Id just like to wish the UK Robotic Games team the best of luck for their first regional final tomorrow in what will hopefully be the start of a successful competition. Oh, and good luck to the competitors as well.
Regards,
Lenny
P.S. Who else from on here is attending the Northern Heat - just so I know what were up against :)
Just back. What a great day! Every team seemed to have a great time and the football was brill! Cant wait for the next one!
We just got back with three very tired kids. They have had a great time and want to do more events next year. Going to have to start a club methinks!!!
We will have to do extra driving practice, not just two days like this time. Trying to get the kids together is not easy.
Im sorry I was unable to attend. I knew on Tuesday that I hadnt enough time to fix the IBC and get the other machines ready. Perhaps I could enter one of the final-only events? Water Wars sounds interesting...
Its great to hear the qualifier went well, good luck with the northern qualifier and the final!
Yes, congratulations to Paul, and Jackie, and Ian, and Stu, and Ian and Jonno and John and the list goes on and on for running the event so well. There was a really friendly atmosphere all day, the kids all got really stuck into the competitions, and the enthusiasm and excitement was fabulous, loads of giggling, shakey nervous thoroughy jacked up students, this sort of engagement with their subject is what teachers are after. I overheard one team, amid their squeaks of delight at getting through the heats, planning how they were going to spend their lunchtimes reworking and rebuilding ready for next time.
Mission achieved.
My only suggestion for a better day would be to get the refreshments stand to be really refreshing and sell deoderant. 100 sweaty teenage boys (obviously the girls didnt sweat)is a powerful thing....
