Doh, I thought tracks had more traction than 6WD, but whatever. :proud: Good fights Liam.
Considering I dont want to fight Axeon in the Heat Final, I will attack Axeon and try and get it out. The front barbs should penetrate the ground clearance easily and I have more than enough armour to withstand his axe blows. Basically power under with my huge power advantage, flip it, and push somewhere nasty, or pit it, or OOTA it. Will team up with Danny if he wants.

Im gonna hit Mega Mashers wheels I guess. Clamp something and pit something seems like a good idea too. I believe Mega Mashers ground clearance would allow me to do so without any problem. That disc is still something to watch out for though. A team up with Hannibal would be appriciated.

Hello and welcome to Robot SMASH!! , where Heat H is about to get going. After this heat we€™ll be halfway through the heats, so buckle your seatbelts- it€™s gonna be a bumpy ride!
Tonight will see the return of the number #15 seed Wedginator Devilution, who was stopped only by the eventual champion Wedge Devolution last season.

Mega Masher 2 is like a lighter version of the Battlebots super heavyweight Minion, which enjoyed a lot of success. However, this robot is invertible as well as having a srimech and a powerful vertical flywheel to boot.

This Dutch machine bears a strong resemblance to Chaos 2 in terms of shape, and the flipper is powerful enough to be getting on with. However, the armour isn€™t really up to scratch and the machine has been around for a while.

This semi-barrel shaped robot has a nice meaty axe and a front titanium scoop to get underneath opponents. The front of the robot is nicely armoured, but the rest is polycarbonate and so could get torn apart by spinners.
In RS!!1: Looked promising, and delivered some powerful axe blows to Super Gore Evo, but the polycarbonate armour proved too weak and its drive motors were pierced in round one of the heat.

Immediately as this opening three-way melee gets underway you can see the potency in Mega Masher 2€™s weaponry as the meaty flywheel begins to spin up, but it€™s Axe to Fall who€™s first on the attack, driving towards Christopher Mason€™s Minion-alike and giving it a nice slam from the side with that axe! Chris looks annoyed and turns around to take a chunk out of Axe to Fall with that flywheel, doing so with ease and now there€™s a large gash in the side armour! But Hannibal doesn€™t want to be left out of the proceedings and comes on the attack of Mega Masher 2, getting underneath the temporarily motionless flywheel and sending Christopher Mason€™s robot up and over onto its back! Mega Masher 2 is invertible and so drives away, but meanwhile now Axe to Fall has recovered from the attack and hits the pit release button. The siren wails and Hannibal attacks Mega Masher 2 again, this time flipping Chris onto the killsaws! BZZT! He€™s knocked away, but spins up and attack Hannibal side on, ripping through the armour and flipping Hannibal on its back in one easy move! Hannibal self-rights, and now we get a nice insight on that top armour- there€™s a nasty gash on the side and Hannibal is defenceless from that angle now, so quickly drives away from Mega Masher 2, who is attacked side on by Axe to Fall, who€™s dangerous weaponry comes right down on top of the wheels! Chris looks worried, and rightly so it seems as Martijn now pulls Mega Masher 2 across the arena and towards the pit of oblivion! The crowd roars, and Mega Masher 2 struggles in an attempt to escape, but it€™s no good and Christopher finds himself sitting on thin air for a comedy second before Mega Masher 2 falls into the chasm and out of the competition!

That was a good display from all three machines, but Mega Masher 2 ends up in the pit while Axe to Fall and Hannibal go marching on!

Chris: Thanks, but it wasn€™t too bad.
Me: Not at all, your flywheel did some nasty damage to Hannibal and Axe to Fall.
Chris: Yes, it€™s a shame I couldn€™t get through.
Me: Who do you think will win the heat?
Chris: Hannibal and Axe to Fall both have a chance, I guess, but the real contenders are in the next melee.
Me: Who would that be?
Chris: Wedginator and Axeon, those two are the ones to watch I think.
Me: Wedginator is seed number #15, do you think that€™ll help at all?
Chris: It€™ll help in the bookies heads, nowhere else, certainly not the coliseum.
Me: Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, now let€™s go to the coliseum for the second eliminator!
Eliminator 2
Created and entered by Kody Kunz, the number #15 seed, Wedginator Devilution!
Redesigned after last season, this robot has an intuitive three-part front hinged flipper on the front wedge, and powerful top armour all over, but the underneath is not so strong if someone could find a way to attack it.
In RS!!1: (as Wedginator 6.0) Looked extremely promising in the eliminator, enjoying an extremely hard battle with a very dangerous and potent robot, The 6isc. But The 6isc couldn€™t get through the armour and was flipped out of the arena by the all-around flipper. But in round 2 another tough draw came up and Kody€™s flipper hit the camera tracks after a hard battle with Wedge Devolution, the eventual champion.
Created and entered by Danny Bailey, Lethal Injection!
An interesting axlebot with prongs between the wheels designed to trap opponents before the robot€™s flywheel comes in to finish the job with a nice whack. However, according to Danny the robot doesn€™t have an impressive track record, and has been redesigned as Lethal Execution.

