From your posts I got the impression that you are an experienced roboteer but didn€™t think you had gone to many events, it seemed strange that you were semi retiring a robot that I thought had only been out once or twice. Actually, now you have confirmed this, it still seems strange!
Interesting to see your heavy instead though some time in the future I€™m sure.

yeah been to a few events, unfortunatley i soon decided a rambot wasnt exciting enough (my first robot) so went for a spinner, but then decided that their was no way near enough events against the cost of maintenance, so have now brought a hw. yeah, looking forward to hw comps in the future. if the robot is in good order at the end of this comp, it will be for sale as i will no longer have use for it. (the spinner)

simply advising on what works well for me, and advice i was given, i own a spinner and have fought spinners quite a few times.

What Adrian does with his robots is Adrians business, Were all entitled to run our robots for as long or as little as we feel its best
Jamie as and when you can get the pics to me is great Ive had some great pics sent thou thanks for that to those who have sent pics
-
Rebel Robots
I do not condemn anything Adrian is going to do or has done with his robots and agree that they are 100% his business. I was just merely asking a question, the more bots on the circuit the better in my opinion but I fully respect his decision.
I mean to cause no offence by asking questions and I hope none has been caused!

no, it takes alot to offend me lol, just your questions felt (as i was reading them) that you may be implying something, perhaps i read it wrong! i believe the more bots the better, i dont see the point of letting prodigy evo gather dust in the garage, if someone else can keep it on the scene then fair dos!
the only downside is the more its get damaged the less it will be worth. perhaps i should of sold it before entering it into a competition, but with all the improvements i had to have one last go, lol

Anyone looked into accomodation for this event?
-
Rebel Robots
Only looked at Travelodges so far personally, hoped to get a cheap £29 room for both nights but so far can only get a cheap Friday and full-price Saturday
I briefly thought about camping but being the first week in February, Id probably miss the first show and possibly the second due to not being defrosted in time
-
Rebel Robots
Lol I am currently thinking about sleeping in the car :)

Rebel Robots
Is that the Worksop one Pete? I looked into that and it was the cheapest I could find - need to wait until after Christmas before booking it though, as some random festive holiday seems to be draining large sums of money out of my account :)
-
Rebel Robots
Im still somewhat tempted to stay in the car.....then again Im dragging a mate down too so I think I may have to shell out a whole 15 quid for a room.....bugga! :)
-
Rebel Robots
Yes Jamie it is the Worksop One ......

Just booked in at the Barnsley Travelodge. A teeny bit more expensive than Worksop but cuts a good twenty miles off our drive
Waiting with anticipation for news of the arena classification. Hope all goes well

Weve booked into our Hotel in Rotherham at the Ibis theyre having a sale on rooms at present works out cheaper than Travel lodge
Ill post any news when I finally get it
-
Rebel Robots
My sincere apologies Craig, expect an email from me tonight.
-
Rebel Robots
you got any photos craig?
-
Rebel Robots
any news from the FRA?
craig seems to be ignoring my request to see any photos? hope this isnt bad news craig - if i had built an arena i would be rushing to get photos on the internet to show customers and us roboteers
dont think im going to be booking a hotel yet - i remember what happened last time
-
Rebel Robots
LJ,
Discussions between any event organiser and the FRA are confidential, I can confirm that we have inspected Craigs arena and sent him a full report. If he wishes to make the result of that inspection or any photos he has public then that is a matter for him.
-
Rebel Robots
No bad news. I dont remember any photos being taken on the day, mind you it was a bitterly cold day to be outside.
-
Rebel Robots
I do have one or two photos of the arena when it was under construction but I am not going to forward them on to anyone unless Craig says its ok to do so.
I am sure we will hear something in the next few days.
-
Rebel Robots
so goeff, karoline
he passed the inspection and its all safe to go then yes? well i guess thats correct from karolines post so its all good stuff then
-
Rebel Robots
Geoff you said.

Fine.
However the FRA .. as I understand it ..represents Roboteers interests NOT the EOs...hence the need for an Arena inspection etc.
Could you please confirm ... rather than us having to infer the outcome of the inspection from Karolines post ..that the Arena is going to be suitable for the upcoming event.
Regards Alan

Alan,
You are quite right, our first duty is to the roboteers.
The aena was inspected and found to be fit for the proposed event. We can also confirm that we have had sight of Rebel Robots public liability insurance which is also suitable for this event.
Other matters of a comercialy sensitive nature were also discussed and these, Im sure you will understand, must remain a confdential matter between the event organiser and the association.
I hope this answers your perfectly valid question and we can now hope the roboteers will fully support this event.
Geoff.

Although the EO or FRA were under no obligation to post immediately the results of the arena inspection, the lack of any news for a week will no doubt have cast a level of uncertainty (albeit small) amongst roboteers in regards to whether this event would run or not, especially when you bear in mind the unfortunate cancellation of the event last September.
However the good news of an able arena and suitable liability insurance is bound to put minds at ease (I will admit, I was apprehensive but am now a lot more optimistic) and Im sure were all more than happy to give the event our full support.
Id like to thank Geoff and Karoline for bearing the cold and taking the time to inspect the arena suitability for us roboteers and thanks too to Craig for the effort put in to building a spiffy new arena for us to play in :)
Plus its a boost to the sport that there is now another arena on the circuit - us lucky lot are getting spoiled for choice!
I look forward to seeing any pics that may surface, and more so to seeing you all in a month for some mechanical mayhem!
-
Rebel Robots
To be fair Jamie the thanks has to go to Karoline, Mike Lambert, Steve Johnson & Trevor Wright. They were the ones who froze their colective asses off to inspect the arena! :uhoh:
Unfortunatly I wasnt available on the day!:proud:

Craig. It sounds like things are progressing. But for us its come to crunch time. We dont want to let our good friends at Robots live down but I need re-assurance that this event is on given that there is nothing on magna website relating to this event that I can find. With just 4 weekends left..I want to make sure i am getting the right robots ready as our heavy is in pieces still. Thanks, Ian (Team Shock)
