Re: 2010 Featherweight UK Championships - 3 Days September
Both robots done and should be ready for the fun :D
I think the idea of no fight no points seems fair, the chance of either one of our robots getting a knock out means this rule won't apply by default. :uhoh:
Looking forward to seeing everyone's efforts on the drag racing side, it may get me interested in making something next year.

Re: 2010 Featherweight UK Championships - 3 Days September
Got boner running well, it's insane on two speed 900s with lipos! Got a slight alignment issue on the ride on racer with the clutch, hopefully a quick disassembly and realignment should sort that out. Stock racer is good to go and I haven't built a modified yet but have plans for a VERY crude one.
Incidentally does anyone has a spare male connector for the non ride on racers I could buy off you at the event?

Re: 2010 Featherweight UK Championships - 3 Days September
Aftershock 2 is finished just needs charging and some gas and its ready to go.
Whirlpool still needs work doing to it- motor needs replacing just opened up the old one and the gearbox is completely smashed got a spare but its being a real pain to replace since i can't get the wheel or mount off the old motor. If I can get that done then it needs some more anti spinner armour fitted.
I will also be bringing Whirlwind along to have a go in any whiteboards.
Finally the dragster is finished made a few changes this year- now its 4WD with some very nice new wheels fitted so its looking good.
Also I'll be camping thursday/friday/saturday just a small tent, Dad will be coming along on saturday as well.
Looking forward to it now- just hope I can finish Whirlpool in time.

Re: 2010 Featherweight UK Championships - 3 Days September
Just given Drumroll II its first spin-up. Well, semi spin-up; I was holding the motor with my hand so didn't feel safe taking it up to anything more than 1/3rd throttle but it goes like stink at that 8)
Some balancing is in order as it does have a bit of wobble to it but first I'm off to mount the motor in place so I can do a full on test :)
Should all be ready to go in two days.
-
Re: 2010 Featherweight UK Championships - 3 Days September
Well it took a while but Whirlpool is running on all 4 wheels once again not sure if I'll have time to fit any more armour but at least its moving.
Just got to pack everything up and we're ready to go, even found a full gas bottle so Aftershock 2 is ready to enter the arena with a few days to go- must be a record for us

Re: 2010 Featherweight UK Championships - 3 Days September
Hi John
Sorry there's going on since your question ... Toony spinny thingy , as you put it, is working fine & has been ready & waiting for 2 weeks now .... It just wants to play. I believe if I'd had this disc on Scorpion Evil I would have killed Tiny Toon long ago.
Looking forward to the event
See you all Friday
John
PS There is going to be a form for every machine that will need filling out so that judging can be monitored completely.
Good Luck to all

Re: 2010 Featherweight UK Championships - 3 Days September
flywheel on my ride on has cracked so unless i'm able to find a replacement/repair it then I'm most likely out of the ride on competition :(
-
Re: 2010 Featherweight UK Championships - 3 Days September
I'm sorry all but I've not finished Tanto and I'm not gonna get time to now, I'm gonna have to drop out :(

Re: 2010 Featherweight UK Championships - 3 Days September
im still going, Just gunna take the ride on for a mess about. Could have brought savage evo and a rambot but it means packing radio gear, more tools and the chargers. Be a nice long weekend break not having to mess about repairing robots and stuff. just gunna throw Stihl bike in back of car and thats it prob. Then still got to repair and test stihl bike. Its still not been run or tested since I broke the engine a few month ago. Was going to test it tonight bud had no 2stroke on me. Its low on compression and im using a flywheel and ignition module of something else and really low compression. in testing I got it doing 38mph before it died. be lucky if it does 10-15 now.

Re: 2010 Featherweight UK Championships - 3 Days September
360 sweepstakes!!
To add a bit of fun to proceedings we have decided to run a fun little sweepstake on which part of 360 will break first in the champs. Quid to get in, pick a part, winner takes all.
Note that the winner will take the cash based on the first part to break, ie needing a repair job to get the robot back up and running. Scratches to armour don't count and if anyone kicks up a fuss and doesn't play for fun then you're out :)
Currently,
Kenny - Disc esc
Me - Self righter
Dave - connector blocks on the scorpion

Re: 2010 Featherweight UK Championships - 3 Days September
My bets on one of the wheel guards :) I'm in.
-
Re: 2010 Featherweight UK Championships - 3 Days September
Jeez, the entries are fair dropping off now.
Oh well, if everyone wants to pull out I won't mind. Quite fancy getting my hands on a DX7 :)
I'll place £1 on the whole robot breaking 8)
Okay, maybe not. All the good bits are taken so I'm going to go for the potentiometer on the self-righting arm.
-
Re: 2010 Featherweight UK Championships - 3 Days September
I recon the pinion gear on the disk motor, its about time that broke.
As for me Dragster is not working, Asgard is not working yet, can't get the valves to work properly and DB5 has a blown vantec. All is not well.
-
Re: 2010 Featherweight UK Championships - 3 Days September
I'm sure I have a couple spare electronize you can throw in DB5 ed? Not as nice as the vantec but more reliable :)

Congratulations to All our winners, it was a fantastic event and a lot of hard destructive battles. Keep going you guys with the spinners, they are getting awesome. I also wish to thank Robochallenge for the event, Grant, James and all their crew worked extremely hard.
I also wish to thank all the roboteers for helping and doing such a good job with the judging, it all seemed to run very well. So thank you to you all for helping the event to run as smoothly as it did.