This powerful robot packs a powerful punch in the dangerous axe, and also it€™s not easy to get under with four wedges, one on each side of the box shape. However, they could be penetrated by barbs or spears like the ones Wedginator has, so watch out!

Like the last battle, this consists of three robots, one with a flipper, one with a vertical flywheel and one with an axe. Will see a repeat performance here where the spinner bites the dust, or will either the seeded flipper or powerful axe go out this time?
Well, clearly Wedginator wants it to be Axeon 3.0, as Kody heads straight for Andy and gets under the side with ease, flipping Axeon onto its back! He quickly self-rights and reverses into Lethal Injection though, pushing Danny backwards onto the killsaws! BZZT! It€™s thrown away, but comes back on the attack with its own disc, beginning to gnaw away at Axeon, but Andy attacks it, giving it a dead blow in the tyre, puncturing it with the axe! But Wedginator still wants Axeon out and comes in from behind, once more flipping Andy€™s axe robot, but once more Axeon is quick to self-right and this time shoots off up the arena and presses the pit release button! Wedginator follows, getting underneath Axeon yet again and flipping it over, Andy self-rights, but is pushed up against the wall and flipped into it, but he escapes again before coming back on the attack and quickly getting around the side and hitting his axe under the flipper of Wedginator before the flipper can close! Disaster has struck for Kody, who now tries to pit Axeon, but Andy withdraws his axe and reverses away to push Lethal Injection onto the killsaws again! BZZT! However, Wedginator€™s flipper seems to be damaged, and so Kody just pushes Axeon into the arena wall on his next attack, but with the flipper jammed open Axeon escapes and attacks Lethal Injection jet again, this time trapping the wounded robot, getting his axe over the axle and dragging Lethal Injection towards the pit of oblivion, into which it falls!
CEASE!
Wedginator, the seed luckily scrapes through the round after its weapon was damaged, Lethal Injection is pitted and Axeon flies through on a high!

Me: Another bot out on round 1... But that was a tough draw, I€™m sure your luck will pick up sooner or later.
Danny: I sure hope so, I haven€™t had a robot through the eliminator yet.
Me: But plenty to come in the second half of the heats, right?
Danny: Yes, 5 more, though not all of them stand a very good chance.
Me: Be more optimistic!

This is the original Axe to Fall, so it shouldnt be too hard to get under. Flip it, race back under so it cant right itself, and toss over the fence! Failing that, a good pitting sounds nice. :proud:

Hello and welcome to Robot SMASH!! , round 2 of Heat H is starting as we speak!
Wedginator Devilution (15) v Axe to Fall
Hannibal v Axeon 3.0
Who of these four will progress to the heat final to meet each other? Nobody knows, but the race for a place in the series semi-finals is more on than it ever was!
Heat Semi-Final 1
Ladies and Gentlemen, please give a warm welcome to the number #15 seed Wedginator Devilution and Axe to Fall.

