The message from David is a bit terse but the Battlebots rumours circulate every year(5 at least)
April is a bit close to get machines built and ready as the build rules have been written by a lawyer and not an engineer
This would suggest that it is wishfull thinking again maybe.
Why the Battlebots folk do not use the RFL ruleset which is very similar to our own European build rules defies logic.
Approx 200 machines conform to either ruleset so why create another.
On a personal view as a hydraulic machine user the 3000 psi(207 bar)pressure limit is a joke when others use up to date materials such as hardox etc.
I might have it wrong but certificates or engineering calculations are required for non standard components
Does a home made buffer tank require a cert at 1.5 times the 70 bar maximum gas pressure?or do you bamboozle the lawyer with your own stress calculations.
The Entrant is required to supply data sheets and/or computations and/or certified hydrotesting results to prove that the custom component is properly designed and built to have a burst pressure that is 300% of the maximum pressure that the component will be subjected to during operation
Also note that ANY physical modification to a std pneumatic or hydraulic part may put it into the custom component bracket.

Ian has spoke to greg, its going ahead with sign ups opening soon. no need for an eo to post things like that on other eo threads.
Battlebots do of course have competent technical personal, not lawyers, that examine competitors applications, if required.
The Battlebot contract / lawyers bit is here...http://www.battlebots.com/downloads/forms/BB-Individual-Owner-Agreement-09.pdfhttp://www.battlebots.com/downloads/...reement-09.pdf
For anyone who does not have corporate lawyers at their disposal it is a case of caveat emptor ....or let the buyer beware.
Just to put the exclusive rights stuff into context...
Battlebots in the past have developed toy ranges and video games based on various robots. Obviously if they go to a lot of expense developing a toy of a robot, they dont want to find out later that there is another toy of the same robot competing against it in the shops. Hence the exclusive bit.
We were fortunate enough to get a toy deal with KillerHurtz in the States and, from what I have heard, it was more lucrative than the toy deals for even the most popular robots here in the UK.
Without that toy deal, I would not have been able to build beta. So I am very happy to sign an exclusive rights deal with Battlebots.
Is anyone from the UK going over we can cheer for? :)
If it goes ahead, Warhead and Beta are due to go.
