Re: Crash & Burn: Mini-Tournament of Death 3
Battle time again!

The Final Cut vs. Gabriel V
The Final Cut's new to the scene, but that doesn't make him any less dangerous! A Hardox-armoured beast, H-shaped with tracks, and decent drive to power them is all good and well, but the real strength is in its weapon: a scary 35kg horizontal spinning disc in the middle! Its diameter reaches out past the body's entire length, so wedges beware! That being said, it won't have the manoeuvrability of wheeled machines...
and Gabriel V, sadly, is a wheeled machine. :proud: 2 wheels, in fact. Around those 2 wheels are C40-300 Magmotors, a 25mm stainless steel frame, a 4mm Hardox main body and a powerful front-hinged flipper that can toss nearly 3 tonnes! It has a tool steel nose cone and side spikes as well, removeable titanium skirts on the sides and back, and two giant ears to prevent machine from going over the top. Sadly, with 16mph it'll be hard to control this 2WD beast...

Straight away Gabriel V is out, its game plan to take out the disc before it takes him out! However, The Final Cut is, incredibly, the faster of the two, and while not having the better acceleration, backs off before Gabriel can even get halfway across the arena! Its plan falling apart, Gabriel turns face and goes for the pit release button, but Andy isn't blind and sees the change of plans. The Final Cut charges, guns-a-blazing, towards the area, but unfortunately forgets about the arena saws! BZZT! Luckily they haven't carved him up too much, but that's allowed Gabriel to get away and reposition himself. Shaking his fist in the direction of the saws, Andy steers The Final Cut around to keep the disc facing its spunky opponent, whose thoughts are now on full-out aggression as Gabriel plunges towards Andy, the 'stop-the-disc' plan back on! Andy however simply turns his machine and Gabriel nearly shoots straight into the wall! He does turn around fast enough to meet The Final Cut's disc, though. The collision isn't too big, but it has put those killsaws to shame with the huge amount of sparks emanated. :proud: Gabriel, having slowed the disc down, moves in further, but The Final Cut isn't too far up the wedge to be blocked by the ears, and falls off to the side, the disc now completely stopped. Gabriel, not knowing anything else to do, flips. It really doesn't do much, as a track was barely hanging over the flipper in the first place, but the track falls back onto the ram before the flipper can be pulled back! Uh oh. Gabriel tries driving backwards, but the disc's held by the tool spike, so The Final Cut is dragged with Gabriel. Andy tries to move The Final Cut away, but neither of his tracks are really touching anything enough to gain traction to move. Gabriel moves towards the pit, his last resort, but at that instant The Watcher crashes into him, ordering Gabriel to 'let go'. You dingbat of a referee, they're stuck! Realizing this, The Watcher sticks his lifting arm in there to try and separate the two. Not only is this completely ineffective, but it forces The Final Cut's track to squeeze in through the 'hole' between the ram and the hinge of the flipper, which closes just a bit more, meaning they really are stuck now!
The audience starts booing; they didn't want to see two robots sit there and struggle with each other. Andy groans and tries to find some way out of this. Joey is looking the slightest bit confident, but also seems quite peeved. As for The Watcher, he can't seem to do much and decides to call for back-up. Renegade comes out of his CPZ at the ref's request, pincers snapping, but neither Gabriel or The Final Cut seem to want any part of this, and Joey guns towards the pit before the house robot can arrive. Andy is looking less happy than ever as the dark hole nears and nears, and flicks the controls back and forth, trying to get The Final Cut out of danger. Renegade pursues them, but Gabriel's on the edge of the pit, and goes side on to the edge, hoping against hope that The Final Cut falls in first...and that he does, dragging Gabriel in with him. :proud: Renegade pouts on the edge of the pit while Count Bleck randomly blasts smoke out of his top hat. Andy sets down the controls and after a moment's hesitation gives Joey the thumbs-up.
CEASE!
The Final Cut lives up to his name! It was no choice slice, let me tell you. :proud:

I need tactics from Tony and Nav.

Wasn't expecting that, but if it works it's okay I guess :P good fight Andy, and of course w00t for me.

