Ryobi make awesome drills, the most underrated in my opinion. They last me longer than dewalt so obviously have decent 'boxes in. Will definitely be giving them a try next time.

I'll be using Ryobis for Hatchet 2's drive after seeing how well they've performed in Scuffy
well the ones in night fury have had nothing done to them for 2 years and there still going but i have had to tighten the 2 screws that hold the motors in place as i noticed they were starting to move a bit when i dismantled it
Probably from when C3 smacked it into the roof :-)
Lol it took a hell of a battering at gsl but kept on going
Unlike C3 ;)
C3 still worked at the end of the event, just without one of the side panels as 720 bent it.
And the back which i snaped and bent beater and smashed bearings and a broken ego... lol .
New scruffy looks pimp mate... the old ond was hard to get hold of as it was!
charge the lipo and ts3 is ready to go n all :p......
Scruff 4 will be more like 2 unless 3s armour proves a success
And we really do need to do a rematch next year
Is the body of Scruffy 3 tubing cut in half? It looks really strong.
yeh i had a load of 75mm diameter tube that was getting rusty and thought it might deflect the spinners so decided to give it a go
That's a good idea. Were you taught to weld properly or did you just have a shot? Been umming and arring about buying an Arc Welder and literally just having a go. Girlfriend's not so keen like.
I started with an arc welder when I about 12 years ago just attempting to do HW chassis which wasn't great but my welding got better with practice I did eventually do an aprentaship in welding but I still uae y old arc welder now
-- a rematch with me do you mean?
Yes but I would also like to have another crack at binky and 720 lol
fight the best first then fight binky and 720 after ;)
but yeah bring it on, im not entering TS3 next year but will keep it together for our renatch :) - bored of spinners and since almost everyones making them im entering something new :)
Oh is it any of the standard weapon styles or something original
ive got a few different weapon types in mind! gonna be something very different thou :) :)
Here here for spinner boredom!
Spinners have only really been making a name for themselves and getting reliable in the last couple of years, and only run once a year yet people are getting bored of them already? I wish flipper boredom would hurry up and start hitting people :P
1 event a year? At least 4 for us on the main land.
Yeah we know, I was of course talking from a UK perspective.
mabye bored is the wrong phrase, but the champs just gone was the 3rd year of running that weapon- cant believe i got the beater made 3 years ago! and if nst hadnt wrote it off id have probabily entered it next year too, but i just fancy a change for next year. At the champs theres a real lack of crushers, axes etc so i really wana make something different something that puts the fear in an apponent! :)
please not a crusher lol
definatly something damaging!! :D
I hope to be entering an axe next year alongside Satanix, just gotta find another driver.
thatd be cool :)- and gotta say satanix had some good fights and your driving was brilliant in some too!
i think the champs need a bit more of a selection of robots for next year, heard a good few conversations of roboteers saying 'im building a vertical spinner for next year' so i think im happy to claim the title of the current best beater in the uk ;D (to my knowledge) and move onto something else for a bit aha
>UK
ok done a bit more to scruffy 3, just have to shape the scoop a bit and slope the sides then i can start making a different scoop design

Its a fair call - Mr Mangle is over in Australia most of the year and until its finished it's upgrades, we don't really know how hard its going to hit. OTOH, it would be fun to have a grudge match at next year's Nats event...
I'm getting a little bored with all this building and no competing - if there is a larger UK event this year. I'd be booking a flight over real quick :).
How often do you get to compete over there ?
Back in the day, we had eight local events a year and one or two larger interstate events. Nowadays, we are down to just one or two events each year :(
That sucks :( Because I'm very fond of Full Combat, I tend to go to Germany twice a year and occasionally Belgium and holland for spinner-friendly events.
Haha, going to Belgium for an event would be a disaster for me - too much much delicious beer to distract me! The problem with Australia is that its so large, under-populated and isolated. To get to our national event, I do a 2,000 km / 24 hour drive over a long weekend - not something you'd want to do that often.
ok started building some more BW so far im making a BW version of night fury fairly similar construction to glitch but will have 5mm aluminium armour
i was planning a 6wd with 3mm thick tool steel armour but as there is already a 6wd im now going for tracks using 4 motors to drive it
i havent really done much to scruffy 3 and im still toying with 2 ideas for night fury 2, just cant decide to stick with the original design but in thick hdpe of to make it more like like scruffy 2 with sloped sides 5mm steel and a few well placed reinforcements
ok thought i would make a BW spinner killer and here is is almost
http://i1052.photobucket.com/albums/...psaa01e030.jpg
the weapon will either be a 4 bar lifter or just a normal lifter (will need a bigger servo) it will quite happily push my other beetle weight side ways and the armour is 3mm tool steel
