Yes ...you could use 1/4 copper tube or pipe .... you will however need to source the correct fittings and olives.
I'd recommend nylon or plastic together with push fit fittings.
1/8 ports on the cylinder and valve together with 6mm o.d. tube should be fine for your proposed set up.

Obviously this is 10mm but im sure they do diff. sizes

Im currently building too...
Ive got 5/2 valve with 1/4 bsp ports with 10mm pipe and 1/4bsp fittings on the ram will this be sufficient??
What regulators you using peoples? I need one asap.

yes im building a feather...
the ram is a small hydraulic ram... id say it was 30mm wide and the stroke is about 80-100mm