As round 2 of this exciting heat gets underway, we see the only two experienced machines in the heat do battle. The other robots may have battled before, but this all their first time in Robot SMASH!! , except of course for the number #15 seed Wedginator Devilution and Axe to Fall, which bowed in the first round last season. However, it is Kody on the attack straight away as ACTIVATE! Is called, driving on the attack and coming into Axe to Fall€™s zone, getting slammed by the axe and taking a dent in the armour, but nothing more as Kody gets those barbs under the side of Axe to Fall and sends Martijn tumbling over onto his back! And before Axe to Fall can right itself Wedginator is underneath and pushing the axe robot towards the pit release button, but Martijn uses the axe to knock himself off Wedginator and onto his wheels, now attacking Wedginator Devilution side on, getting underneath and clamping Kody in place with the axe! But the seed fires its flipper to knock the axe away and Wedginator escapes, driving around Axe to Fall in a circle before slipping the barbs under the side again before driving in underneath and once again utilising that powerful weaponry to flip Axe to Fall onto its back, again pushing Martijn while he€™s upside down, and despite the semi-barrel shape machine self-righting off the seed again and leaving another nice dent in the front of Wedginator Kody this time succeeds in slamming Axe to Fall into the pit release siren! The sound fills the arena as the pit descends and Wedginator tries to shove Axe to Fall into oblivion, but Martijn escapes this time around and slams Kody with his axe once again, and this time he€™s made a very small perforation into Wedginator€™s thin hardox armouring! It won€™t have damaged any internals, but now Kody uses his superior power to swing Martijn in the direction of the pit, bringing the celebrating Dutchman back down to earth with a bump as he wrenches his axe out of Wedginator only to be attacked side on and flipped up and over, a position which he quickly rights himself from before bringing the axe down into Wedginator€™s workings, exposed by the gaping flipper! The crowd gasp and Kody looks horrified as all of a sudden gas vents out of the damaged area and Wedginator Devilution is suddenly left weapon-less, as Axe to Fall has hit Kody right in the flipper ram! That€™s not very nice, but now Axe to Fall has another slight shave, just pulling out the axe before Kody can use those LEM-200s to pit Axe to Fall! But still Kody ploughs on; meeting the front of Axe to Fall and despite receiving another whack from the axe pushes Martijn back onto the killsaws! BZZT! The Dutchman is flipped, only to self-right once more with that useful axe and to push Wedginator Devilution side on, in Martijn€™s dreams that is as this time the skirts defend Kody and Axe to Fall is unable to push him any further, however he gives Kody another headache as he slams Wedginator with the axe again!

As the match ends both robots are still mobile, so we go to the judge€™s decision!

Me: Two seasons, two round 2 losses for Wedginator.
Kody: ...Yes, although Wedginator 6.0 did go out to Wedge Devolution, the eventual champion last year, and I doubt this will be as worthy a loss.
Me: I think the flipper damaged did it, only one ram so when that was damaged that was it.
Kody: Yes, it€™s just one of the disadvantages of having a front hinged flipper, axes and crushers can get to it.
Me: But if the flipper was rear hinged...
Kody: The rams will be exposed to spinners.
Me: Maybe you should just keep your flipper closed!
Kody: Wouldn€™t be much good then though.
Me: How clever of you. Well, sad to see Wedginator go out so early again.
Kody: Yeah, me too, I€™m yet to win a heat.
Me: Hey, plenty of chances left.
Kody: Thanks.
Me: Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, now let€™s get back to the coliseum for the other heat semi-final!

Ladies and Gentlemen, please give a thunderous round of applause for the return of Hannibal and Axeon 3.0!

It is interesting that in both of our round 1 eliminators in this heat there was a spinner, axe and flipper. In both fights the spinner lost, and now one axe has beaten out a flipper to reach the heat final, will this be a repeat performance or will Hannibal get one back for the flippers?
Not if Andy has it his way, as Axeon immediately dodges the front of Hannibal and pushes Leo from the side, giving him a nice hole in the top armour with that powerful axe! Leo escapes and turns, slipping the flipper underneath the side of Axeon and sending Axeon tumbling onto its back, but Andy quickly self-rights and hits Hannibal again, this time on the rear panel and he holds on so that he can drag Leo onto the killsaws! BZZT! Hannibal feels hot under the collar now and flips Axeon, but the axe remains buried into the top armour and so Andy isn€™t tossed away as Leo would have liked, but now he pulls out his axe anyway to strike Hannibal again, this time on the flipper arm itself! Leo fires the flipper to try and knock Axeon away, but to no avail and Andy takes his axe out to drive in underneath the flipper of Hannibal, which closes on him in a clamping movement! But Andy uses the axe as a front hinged flipper while underneath Hannibal to turn Leo onto his back and then when Leo self-rights Andy hits him on the top armour yet again, scoring yet another perforation into the top armour! However, these hits don€™t seem to be damaging the internals so Hannibal is OK for now, and proves so by pushing under the front of Axeon and flipping Andy across the arena and up against the pit release button! Andy quickly self-rights and rams Hannibal, once again sticking that axe into the flipper arm, but as Leo fires the flipper Andy drives forward, thus knocking Hannibal onto its back and hitting the base armour with the axe, holding down to stop Hannibal righting itself, and instead Leo finds himself being swung around in the direction of the pit he just opened by flinging his opponent into the release! And all of a sudden there is a puff of smoke as Hannibal meets the bottom of the pit for Axeon 3.0 to head through to the heat final!

