners, it was definately one of the best events I've been to and one of the hardest faught! Can't wait to see the footage.
A huge thanks and well done to the robochallenge crew. You guys always manage to throw a great party and I'm only too happy to drive the length of the country to come have some fun :)
To anyone that I kept awake on the camp site with drinking games and drunken rambling.......well it's to be expected now

Re: 2010 Featherweight UK Championships - 3 Days September
Hey Guy's,
I've half recovered from the weekend, although still aching and tired!
I hope this UK championships has been one to remember - and as much as I hate to say it, a huge congratulations goes to Alex for winning with Tiny Toon. I was dreading the day a box won the Championship's, but I have to say Alex did some very impressive driving and fully deserved the win so well done! I think it's time Tiny Toon retired now
There were some really great fights over the 3 day's, and hopefully the excellent trophies funded by the FRA and the huge array of prizes sponsored for us by Silverline Tools and Horizon Hobby were well worth fighting for!
I have to say a big thank you to everyone who keep on travelling the long distances to our event's and especially to those who build robots specifically for our 1 or 2 events a year - It really does show your support and we really are gratefull for that. Thank you to everyone who helped out over the competition including John Bell and Pip for sorting all the judge's and score sheets up to date through out the event, it was a huge help. We had a few roboteer's stay behind to help pack away (and set up) which is massively appreciated. We were so worn out by the end that I dont think we could have done it without the help!
I hope you all enjoyed the drag racing too - alans C5 was actually pretty kool :) hopefully Robo Challenge will take the win for all 3 catagories next year
I'm already trying to organise next years UK champ's at the moment - so keep your eyes peeled shortly for further details!
well done everyone!

Re: 2010 Featherweight UK Championships - 3 Days September
Talking of driving and weapons (of sorts), at the Antweight World series we often have awards at the end, they change from time to time but the staple ones are:
Best Driver
Best Engineered
Best Design
Most Destructive
Most Destroyed
Best newcomer (robot and/or competitor)
So who fits these awards from the UK champs ?

Re: 2010 Featherweight UK Championships - 3 Days September
Hi all,
Wasnt it a great week-end. Congratulations to all the winners, humbug & co. Just stripped Little Spinner 2 down with no serious problems the only thing that stopped us in the end was a keyway in the weapon shaft. I think my robot did better than most of the spinners even though it was definitely the oldest spinner there. All it needed was a good driver and it may have gone further in the competition. I think I was probably the oldest roboteer there and I think the most inexperienced but still had great fun.
The social aspect of it was great, everybody helping everybody else and a fantastic atmosphere. A big thank you to the Coopers and Silverline for providing the food for Saturday night although it came a little bit late for some people who had just ordered food and paid for it from the bar.
Graeme's thick lip has gone down from playing human skittles!
-
Re: 2010 Featherweight UK Championships - 3 Days September
I'd like an additional category added to that list, most fights with a single robot, think I win that one hands down
-
Re: 2010 Featherweight UK Championships - 3 Days September
Best Driver - Alex with Tiny Toon, without a doubt
Best Engineered - 360 (closely followed by either NST or LS4)
Best Design - Asgard
Most Destructive - Toonimator/NST
Most Destroyed - Yup, Carcinus :proud:
Best newcomer (robot and/or competitor) - Juggernaut (I don't know how new this robot is but it's the first time I've seen it so it's new to me)
And yeah, I think Boner took part in the most number of fight throughout the weekend. I've still to really sit down and sort my videos but I think I filmed most of its fights so that should give a rough indication of just how much fighting time it got :)
-
Re: 2010 Featherweight UK Championships - 3 Days September

Re: 2010 Featherweight UK Championships - 3 Days September
Hey Sam,
I've got a fair few videos of NST in action, both competition and whiteboard. I've just been terribly lazy in getting all my footage off my camera and online but hoping to start getting them all sorted out tomorrow. Will post here when they're up :)