Never mind, well done Joey and good battle Kody.
I think Qwertyuiop might win the next fight.

Re: Crash & Burn: Mini-Tournament of Death 3
Right. Both sets of tactics are already in, so let's gooo!
Eliminator 5
Lethal Weapon vs. Qwertyuiop
Lethal Weapon is a danger to everything around it...and itself! :proud: It's a skirted box with a curved front, which holds a 30kg spinning disc. It can produce very well over 100kJ and is shockproofed to deal with recoil...but will that be enough? 3mm Ti/V alloy armour is decent but not invincible, and 4WD with S28s powering them are decent as well. However, tight dimensions could have it seeing massive manoeuvrability problems.
Qwertyuiop is ready to kick your ASCII back to cyberspace! :proud: It's got a very powerful rear-hinged flipper at the front, and 7mm titanium body armour. Lynch drive on 48v ensures it'll have the nippier start by far, and sloped sides will help this wedge get on its back where it can self-right. However, with a 2WD set-up and 17mph top speed, it'll be out of control a bit. And it'll run out of flips eventually: CO2 doesn't last forever.

Strategy is key here, and Qwertyuiop starts off applying some by swerving around, trying to dodge the strokes of Lethal Weapon. The drivetrain is really slowing Lethal Weapon down and Qwertyuiop takes advantage; it sneaks around faster than Lethal Weapon can turn, and sliding under the side tosses it! Well, it could have been flipped, but strangely enough the gyroscopic tendencies of Lethal Weapon's disc caused it to bound into the air from the flip, seemingly hover for a bit, and crash back down, completely unharmed! Or so we think. We'll have to see. Anyway, Navaha brings his bot back on the attack again, as Lethal Weapon is a bit slow to try and keep up with the quirky wedge. So Tony spins it the other way, and Nav seeing this backs his machine the hell away, as Lethal Weapon's clever manoeuvre saves it from another flipping, for now. Tony, grinning, advances on the apprehensive flipperbot, who backs away further and then starts circling Lethal Weapon again. Tony goes for the turn around tactic again, but Nav...keeps turning! And past the disc! Tony wasn't expecting this at all; feverishly, he tries to turn and attack, but Qwertyuiop's snuck under the side of Lethal Weapon again; rather than simply toss, he thinks better of his strategy and tosses him into Hex's CPZ. The Queen of Chaos has her upper blades down and...oh dear.
CRASH!!!
Hexadecimal, that was very unwise of you, m'dear. The chaotic house robot finds herself missing a blade, as Lethal Weapon sheared it right off! However, it's stopped that disc, and Qwertyuiop moves in again, lifting Lethal Weapon overtop of Hexadecimal and further into the CPZ, where it's...still on Hex's remaining blades. Hex lifts it up and has it against the wall; Qwertyuiop is waiting in the center of the arena. Why he's not hitting the pit release, I don't quite know. Anyway Hex raises her upper blades all the way, and exposes the lower spinning blades! Lethal Weapon slides down the wall, thanks to the force of the disc, but not fast enough to avoid the house robot's fury!
CRASH!!!
However strong 3mm Ti/V is, it is not impervious to a hit like that! The underbelly takes a brutal dent as Lethal Weapon flies off the wall...and into the waiting wedge of Qwertyuiop, who deposits him back into Hex's CPZ! Unfortunately, Lethal Weapon's disc is still spinning, so that means...
CRASH!!!
Hex loses another blade! Apparently even house robots get brutalized by this thing! But certainly not the direct opponent so far! Qwertyuiop now has the spinning bot, who's not spinning at all, on its wedge...and it takes the box to the arena saws! Whoa! Lethal Weapon's weapon is spinning again! But you what what else is spinning! BZZT! That's right! Sparks time! The arena saws cut into the armour of Lethal Weapon and send those glittering fireworks across the arena! Qwertyuiop holds him there as long as he can, but eventually is forced to let him go, as The Watcher reminds him with a little nudge. Qwertyuiop backs off, and Lethal Weapon's...okay, I guess, but I see a great deal of smoke coming from the robot...oh no, the blade's spinning! Qwertyuiop watches warily, and then drives off as Lethal Weapon comes at it, apparently recovering from the earlier attacks but losing steam...er, smoke. :proud: Qwertyuiop suddenly drives into the arena saws, which stop him completely...no, they throw him back into Lethal Weapon!
CRASH!!!
...ooh. That wasn't pretty. A whole rear panel goes soaring away into an empty CPZ, Qwertyuiop itself sent spinning into a crazy dance! But...oh dear again. Lethal Weapon isn't moving. OH! That's why!!! A chain from the drivetrain has been severed, lying underneath Lethal Weapon's side! Actually...two of the wheels are spinning...but they aren't gaining enough traction to actually move the robot...what a shame, as the disc is still spinning as well. Qwertyuiop, however, is moving rather slowly...but it gets behind Lethal Weapon and starts pushing it towards...the arena wall! ...don't you dare!
CRASH!!!
You dared! How could you?! The poor arena! Actually, poor Lethal Weapon, it isn't looking so lethal anymore, the shock from hitting solid wall has abruptly put an end to its disc, the shockproofing not proof enough. As if to end all doubt, the almost expired Qwertyuiop moves under Tony's bot and with a weary flick, just manages to get the former spinner out. Navaha dances about, celebrating his first victory ever, while Tony facepalms.
CEASE!
Lethal Weapon? Pfft, we've all seen that before. :proud:

Re: Crash & Burn: Mini-Tournament of Death 3
Wa-hey! Look who's back. :proud:
Eliminator 6
Nitro-Gene 5.0 vs. Monsoon Season
Nitro-Gene 5.0. Yes, that robot. :proud: The one who came 4th in CB&3, and the recent C&B4 Heat Finalist. Completely unchanged, with overvolted S28-400 MagMotors and 4WD to propel the invertible angled box to 20mph quite quickly. Its has compact dimensions, but big enough to accommodate the Nitrogen-powered flipper that can send robots flying...however, those flips are very limited. It also brings to the table a 3.25mm Hardox monocoque, and 4.5mm titanium skirts around the body proving mildly impervious to spinner assault. Will Nitro-Gene burn out or boost its way to the top? :proud:
Monsoon Season looks to wash away its opponent in style. It's an angled box wedge with a body shell constructed from a piece of 30mm HDPE, the stuff that doesn't break. :proud: The Atomic-style flipper is made from 4mm Hardox, and is powered by 3 1.1kg CO2 tanks and 2 80mm stroke 6mm bore rams, so you don't need to be a rocket scientist to know that those flips will hurt. :proud: It's got 35 of them too, so it can outlast its opponent. It also has more power in the LEM130 it powers its drive with, and has tracks for more traction. Having tracks, though, won't see it being as manoeuvrable...

