hi roboteers,
you only need a lathe ;) and some hours time to make cheap and verry special valve :)
you only keep in mind how a burkert valve will work, thats all.
@leo: the first link shows the old solenoid. the other link shows the selfmade soleonid (50g). I hacked a doorbell ;)

The coils on standard valves need to stay cool whilst on and are therefore wound with this in mind making them heavy in a decent wattage .... a momentary coil like the door bell is a good light alternative especially when overvolted.

Been buys with an ant event and the CAD master Bryan was busy with Moto. Now that the pre RoboGames events are over I can get back to work on the Flippy bots€¦ Bryan is going to start ordering the pneumatic parts this coming week and I will start to get the parts made. Its actually a really simple bot and not that much will have to be made€¦ But, they gotta get made and as soon as I get the files in order they will be sent out to get done. :)
Also, Mario says that he has started on the new OMG SUPER COOL LIKE TOTALLY BEST RAM EVER!!!!! So once I have that I will get the CAD on that and build it. I think I will make it just like Rocket but smaller, with some Ti forks and formed armor. Time for bed now€¦ Starting to get excited! :)

Now... Valve, vlave, valve... I know the burket is the norm, but what is 1 step below a burket? With the BIG flow I might not need such a big and heavy valve.

Bryan got the CAD all done. Looks awesome! Weight is at 42lb. Most of the Pneu parts are in for it and the batt for the 30lb came today. Once Mario is done with the new ram and it makes it down to me the CAD will be done for that shortly. Expect a mini version of Rocket. . . New picture is on profile and here is a pic of the fittings and ram.

Swayzio, I reckon some Dewalts in the 60lber would make it a bit more kickin in the drive department over the Banebots motors. :)

LMAO... I almost shot soda out my nose... Swayzio... woo boy! Funny stuff. Dewalts are to big... I think the BB units will work well. Time will tell if I am correct with that or not  I think that I am the first person to use the large ones in a bot. And a Li-p in a full size robot too.

I think they will be fine until you have to turn. They should have no hassles carrying 60lbs of robot around the arena, but the distance between the wheels will means its going to have to scrub like crazy to spin on the spot. Im guessing those motors are at least 400mm apart axle centre to axle centre? Would place a lot of extra load on the motors.
Keep us up to date Swayzio
