..if anyone has the discount code for T-bots can they PM it to me please :)
not done an update in a while been busy with work and other stuff..
Haven't done anything on my projects but ive been running a voluntary course to get kids involved in engineering via cadburys..
Helped them design and build a power tool drag racer ;

Wont be that fast as its only powered by a 31cc strimmer engine- quite lightweight though, and the kids who will be driving it dont exactly weigh a lot..
in the background you can see our other project- the shell eco challenge petrol car, basically the same thing but even lighter with an areodynamic shell and a 4stroke engine instead of a 2 stroke...
Thats cool.
Haven't had an offer quite what i was after for 360, seems a shame to leave it in my wardrobe so Ive had a look at it...
Going to bite the bullet and fork out for a scorpion XXL and a 6s outrage lipo to give the drive a bit more boost so i can use the magnet, after testing at the gadgetshow live with the new disc motor and disc combination properly 360 has now gone from being slightly silly to drive to totaly un-controllable, so for competition fights id either have to run half throttle or put the magnet in it.. dont see much point in having a weapon like that and not being able to use it to its maximum potential :)
I'll get pictures and stuff when i make some progress :) Hopefully it will be done in time for the uk's so i can smash beauty again.
lol in ya dreams ;)
ill tell LJ and see what he thinks ;)
Small update-
During the gadgetshow live demo's i had to smash up a few printers.. someone left the catridge in and my fancy disc paintjob got totaled.. that and the plastic from the printer shreded the lacure.. so i spent about an hour polishing the disc back to how it used to be,
Not sure if i should get tom to airbrush me another spiral on or not?
before;

after the elbow grease;
http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/v...s/6ce2bfab.jpg
I've also ordered a 6s lipo pack to run the drive of, as an upgrade from the 4s it used to run on... going to try the magnet out again and see if it has enough power now, ive got a feeling it will be ok aslong as the ground clearance is ok. Ill order the scorpion xxl soon.
The lipo i ordered;
http://www.fast-lad.co.uk/store/outrage ... -9953.html
I have 400g to play with, so hopefully the bigger lipo and the magnet should still be within the weight limit. Im sure it will be.
Looks better without spiral. Put a sausage on the disk so one ends near the center of the disk and the other end towards the outside of the disk and spin it, record it and upload vid to youtube.
dave, missed a bit on the center of the disk.....
I know, couldn't be bothered to un bolt the centre cap, I'll do it tomorow :)
As awesome as Tom's paint jobs are, and as frequently as I asked when you were going to get a spiral painted on the disc, I have to say it now looks better without it :lol:
have you heard anything more about getting its picture taken with hypno disc?
no news on any pics with hypno.. totaly forgot to be honest...
Good news :)..
Shrimec FINALY works.. mechanicaly lol.
Think the reason it was failing before was due to a worm gear sliding down the shaft when going one direction- the gear was grub screwed to the shaft which has a flat down the length of it, when it moved forward it rubed on the gearbox front plate causing it to grind then stall..... just put a dimple in it for the grub screw to sit in and it seems to of helped...
now turns over in about a second.
the speedo's are of to dave gamble again so he can repair them... should go back together nicely.
Also should be making a start on the new mounting for the new lipo tomorow.
battery box made, just needs welding up;
http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/v...s/58f0a1f8.jpg
Scorpion XXL turned up from robot marketplace, just a picture showing the size difference between the xxl and the sabertooth 10a;
http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/v...s/23e4b960.jpg
hmm going to have to make a new mount for it.. but it looks like it going to fit, just about!
http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/v...s/6e7c97af.jpg
scorpion xxl Mount/heatsink finnished;
http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/v...s/16ba1226.jpg
going to finnish the battery box and link mount tomorow, both are nearly done, about an hours work probably...
Might also start on a new armour shell.. due to a few nasty axe's and crushers being made im making a new shell from grade 5 titanium.
360s now running on 6s- its alot better now, so im happy with that.. going to try it with a magnet soon hopefully on some steel flooring..
got 540 half designed... the idea being i can take the blade of and use it for normal events.. put it on and ive got a 6000rpm 4kg blade..