Leo: Not too much. Hannibal is an old machine, and I am pleased that it got past a powerful spinner like Mega Masher 2, especially when you consider how thin the armour is.
Me: Andy has put lots of nice holes in there, hasn€™t he?
Leo: He has indeed, and they€™ll need repairing.
Me: Oh well, Mantis is already through, right?
Leo: Yes.
Me: And you€™ve got plenty of semi-final chances to go?
Leo: Definitely.

Welcome back to Robot SMASH!! , where the Heat H final is about to get underway! But first let€™s look back and see how our two heat finalists got this far:
Axe to Fall teamed up with Hannibal to pit the powerful spinner Mega Masher 2.
Axeon 3.0 was attacked by Wedginator Devilution (15), but fought back strongly and pitted Lethal Injection.
Axe to Fall shocked us all (rhyme intended) by disabling the flipper of Wedginator Devilution (15) before winning by 72-66 decision.
Axeon 3.0 got to grips with Hannibal, striking the elderly robot many times and making plenty of holes in the top armour.
Now they go head to head in a fight to the death, all for a place in the series semi-finals!

Me: How€™s the axe Martijn?
Martijn: Ready to rumble. The plan is to grip Axeon and drag it into the pit, but I don€™t have high hopes for this one.
Me: Why€™s that?
Martijn: Most of the robot is polycarbonate, and he€™s got one hell of an axe.
Me: But so have you!
Martijn: Thank you, but I can€™t see it going through his armour.
Me: Even if Axe to Fall does crash out here, it€™ll be seeded next time around for reaching a heat final anyway, so it was worth the effort of beating the 15th seed Wedginator Devilution anyway, was it or wasn€™t it?
Martijn: Yes, you€™re right.
Me: Good luck.

Me: Hey there Andy, how do you feel about this bout?
Andy: Quietly confident. Axe to Fall is a very good machine and has done well to get this far, but I plan to stop it here.
Me: Do you think Martijn can succeed in pitting you?
Andy: It will be difficult for him, but it€™s not impossible.
Me: Do you think you can beat him?
Andy: I hope so.

Now we€™re in egg heads corner, with some random guys, one called Professor and the other called Sir. They€™re real names now, because I said so!
Prof.: I can€™t see Axeon going through here, Axe to Fall was very impressive in taking out the seed and that axe is powerful.
Sir: I disagree. Axe to Fall may have done well, but the success ends here. Axeon also got the better of Wedginator, in round 1 and it has the better armour.
Prof.: I bet £1110000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 0000000000000.89 that Axe to Fall will win.
Sir: I bet $2222222222222222222222222222200000000000000000000 000000.98 that Axe to Fall will lose and Axeon will win.
Prof.: But I€™m British, I don€™t have any use for dollars.

In this, the first all-axes heat final of the series both robots look potent and deadly, with their menacing axe heads almost glowing at the prospect of slamming the other robot at full force to deliver a hit with maximum damage!
And it€™s Axeon immediately on the attack, dodging the front scoop of Axe to Fall and trying to turn and attack from the side, but Martijn turns to meet the attack and so both robots bring their axes down on each other, Axeon€™s going through the 15mm polycarbonate armour of Axe to Fall while Martijn€™s own axe merely dents Andy€™s top armouring. There doesn€™t seem to be any real damage done to the insides of Axe to Fall, but still Andy holds in there and pulls Martijn towards the pit release button! Axe to Fall struggles for a moment, but then Martijn realises the opportunity and slams into Axeon, breaking Andy€™s hold with his axe and getting in underneath the corner of the wedge with that scoop, now slamming Axeon into the pit release button and in doing so flipping Axeon up against the wall with the force of the slam! But Andy self-rights and comes on another side attack, this time succeeding in striking Martijn from side on and once again burying his axe into the semi-barrel shape machine! Things aren€™t looking good for Axe to Fall, and as Axeon holds on in there the two of them struggle to pit the other, but neither drive gets an advantage and the deadly embrace careers onto the killsaws! BZZT! They fly across the arena, and still locked together they bounce along the arena floor and fall into the pit at precisely the same moment!

The judges watch the footage in slow motion, but there€™s no distinction between who goes into the pit first, so we now have to go for a judge€™s decision!

And so we are now halfway through the heats, let€™s take a look back at the tournament so far:
In Heat A Wedge Devolution (1) showed Splinter who€™s boss in the heat semi-final, then saw who it was up against in the heat final- Crash and Burn Tournament 2 champion Sheer Heart Attack 2, who was flipped around and out of the competition.
In Heat B Knyfe looked promising, knocking out the powerful GBOD in round 2, but poor weapon choice in the heat final saw it crash out to Supreme Glory Omega (3).
In Heat C Storm II (5) went into round 2 feeling confident, but in a massive shock a complete novice called Turbo Shredder did plenty of damage and went through to the heat final, where it was pushed around by Cyclone Force 3.
In Heat D Whirligig 4.5 (7) was the one to watch, but in round 2 it was pitted by Orka MK.4, who then dealt with Macduff the 3rd in the heat final.
In Heat E SOR X was the favourite, but it was Back to Rock III who dispatched WORCK-ER (9) in round 2 and then overcame SOR X in the heat final.
In Heat F All Scoop (11) was the fourth seed in a row to drop out of the second round when it was pitted by Mantis, who then defeated Tengu VII in the heat final.
In Heat G Super Gore Evo (13) broke the mould of the last 4 heats by defeating Wedga€™s Revenge to make the heat final, but it couldn€™t emulate Wedge Devolution and Supreme Glory Omega when it€™s tracks were shredded by Metal Sonic Spin Dash in the heat final.
And today in Heat H Wedginator Devilution (15) bowed out to Axe to Fall in the second round, but Axe to Fall fell afoul of the better armoured Axeon 3.0 in the heat final.

Right, just to say it is MEGA Monsoon, in the next heat, not Manic Monsoon. The robot entered into the last series was Mega Monsoon, and it has a spike, not a lifter like Manic Monsoon

Tonight will see the return of the number #16 seed Shadow Zone Returns, as the 3rd in a row Kody Kunz seeded robot makes its presence known in the coliseum. The question is, can it become the 3rd seed to make it through to the series semi-finals, or will it crash out early like the 6 robots before it?

This powerful pushing bot really packs a punch with 18HP in the drive and a nice front scoop to get in underneath its opponents, not forgetting the full pressure Toro-style flipper at the rear! But it was clamped easily last time around, and it€™s got no protection from the sides other than its skirts and self-righting mechanisms, and they won€™t ward off attackers.
In RS!!1: Powered through round 1 in style, ramming and flipping Fire and Ice all around the arena to win what was an easy match for the Shadow Zone. But despite a good start in round 2 flipping All Scoop around Steven came back and lifted, axed and pitted Shadow Zone Returns in what was an amazing turn around.

A very interesting design that has the two horizontal discs above one another instead of next to each other; this vanquishes any gyroscopic effects from the weaponry and also the drive is intuitive, with 2 wheels on top and 2 on the bottom that run in reverse directions like Crushtacean to give it an easy route down control. However, the batteries will run out after 4 minutes, so in 5 minute battles it had better watch out, though today it should be OK with the 3 minute fights.

A pretty simple design, a box with a wedge and a drum on the front; this drum is powered by a LEM-130 at 24v, not the optimum voltage, so there could well be power wasted here, and the 2 S28-400S at 24v, however decent a drive that is won€™t help it push Shadow Zone Returns around at all, as he has double that power.

These three robots all look pretty dangerous to me, and Symmetry and Paralyzation both start spinning up from the word SMASH!! , but Paralyzation isn€™t given time to get up to full speed as Kody shoots out of nowhere and slams Paralyzation into the arena side wall with a large CRASH! Kody pins him there for a moment, then reverses for another slam, but Paralyzation is quickly away and gets that drum to speed, but now Shadow Zone goes in on another onslaught, once again getting underneath the side and this time pushing Samuel onto the killsaws! BZZT! Symmetry looks on with both discs spinning at full speed and optimum potential, just waiting for the moment to strike, and it seems that moment is coming as the seed gets under Paralyzation side on for a third time and now goes on a full out ram across the coliseum and delivers him into Symmetry€™s discs!
CRASH!
Paralyzation is knocked flying by that hit, but momentarily seems to be OK, spinning up once again and this time when Kody comes in on the attack Samuel manages to turn that drum into the side of Shadow Zone and rips off a side skirt, also flipping the seed up and over! But Shadow Zone quickly self-rights and rams Paralyzation again, this time getting underneath the front end with the scoop and pushing him up against the pit release button! Paralyzation escapes and spins up again, but he€™s completely forgotten about Symmetry, and Leo now drives into Paralyzation at full speed with both those discs going round like hell!
CRASH!
It doesn€™t matter what armour you have, it€™s only as strong as the bolts that hold it on and suddenly Symmetry is left without a side panel! The internal workings are now exposed, and Shadow Zone runs in underneath again, pushing Paralyzation over to the pit, dumping him in front of it for Symmetry to reverse into Samuel€™s drum spinner and nudge it into the pit of oblivion, where it vanishes from view in a puff of smoke!

A very fast and furious match as Paralyzation is paralysed; Shadow Zone Returns (16) and Symmetry go through!

Samuel: Not very well, it€™s badly damaged from that deadly team-up.

This highly successful flipper/rammer is the champion of majors like NSBFL6 and Pussycat Tribute Tournament 5. If that isn€™t enough, it can choose between a hydraulic lifter and pneumatic flipper for weaponry and the pneumatic option has an electric srimech for self-righting without wasting gas while the hydraulic setup has a small hook for holding onto opponents! Recently it competed in the RS!! Mini-Tournament and came fourth overall.

Another highly successful vapour, this robot packs 60 horsepower into the drive and has a full pressure spike to shove the opposition around and pierce thinner armours. However, it€™s very fast and could be very hard to control properly.
In RS!!1: Looked promising and put up a good fight against Doorstops in round 1, vanquishing one cluster to the pit, but he was outnumbered and pitted.

A powerful tracked robot with great horizontal crushing claws to squeeze the life out of you with 6.25 tonnes of force between them. However, it has the lowest success record of the three robots in this melee being the newest, and lack of experience could see it flushed down the drain here.

Mega Monsoon is very fast off the mark, quickly gaining that 28mph top speed and skidding dangerously around the arena to attack Death Threat 0.2, who dodges the attack and runs into the front of Achilles, starting to get a hold, but before he can Alex flips him over and into the path of Mega Monsoon, who slams into the side of Death Threat at that extreme speed and gets underneath Danny, now going out on a full out slam into the pit release! Death Threat is propelled upwards by the force of the slam, but lands behind Monsoon and quickly grabs hold of Daniel Stickler€™s famous rambot, only to be rammed back across the arena and into the arena wall at the other end!
CRASH!
Death Threat 0.2 is really feeling the pain now, but still holds on and with his better traction almost manages to swing Monsoon onto the killsaws, but the drive in that machine is too strong and Daniel pulls Danny across the arena as he heads for the pit! But now Danny lets go and reverses away, only to find himself backing onto Achilles, who throws him head over heels onto the top of Mega Monsoon, who heads over to the pit and tries to throw Death Threat off the top of him and into the chasm! But Danny drives over the front of Monsoon and gets jabbed by the spike, getting pushed away from the pit and once again into Achilles, who arms in underneath him and pushes him towards the pit, in front of which Mega Monsoon is standing! The three collide and Daniel is almost pushed back into the pit, but he struggles back and out pushes Achilles, and the three machines speed back across the arena into the wall!
CRASH!
Death Threat is knocked free of this deadly embrace, but Monsoon is still underneath Achilles whom it has teamed up with for most of this fight, and Daniel now reverses out from under the PTT5 champion and turns to attack Death Threat again, this time getting the leverage he needs by going right in underneath and pushing Danny across the arena and into the pit in a puff of smoke!
CEASE!
Death Threat 0.2 dies; Achilles and Mega Monsoon whirl on through to round 2!

Me: I€™m really sad that Death Threat had a round 1 draw as tough as that, I think that if you had had a slightly better draw you could have gone far.
Danny: Maybe, Death Threat has done well recently, winning Heat A in FVAL.
Me: Maybe next season?
Danny: I hope so.
Me: I certainly do, you put up an excellent fight there anyway, not every robot would even last in there with Achilles and Mega Monsoon.

Probably, given the opposition, hell use the flipper. He may have noticed that hes low enough to possibly get under the sides, and if he uses the flipper, he can keep turning you over, and given hes got a long gas supply than you, you may run out of gas, then he turns to over and leave you, or flips you OOTA.

Very well, since hes going for pneumatics...
I think I have a leverage advantage against his flipper with my scoop, so ram against it. Once under, slam it around. Do this repeatedly, and go Tornado/Storm II all over his ass. If that doesnt work, aim for the sides/rear, and repeat ramming process.
If I get a clear opportunity to get in a flip, do so, then ram him down the pit. Ill use the side spikes to right myself more than the flipper, so no worries about that lol
Summary: Just be as aggressive as I can be.

We€™re back now with the second round of Robot SMASH!! Series 2: Recharged Heat I! In round 1 Paralyzation was paralysed and Death Threat 0.2 turned out to be an empty threat. Four brave competitors survive, but another two must be eliminated before the heat final.

This is the round that Shadow Zone Returns bowed out of last season; when it was vanquished by All Scoop and No Stab make Steve a Dull Boy, who has already lost out in the second round to Mantis this season. Lots of seeds have bowed out in the second round this season, but from the start of this round it is clear that Kody doesn€™t want Shadow Zone Returns to join the ranks of the defeated and powers forward to meet Achilles, as both robots meet head on! Neither gets under the other this time, but Achilles pushes Shadow Zone backwards across the arena floor and into the arena wall! But with this onslaught Achilles drives up onto the front scoop of Shadow Zone Returns and Kody powers across the arena and slams Alex into the opposite wall, and Achilles is knocked onto its side by the impact! It self-rights and quickly attacks Shadow Zone, this time managing to penetrate the side skirt and throw the seed onto its back, though like Achilles Kody€™s machine packs an electric srimech to conserve flipper gas, and Kody uses this now to get Shadow Zone back onto its wheels, and when he does so he finds the rear flipping arm pressing against the rear of Achilles, and not one to miss an opportunity like this he reverses underneath and throws the PTT5 champion onto its back! Once again Alex self-rights, but Kody gets under the rear of Achilles again, this time using the scoop and he rams Achilles for the full length of the coliseum and dumps the NSBFL6 winner onto the killsaws! BZZT! Achilles is thrown away in a shower of sparks, but finds itself side on to Shadow Zone and rams in underneath, and when Alex hits the flipper button this time Shadow Zone rolls over and back over again on a pretty bumpy ride, finally coming to rest on its side, but right up against the wall! Kody uses the electric srimech, but it just pushes the seed up against the wall! Quickly he uses his flipper to get out of this tight position, but Achilles has come in from behind and Shadow Zone lands on the flipper of Achilles, allowing Alex to throw Kody high into the air again! CRASH!
Shadow Zone lands on its wheels, but land hard and Achilles will gain points from that should this go to a judge€™s decision! But Kody plans to finish it before then and gets under the front of Achilles with that scoop again, this time ramming Alex across the arena and pushing him up against the pit release siren, which wails loudly as Achilles escapes and flips Shadow Zone onto its side yet again, only for Kody to self-right back onto Achilles€™ flipper! And this time Alex sees victory and rushes Shadow Zone to the arena edge and sends the number #16 seed tumbling over the barrier and out of the competition!

Yet another seed crashes out of the competition early on, and Achilles powers through the shadow zone to make the heat final!

Me: Disappointed?
Kody: A little. Shadow Zone isn€™t one of my best chances though, so not too worried although time is running out to get robots into the semi-finals.

Kody: Yes, but they have tough line-ups, it could go either way.
Me: Sad to see SZR go in round 2 again.
Kody: Me too, I thought it had a good chance against Achilles.
Me: It did well, just not well enough. Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, now let€™s head back to the coliseum for the second heat semi-final!

These two metal-munching machines have hardly anything in common, Symmetry with the innovative weapon and wheel setup and Mega Monsoon with the hulking motors, six wheel drive and powerful stabbing spike. Leo is quickly getting those two spinning discs up to speed as this match gets underway, and Mega Monsoon is quick off the mark as usual, sliding across the coliseum floor with minimum controllability as always! But this has put Monsoon side on to Symmetry, and Daniel doesn€™t miss this opportunity, slamming into the side of the destructive machine and ramming Leo across the arena and onto the killsaws! BZZT! Symmetry is thrown away, but finds itself behind Mega Monsoon and slams into Daniel with the discs, not causing great damage, but throwing Monsoon against the wall with a CLANG! Daniel is back on the attack swiftly and pushes Symmetry across the arena floor, and when 100kg of Mega Monsoon is running you across a dangerous arena of death at 28mph there€™s bound to be damage done, and there is now as Symmetry hits the arena wall and the momentum lifts it off the floor and causes the bot to sail through the air and over the barrier! It€™s so unbelievably lucky Leo and Daniel can€™t believe their eyes! Everything was perfect from the angle at which they were heading to the position of Symmetry on Mega Monsoon€™s front wedge, and now Leo finds himself on the camera tracks having been hit by a rammer and not even a flipper!

The audience go wild and Symmetry is thrown out of the contest, Mega Monsoon rains on to the heat final!

Me: That didn€™t exactly go to plan, did it?
Leo: I would rathered that Mega Monsoon was shredded than Symmetry was OOTAed, yes!
Me: You did do some damage though.
Leo: It was a good hit, but the damage seemed to be minimal.
Me: Will we see Symmetry back next season?
Leo: Maybe.

Well after consulting Daniel...
Lovely 1cm ground clearance at the sides and a high top speed should work in my favour here - although MM is faster and more powerful I should be far more controllable, and Ill use the hydraulics and aim to lift it into the air where its massive horsepower cant get to me. Im not too worried about the spike - pnuematic spikes tend to push things away rather than damaging them too much, and the titanium and hardox should stand up to it fine should I get hit. Id also guess that I should generally be able to get beneath him better due ot my shape.

And so we come to the Heat I final of Robot SMASH!! Series 2: Recharged, where Achilles and Mega Monsoon will be battling for a place in the series semi-finals. Let€™s look back and see how they got this far:
They were in the same round 1 melee and teamed up on Death Threat 0.2, condemning the dangerous horizontal grabber to then pit.
In the first heat semi-final Achilles sent the number #16 seed Shadow Zone Returns tumbling out of the arena and onto the camera tracks to become the 7th seed to crash out of the heats.
In the second heat semi-final Mega Monsoon went on a whirlwind ride with Symmetry, taking some damage but eventually pitting the double spinner.

Alex: And hopefully the first heats win.
Me: What setup is Achilles using for this match?
Alex: For the first time in this tournament I€™m switching to the hydraulics.
Me: Why€™s that?
Alex: Because Monsoon is a fast and powerful rammer, but with the wheels in the air it won€™t be going anywhere.

Me: So Daniel, is Monsoon ready?
Daniel: Ready as it€™s ever been. It lost to Doorstops in round 1 last season, but this time there€™s been an improvement so even if I go out here it€™ll be OK.
Me: Will your spike or your pushing power be the more useful weapon here?
Daniel: As always it is the pushing capability, because pneumatic spikes tend to push the opponent away unless the opponent is very poorly armoured, and Achilles (sadly) is tough enough to withstand this.
Me: Good luck.

Up in Eggheads corner Professor Von Frankenstein and Mr. Kody-in-a-forklift-truck are discussing the upcoming match.
Prof.: Mega Monsoon will certainly walk away with a victory here, as it is very powerful and should pit Achilles easily.
Mr.: I disagree. Monsoon is far too uncontrolled, and with Achilles using the hydraulics it will be lifted and pitted.
Prof.: But Achilles€™ E-Teks simply cannot compete with Monsoon€™s mags.
Mr.: I don€™t see Monsoon€™s spike doing any damage, so who€™s to say Achilles can win on a JD?
Prof.: Let€™s get the teams into the booths so we can settle this argument once and for all!
Me: Shut up Professor, that€™s MY job. Watch it or you€™ll go the same way as Male Kram.

Monsoon is immediately off the mark like a bullet out of a gun, while Achilles is slightly slower albeit more controlled. Daniel swings Monsoon around in a sideways arc to get to the side of Achilles and rams Alex towards the wall, but Achilles manages to turn away and bring the lifter under the side of Monsoon€™s ground clearance, lifting Daniel€™s famous machine into the air! It doesn€™t seem to have a very good hold, but all the same Mega Monsoon is up in the air and can€™t attack. The wheels spin, but in the sky wheels are useless and Alex makes his way across the arena to the pit release button, proudly parading Mega Monsoon in the air as if he just won it, but the impact with the release siren causes Achilles to drop Mega Monsoon onto the floor! Daniel races off across the arena and then turns to meet Achilles, who is approaching menacingly. Alex attacks, but hits the lifter button too early and Monsoon slips in underneath, crashing across the arena and slamming Alex€™s famous major-winner into the corner, throwing it over! However Daniel has forgotten that I have some lovely killsaws in the corner, and now Mega Monsoon has been caught by them and is thrown across the arena away from Achilles, who by now has self-righted and is coming back on the attack, once again getting underneath the side ground clearance and hoisting Daniel into the air before turning and heading towards the chasm which could very easily mean the end of Mega Monsoon if Alex succeeds in getting him there this time! And he does so, lowering the lifter to allow Monsoon to slide off into the pit of oblivion and out of the competition, although it is two rounds later than Daniel€™s rammer did last season.
