Got a hell of a lot done at the weekend. Latest pic of hornet 2 on profile. Only got to mount magmotor, mount drills at the back and sort out the pulleys between the mag and disc.
Just out of curiosity, what is the leeway on the weight limit at events? I am sure I can remember a figure of 5% but I want to make sure as I have a feeling i will be close to the 13kg mark. I will probably have to replace the polycarb on the front and machine some holes in the disc supports.
Damn thats looking nice !
Better get into action with my drum bot , done nothing to it in weeks
It is 2%, meaning you have 12 kg 250 grams on the scales.
Things to save weight on: size, armored air, the disk supports and a lot on batteries (if you want to use a mag S28-400 youll want to feed at least 18V)
Go for polypro over polycarb on the front and mill out the disc supports a little. No wheel protection? :)
I think I need to do a lot to my robot to bring it down in weight, because my side/back/front armour comes to about 2kg, my axe mech 3kg, and the lid I am uncertian, and the bot weighs about 6-7kg already!
Looks good tony, shame to scratch up the lovely paint job. Gary that thing looks scary.
Ewan, I have decided to go for mobility instead of protection. I dont really want to get jammed up against a wall with nowhere to move.
Adrian, I am afraid of it!
As a rule of thumb, robots with powerful wepaons dont tend to get away with being over the weight limit at all, but even if it is there are robots that will still fight it out side of the main competition (whiteboard) fights. Little spinner wouldnt mind a go. 2 MAG powered spinners against each other :) that would be interesting.
Certainly would be mark :)