Feedback welcome :)
Looks rubbish :proud:
*puts serious head on*
Looks quite compact, only being a drill and two wheels wide, so should leave enough weight to pack a punch.
looks rate good!
i dont think he was using drills he was gonna use dewalt motors or something like that
I might be nitpicking here but surely deWalts come from drills, just very high end ones?
The design looks absolutely awesome though, very scary :)
Me and Ed did abit on the PTDR today.. firstly we did the ignition panel;
http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/v...s/5faab09a.jpg
Then we joined two engines together with a 30degree timing angle..
http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/v...s/4ea6300a.jpg
cool :)
well, it finally happened, 360s over weight..
Cut the side armor down, took of the spikes and without the new BEC, 2 deans and a fuse its 5grams under weight...
Got to try and find 100gram somewhere, as id like to get it to around 13.5kg, so grants surface grinding 0.4mm of the base of the disc.. its the only place left to get a bit of weight from. Id like to claw enough weight back for the spikes if possible :) looks a bit bland without them :( hopefully 100g wont make a massive difference to the KE of the disc :evil:
Still having issues with the scorpion xxl cutting out- so thats going to hopefully get sent back for a replacement and the same with the disc controllers going of for repair as soon as i get the ok from castle creations to send them back.
could you upgrade to a123's to save weight ?
or are you allready on them
A123's aren't good enough. 360 runs on lipo packs :) much better discharge rates, much smaller and way lighter
IT FINALLY WORKS :proud:

Absolutely w00tiful! :-)
Thats a great self RIGHTER, Just wondering, how do you drive the robot ? I drive either Left stick forward and back and right stick steering, or all on the right stick. You have the right stick sideways as the self-righter, do you drive all on the left ?
looking nice :D
and he uses a tx with the stearing wheel on it to drive it same as razer used to use
LOL my spelling sucks..
I drive it on a DX3R pistol grip, Kenny is my weapons man and does the throttle for the blade on the throttle channel of my DX7.. the self righter is done on the right hand stick.. pull left is to lift the arm up, let go and it automaticaly centralises...i set it up like that because its him who has to control it and its what suits him best
I never liked running a 2wd robot on a pistol grip but for a robot that drives like 360 or razer it feels alot more controlable...try to think of the steering wheel as the disc (or the crusher tip on razer), the rest of the robot rotates around it because my disc axle (or his claw tip) is smack between the two front wheels..
Hard to explain ill just let you drive it some time.
Ah I see, didn't realise it was on 2 remotes. I know what you mean about pivoting on the front of the robot, on razer and Hypno-disc/360 I just thought it was due to the Omni-wheels/disc on each respective robot, didn't really consider it to be a TX thing :)
its not a tx thing as such, it would drive the same way on any tx, it just feels better on a pistol grip :)
got some parts for the new one :)
http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/v...s/690c87d0.jpg
Picked them up from an Aussie for $150Aus... not bad :) Also got a sidewinder, some 3.2mm hardox and some 5mm ti sorted for it. Just need some big billets of alumec89 now for the chassis, some ali bar to machine the wheels from and a lipo.
Think I'm going to just keep 540 as a rammer for a bit to use at normal events- and to play with when 360 breaks down lol
Not sure yet if i should go for 4WD or 6wd though.
your bed sheet has flowers on it
correction...
My girlfriends bed sheet has dewalts on it :)
Win.
lol well my bed sheets got your 5mm ti and 3.2 hardox on it :P
Done a little bit today with Ed.

http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/v.../360spinup.jpg
Somehow its over 500rpm faster then it used to be... More KE = more fun :)
see in your pic, i just brought a aerobee!! takes me back, i remember them from the 80's.
good luck dave, dont forget beauty 4 can go through losers melee, so take no prisoners!
sorry john but u had a good run :wink:
Does the speedo have a case to go over the top ?
Yeah its called armor :P lol