Yowch! That was a blindingly fast start! And it's Nitro-Gene who's flown across the arena before Monsoon Season has even moved a few inches! The said Monsoon Season is met by the tenacious C&B3 finalist with an almighty CRASH, but, strangely enough, neither can seem to get their flipper under the other robot! They struggle in this position, and surely enough Daniel wins the pushing match with his greater drivetrain. Paul however pulls back immediately and Monsoon is sent flying forward, a perfect opportunity for Paul to take! Which he does, sliding under the 7mm clearance and taking Monsoon to the...no. Just no. Nitro-Gene lost control of Monsoon Season and Daniel's robot falls right off the flipper, leaving Monsoon with the advantage now! Paul can't even blink before Monsoon's flipper sends his robot onto its back! Nitro-Gene hurriedly races off to right itself, with Monsoon pounding away after it! The flip comes, and Nitro-Gene goes into a 540 before crashing magnificently onto its 4 wheels on the arena floor. Which is fine by Daniel because he gets straight back under Nitro-Gene before the latter can even turn and tosses him again! Nitro-Gene rides the arena railing before falling back into the arena, but still on its back, and on the edge of a CPZ. It drives away lest a house robot migrate to the choice spot, and...no, Monsoon's under it! Daniel doesn't flip yet, thoughl; his main tactic is getting Paul to waste his robot's flips, but Paul isn't flipping anything either! So Monsoon holds Nitro-Gene against the arena wall for quite a bit, as the crowd becomes quite bored, and eventually it's Watcher time, as the ref barges in and forces Monsoon to...flip Nitro-Gene! Oh, that was a close-r, t'was! Another arena railing bouncing, but Nitro-Gene finds itself still on its back, thankfully still inside the arena though! Monsoon approaches again, but Paul is ready, and this Nitro-Gene rights itself...in a perfect imitation of Mute! A 540 right overtop of Monsoon! Ah, but there's no aerials to make Monsoon go all nutty... :proud:
Knowing this Paul attacks Daniel's machine, but Monsoon's quick enough to get his own flipper into play, and again the two metal behemoths lock horns, or in this case flippers. Paul pulls away, hoping that Daniel falls for the same trick, but no go! Dan hadn't taken the bait and remained right where he was! Now he drives forward but Nitro-Gene smacks into him again! And finally one of the two fluippers gets under the other. The winner? Monsoon Season! Though not the battle, yet, sir. :proud: Having taken all of Nitro-Gene's wheels off the ground, Monsoon drives forward again and tosses Nitro-Gene across the arena. You know, in an awkward way, Nitro-Gene looked like a dog trying to catch a frizbee in mid-air, just then. :proud: It does catch the ground though, and is belly up, though not in the mood for a tummy tickle and re-rights itself...or does it? Nope, it went into a 450 and crashed onto its snout...before coming back down onto its back! Apparently he's running short of full pressure now! Seeing this, Monsoon leaves Nitro-Gene in its self-righting misery and goes for the pit release button...but Nitro-Gene is right behind it! Daniel, didn't you realize that Paul's machine is invertible? :proud: Not that it makes much difference...or does it? Nitro-Gene's rear skirt finds Monsoon's rear and gets under it, the angled rear of the body not hindering the progress at all as Monsoon is slammed against the pit release button...what's that sly grin on Paul's face?! ...oh wow. So that was the plan! Pity it didn't work as hoped. Nitro-Gene flipped itself while under Monsoon, sending the Britespark flipper very nearly OOTA but Monsoon just manages to stay in the arena, performing an excellent replication of Nitro-Gene's railing bouncings, before coming to rest inverted! But Nitro-Gene ISN'T inverted now! As Monsoon self-rights, Nitro-Gene pummels it from the side, gets under, and flips...and suffers because its flipper isn't powerful enough to get Monsoon Season over the fence this time! It has however pinned the fellow flipper against the arena wall, so it holds Monsoon there for a few seconds, then tries flipping it again. The effect is somewhat weaker, even then, as Monsoon is carefully rolled along the wall onto its back. Monsoon self-rights, but again the tenacious Nitro-Gene is back on its case, wedging it immediately and pushing it into Rorschach's CPZ! Who watches the Watchman? Why, the Watcher, who else? :proud: But for now Rorschach can have his fun as Monsoon is swept into the plow/scoop, and squeezd by the claw! Ooooh...HDPE, however thick it is, it's not holding up to the piercing beak. Look at that, what a major hole in the armourment! Damocles isn't moving from his CPZ, content to let Rorschach do away with the Britespark machine, but Rorschach lets Monsoon go...has damage been caused internally? Daniel answers this question with a hefty ram to the front of Nitro-Gene, who'd been loafing about in the center of the arena and not paying quite as much attention as he should have. And thus Nitro-Gene is wedged onto the fellow flipper and taken the opposite way of Rorschach's CPZ...unfortunately, that's Damocles' CPZ! This won't end well!
CRASH!!!
No it does not! The rear skirt deflected a bit of the blow, but the rear panel above it got cut into quite nastily, a large gash even in that Hardox monocoque! Dear or dear, it's also sent the Insanity machine back over, inverted! This of course means Monsoon's lost control of it, but it does mean Nitro-Gene has to self-right again...and it barely does. But it took too much time to self-right and Monsoon is the early bird, sliding under the rear skirt and then under the main body, tossing it over once more! It then pushes Nitro-Gene...towards the pit! Nitro-Gene can't get away in time...and doesn't trouble to. What's this about? Dan notices this too, and pushes the wedged Nitro-Gene a bit slower, wondering what Paul has up his sleeve...then it guns forward! Paul expects this and hits the flipper button, as Nitro-Gene throws itself off of Monsoon AND OVER THE PIT!!! AND MONSOON NEARLY GOES IN!!! What! A! Tactic! It didn't work out fully the way Paul wanted it to, but Nitro-Gene survives longer! Will it be in vain? Monsoon backs WELL away from the pit, and drives around it to find the Nitrogen user, only to find the cheeky bugger coming in from the side! It wedges Monsoon...but can't seem to flip him! I think the flipper's power is very well gone! It does however push Monsoon back into Rorschach's CPZ, where the house robot gladly makes a second date with the HDPE of Monsoon, creating another wide indent with the beak! This time Nitro-Gene hovers near the CPZ, wanting to capitalize on a release, but Rorschach isn't letting go yet! It pushes Monsoon against the wall of the CPZ and makes yet another hole, this time right near the flipper! Will that damage them? Daniel tries to pull away but there's no escaping the wrath of the crushing weapon! At least until Rorschach finally lets him go after that...and yes Monsoon is definitely moving slower! Evidently some electronics have been damaged, and there's Nitro-Gene right back in Monsoon's face...but to no avail, as Monsoon gets under it! Seeing the pit ahead, Monsoon drives towards it, and this time there's no help for Nitro-Gene as Monsoon gets it down!
CEASE!
Nitro-Gene? More like Halo-Gene, for heaven's where Paul's machine is now. :proud:

No I'm not cancelling this! We're almost halfway through, what's the point? :proud:
Eliminator 7
Under Pressure vs. Symmetry
Under Pressure is gonna put the squeeze on you with its double crusher set-up. The claws below are actually wedges and they aim to get under opposing robots' sides, where the real claws on top come in, fine-pointed to pierce through all in its grasp. The whole claw set-up is armoured in 3.5mm Hardox and is powered by a Vivoil pump and LEM130 running it. It can run invertible but it doesn't work as well inverted. MagMotors run the actual 2WD and 5mm titanium guards the 'main body' between the claw axles, but it has huge ground clearance around the claws, except at the tips of the bottom ones. That and it's quite cumbersome.
For a robot called Symmetry, it ain't symmertical when you split it down the middle on the x-axis, but I'm just being picky now. :proud: It's rather round and tall, with 2WD (4WD in actuality, but the wheel set-up is that of Crushtacean, note ;)) making it invertible. Hardox armouring protects its vitals and it has a low enough ground clearancem, but the real threat is the counter-rotating discs powered by Perm 080 motors. Such counter-rotations prevent overbalancing, and the discs are ridiculously powerful. Not a robot for the long battles, however, as the batteries will drain very quickly.

And we're underway yet again in the MToD 3! Under Pressure comes forward immediately, seeking an early end of its opponent down the pit, but Symmetry has other plans. It swerves around the claws, only to find them in front of it again. Martijn's full-body crusher isn't too shoddy at turning, and it races forwards again as Symmetry tries to turn and attack. The result is that the lower disc grinds against the area between Under Pressure's right upper and lower claws, and comes to a halt, while the upper one spins aimlessly. Grinning broadly, Martijn activates the crusher and closes it in against its enemy, the claws shut tight on the disced robot, and Martijn drags it over to the pit release. Leo tries to get away but it's hopeless! Naught you can do now, me disced friend; the pit descends and Under Pressure drags Symmetry over to it! What a quick match this is! Under Pressure has inherited the spirit of T.A.N., tough as nails as it dumps Symmetry into the pit and completes a very quick and very excellent match! However...Asterix Anarchius, feeling robbed of a good time, rockets over suddenly and dumps Under Pressure into the pit itself! :proud:
