Disco 5 (3) (me) V Shovearound 2
Ok this will be a tough fight. I shall start with my disc facing shovearound so i wont have to turn to face it straight away. I am gonna aim to bash the disc into its lifting forks as although it might not do significant damage there is a chance i can damage them. But more importantly it will knock shovearound away from me meaning it cant get close enough to push me. Hopfuly enough bashes from the disc will damage something inside. If not just keep going untill shovearound dies lol.

Saying that #3 is a high ranking for Martyn is kind of insulting.

Disco 5 (3) vs Shovearound 2

Activate!
Disco 5 spins up its disc like spinners are keen to do, and Shovearound wastes no time ad heads towards Disco like a speeding bullet! Disco goes in reverse, keeping its disc towards Shovearound while avoiding any contact. Shovearound is just too fast and tackles Disco at its front-corner, just outside the reach of that lethal disc! Towards the wall Shovearound goes!
CLANG!
Shovearound slams Disco against the wall fiercely, but in the meantime comes in contact with that vertical disc!
CRASH!
Shovearound€™s front is hit and the entire body of Tony€™s rambot moves upwards and onto its back! Tony€™s marvellous machine works just as good when inverted though, and the damage done is close to non-existent. Disco quickly heads to the shaken Shovearound and attacks its rear€¦
RATTLE RATTLE RATTLE!!!
Disco€™s flywheel hits massive Hardox rear-skirt and knocks it upwards, forming a highly creative rattle in the process. Shovearound accelerates forward, its rear-skirt SLIGHTLY dented. The rambot makes a U-turn to face Martyn€™s mighty spinner again, which eagerly awaits that rambot with its flywheel spinning aggressively. Shovearound comes in, steers, and heads towards Disco€™s side. Martyn turns but Shovearound is quicker right there. Shovearound forks try to penetrate Disco€™s side, but Disco has some nice sprung skirts there! Shovearound fails but still pushes Disco sideways! Disco responds with a quick turn around and its disc hits Shovearounds forks!
CRASH!
Shovearound is swept backward slightly, but those forks receive a good hitting! Disco accelerates forwards€¦
CRASH!
Shovearound hardly recovered from one attack and there€™s the next one already! Disco wants to have another go but Shovearound is slightly quicker to recover this time. The FFW-champ quickly moves backwards and seemingly out of danger. Disco comes in, but so does Shovearound right now. As a matter of fact, Shovearound succeeds in hitting Disco€™s front corner€¦ and gets underneath the skirt right there! Tony accelerates his machine and activates the forks. Nothing happens!
CLANG!
Nothing happens until the arena-wall is reached, that is! Still, Shovearound€™s forks are out of action, a great bummer for Tony. Disco ends up at Shovearound€™s side after being slammed against the wall, and comes in from there!
CRASH!
Shovearound€™s side-skirt receives a hit, paint€™s scratched off, and Shovearound is inverted!

Ehh, not got any wonderful tactical ideas, so Ill just ask Martyn if he wants to team up.
Flank Attack: DT (5) vs SOR 5.5 vs Snakebite IV
Interesting draw for this fantastic heat! The robot Im actually not looking forward to facing in this match is Snakebite. That low clearance and decent armour is not something Im going to try and crack. Fortunately for me the seeded robot in this match is just the sort of thing SOR can have some fun with. So Ill be targeting the seeded robot in this round and try to boot it out right away. First things first, those wheels! Ill be aiming to take the rubber off those wheels with my spinner as much as possible, and without any traction Flank Attack is almost rendered useless. Next, have some fun with the flipper. You dont get 50mm ground clearance to play with very often, so Im gonna make the most of it and flip this thing around all over the place. Then in terms of defence, it can grab me all it likes! :proud: It actually has no motors so Ill just presume Bosch 750s just in case. In which case, if it wants to grab me thats fine because I can shove it around all day long. Tactics? I suggest me and Snakebite target those exposed wheels with our spinners and once the tractions gone, flip it around and if I get bored get it OOTA.
For the other melee in the Heat of Death I can see maybe Star 69 going out first. This heat should be good fun to see. :proud:
lol sure, spin up and go for MSSDs sides and try and damage it.
HEAT C
ROUND 1
METAL SONIC SPIN DASH VS Star 69 VS Tempest Evil-er-oution
Boooooo. :lame:
Getting in a shoving match with Star 69 probably wont achieve much, so Im going to go nuts and go for Tempest. With the greater top speed, I should be able to keep up with the slippery spinner as it dances around trying to kill me. The plan is to ram Tempest rear-first to stop the blades (and stop my saw flying off). As it starts spinning up again, Ill twirl around and drive underneath. From there, smash it into walls, Martyns machine or the pit.
Oh and avoid Star 69 if I can avoid it. Which I probably cant. In which case, try the same thing on it.

Flank Attack: DT (5) vs SOR 5.5 vs Snakebite IV
Hmm, this looks to be a difficult bout. Well, if SOR wants some of me, he can have it :P
From what I remember of SOR, I feel that the best option would be to keep my arms facing it at all times. I dont want to give him any shots at my wheels. His back should give some nice area to grip, and could pincer down; maybe even crushing some armor into his wheels (maybe, I need to see some stats first so I can update these tactics a little)
If he comes at me with the disc, use my differential turning to face him and keep my back to the wall. If he comes at me with the wedge, then go at him full speed. My plan here is that (with my back against the wall) I will go up and over SORs body and land behind him while he comes crashing into the wall. (My acceleration and velocity would be fast enough to go over him before his flipper fires, I believe. If not, it would only flip me away from the wall do to my direction). I will then turn around immediatly and put my pincers to work, crumpling his backside. Hopefully.
And, if Snakebite would like to team up with me to take down this piece of work, all the better :D
I would like some stats for SOR, however, since I cant really find them in this thread :P

Ill team up with Andy for this one, if thats OK with him - Ill stick to the spinning bar, aiming for the wheels, and let Andy have his fun with the flipper!

Ah, thank you very much.
Hmm, I do believe my crushers should get through to his back wheels, or at the very least do some damage. Im no expert on this so its pretty much writers discretion :P
I would also like to mention that his backside should fit very nicely in my plow, despite his spinner, should he choose to come at me from that angle. My plow has taken worse damage from other spinners, so Im sure it would stand up to his.
Im a bit dismayed that I have forgotten what kind of motors to put on Flank Attack, but then its one of my older robots when I had a little less detail :P If Martijn would be so kind, I would like to make my own choice for motors. If not, however, the ones Andy chose would be fine, even if he did probably choose them specifically to have less torque than his ones :P
If Richard is against me as well it is imperative that I stay at the walls and keep myself well defended. Open the put as soon as possible then try for my aforementioned tactic against Andy. See if I can do any quick shoves for a quick pit, and just be generally more careful than usual. Keep my claws always at the front, and try not to give any chances.
Awesome battle Martijn. I remember now that it was the Norman Sheppard Tribute Tournament where Achilles and GeForce battled last...I think. Anyway w00t for another heat done. :proud:

Alex there are a couple of floors in your plan! First of all, try to attack SORs back end at your peril, and eat a spinning bar. Secondly, there is no way a pneumatic crusher is going to bend 4mm Hardox, whether its 3 tonnes of force or not. Thirdly, stay at the walls all you like, its just asking for an OOTA! :proud:
oh no a spinner bar, not like my plow hasnt taken worse.
oh no a spinner bar, not like my plow hasnt taken worse.
Why exactly would I purposely drive inside your claws and attack your scoop? :lame:
The plot thickens...
LMAO :proud:
This thread keeps getting better and better. :proud:
Its not like youre going to have a good chance getting at my wheels. I mean, my back will be against the walls and my huge claws are in the way of them.
And if you come at me with the wedge? Well thats when I enact my prestated plan.
quote:
My plow has taken worse damage from other spinners, so Im sure it would stand up to his.
And that makes your plow impervious in WHAT way? If other spinners can damage the plow, as you say, then SoR will most certainly do so. :lame:
Maybe the wording threw you off a little. My plow and the claws are made specifically to be resistant to spinners. Though not impervious in any way, they will take a lot of hits before buckling. Even then, with no electronics in the plow or the claws, it does not matter a whole lot.
AJ, Just drive the vert spinning bar into one of the claws, good chance youll catch the claw and flip him against the wall.

Round 1
Fight 1
Flank Attack: DT (5) vs SOR 5.5 vs Snakebite IV
Flank Attack: DT (5): Alex M€™s excellent horizontal crusher. The mighty claws stopped Tengu in its tracks during the last series, so be warned!
In MN1: Has beaten Mega Masher 2, Love Bite V2.0 and Tengu VII, to lose against Psyclonised in the semies. Flank Attack then beat Die-Ceratops, Achilles and Clawdius to claim 5th place!
SOR 5.5: Andy€™s most famous machine most likely. SOR has been around for many years and has had many successes, but how will this flipper&disc-combo do against the vapours of today?
In MN1: Has beaten Storm 2 with some help from Love Bite V2.0, but lost in round 2 against Tengu VII.
Snakebite IV: Veteran Richard made this shuffling-box. It has the advantage of weight, as well as a S.M.I.D.S.Y.-style lifter and a MOE-style blade, and is a fine robot really!
In MN1: Did not compete.

ACTIVATE!
Flank Attack is quick off the mark and looking for something to fight, fuelled by the knowledge that so far all seeds in the tournament managed to win their heats. SOR seems to be the first candidate as the wedgebot drives towards Flank Attack, bar-first. SOR is clearly going for Flank Attack wheels, but Alex uses his tank-style steering to protect his wheels and bring his claws into play!
CLANG!
SOR€™s blade hits the seed€™s front-scoop. The 1 cm of titanium gives in a bit before Flank Attack€™s claws close in on SOR! The bar is stalled and SOR€™s Hardox is well under pressure but doesn€™t quite give in. Flank Attack accelerates with SOR in its claws. ENTER SNAKEBITE! Richard€™s brick comes in, on Flank Attack, from the side! Flank Attack can€™t defend himself!
CRASH!
The Flank Attack&SOR-combination is swept aside a few inches and Flank Attack does not maintain its grip on SOR. The freed SOR has its paint seriously scratched after Flank Attack€™s grip, but Flank Attack is left with more worries on its mind. The plow is dented and one of the wheels has a nasty slice across its diameter after Snakebite€™s attack. SOR goes after Flank Attack€™s other wheel while Snakebite still resides damn near Flank Attack€™s already damaged wheel. Alex€™ fast machine goes backwards and retreats towards the walls. SOR is quick to turn and now heads for Flank Attack wedge-first. Flank Attack€™s weapon is not the best flipper-defense in a long shot, and the crusher now tries a rather unorthodox tactic to save itself from SOR€™s wrath. Surprised, Andy sees how Flank Attack drives straight towards his wedge, and over it. The experienced vapourboteer quickly fires his flipper, and Flank Attack moves STRAIGHT up into the air to land only slightly behind SOR. Flank Attack moves to attack SOR, when Snakebite comes in again!
CRASH!
ANOTHER ATTACK AT FLANK ATTACK€™S WHEEL! The seed is outclassed in this unholy clash! SOR moves around Flank Attack while Alex takes a good look at his left wheel from his booth and sees the rubber around it is seriously mangled. SOR€™s underneath Flank Attack€™s side now and gives a good flip! Flank Attack moves up and over and Snakebite gives chase, wedges Flank Attack and lifts it off the ground. SOR comes marching in again, sees a gaping hole between Flank Attack and the ground (courtesy of Snakebite€™s wedge) and gets underneath the seed. Andy moves his machine a bit closer to the wall, and LAUNCHES Flank Attack! The first seed to leave the tournament, goes out in round 1 already!

Tempest Evileroution vs Metal Sonic Spin Dash vs Star 69
Tempest Evileroution: The full-body spinner in Frank€™s squad, and a special one. This invertible ring-spinner is made to bounce off opponents after a hit, basically taking hit and run to the extreme!
In MN1: Did not compete.
Metal Sonic Spin Dash: Steven€™s pet :proud:. The most successful sawbot ever is back with a vengeance and an awesome drivetrain, but some say the hedgehog lost its glory.
In MN1: As S.D. IV, has beaten Natural Selection, with Judo Chop!, to be beaten by Yet Another Cut Above The Rest in round 2.
Star 69:Another full-body spinner, courtesy of Martyn. As the name suggests, this machine is shaped after a star, the points designed to take out opponents high and low. The drivetrain is excellent too!
In MN1: Did not compete.

Star and Tempest start moving, but not with great speed mind you. Martyn and Frank both want to give their weapons time to spin up first, and by doing so, they give MSSD a the opportunity to move out of its square to do what it does best! The hedgehog has aimed its rear towards Tempest and now looks for a quick ram. Tempest reverses, but can€™t deny the LEM-powered monstrosity that€™s coming towards him€¦
CRASH!
CLANG!
Tempest€™s weapon hits Spin Dash, but the ram had effect nonetheless! Tempest swings backwards and against the arena wall in a spectacular way! MSSD has its rear dented but still turns its face towards Tempest, Star 69 in turn closing in on MSSD! MSSD rams Tempest and gets underneath! Sparks fly from under Tempest€™s belly, when Star 69 hits MSSD from behind!
CRASH!
MSSD is slammed away from Tempest€™s underbelly, and has its rear-skirt ripped clean off! Steve isn€™t all to pleased, though neither is Frank, who is unable to see the damage done to his aluminium belly by that dangerous sawblade. Tempest is up to speed again and drives towards MSSD, who in turn shows Tempest its rear, skirt or not. While driving, Frank shockingly discovers a loose piece of rubber around Tempest€™s left wheel!
CRASH!
MSSD€™s rear meets Tempest€™s tooth, and the rear of the hedgehog starts looking damn ugly! Tempest on the other hand drifts backwards on impact, as the design is supposed to do€¦ STRAIGHT INTO STAR 69!
CRASH!
The two mighty full-body spinners strike out at each other with a mind-blowing blow! Steven is quick to respond and again goes for Tempest, who€™s ring doesn€™t spin up as fast as it used to do.
CLANG!
Tempest€™s maneuverability has dropped after MSSD€™s attack on its tire, and the fbs couldn€™t do quite defend itself from this attack by Sonic. Tempest is caught on top of the barbs, and MSSD reverses€¦ towards the pit! Tempest spinning up loosens MSSD€™s grip on it€¦ but doesn€™t quite free it yet. Standing on the edge of the pit, MSSD activates its srimech€¦ AND TEMPEST SLIDES DOWN THE PIT!

This could be interesting. For this fight, Ill be aiming for the side-skirts, preferably near the rear where itll be a bit easier to slip underneath. «SOR 5.5 vs. Star 69»
Argh! SORs favourite opponent! I want to get this one over as soon as possible. First up, spin up my own bar and drive it straight into Star 69 to stop it spinning. Then quickly spin round, slide my wedge under it, outpush it and try and throw it OOTA. If I fail, repeat until it does work. In all fairness a C40-500 powered ring spinner shouldnt do a huge ammount to my armour so its just a case of trying to get rid of it whenever I can. Come on Steve, we can make this a SOR vs. Spin Dash final! :proud:

Two machines, both powered by LEM130€™s at 36 V, move away from their starting squares. SOR shows off slightly more acceleration, but Star€™s 19 mph top speed gives it an edge when Martyn€™s machine gets going. Oddly, he doesn€™t goes straight to SOR but rather steers away to get his ring going. SOR in the meantime has its rear facing Star and decided to ram Martyn€™s star with its blade. 69 tries to dodge and does a good job, but SOR still drives straight against one of Star€™s sticking out points!
CLANG!
Star€™s weapon is not up to speed at this moment, unlike SOR€™s small blade, which is hitting air because of Star€™s odd shape. Star€™s weapon is stalled completely, and SOR swiftly reverses, makes a tight U-turn, and wedges Star 69! Martyn discovers Star still has a small amount of grip on the floor and tries to reverse, but Andy is quicker on the buttons and fires his flipper!
FA-LIP!
Star is thrown into the air and onto its back, hardly a problem for an invertible machine :proud:. SOR moves in and Star moves away. The fbs€™ top speed moves it out of the range of the flipper, and Martyn now found himself some time to spin up its weapon, and comes in at SOR! Andy turns SOR€™s back to Star again as he really doesn€™t want his flipper to feel the spinner€™s wrath. Not scared for a confrontation, SOR comes in as determined as Star does, and the duo meets with a bang!
BANG!
Told you it was a bang :proud:. Star bounces off the Hardox armour and dances around uncontrollably for a second, whereas SOR makes a spin around its centre. When Andy turns SOR around, he sees the damage done to SOR€™s rear. The Hardox€™ plate is mostly intact, but that bar is looking pretty damn loose! Andy€™s highest priority does not include that bar at all though, and he wedges Star who is only just regaining control. Andy€™s plan isn€™t performed perfectly as Star€™s weapon slowed down only 50% or so rather than 100, and Andy fires his flipper quickly before receiving more blows! Star flies through the air yet again and initially lands on its side. Andy moves as Star starts to topple back on its wheels, and wedges the spinner again! The duo moves in forward-motion, one of Star€™s teeth dragging along the ground stopping it from spinning up. The wall€™s in sight!

And off they go! Looking at their basic shape these machines have a lot in common. Both are low, skirted boxes with a front wedge, and both rely on getting underneath their opposition€¦ or do they? Richard doesn€™t fancy MSSD€™s skirts and bring Snakebite€™s rear into play, where an 8 kg blade is spinning up viciously. Steve€™s driving to Snakebite reveals he wants to attack that rear, but not quite where that blade is! The two vapourboteers don€™t want to open up a gap for their opponent to attack, resulting in an odd status quo where the two machines drive (or shuffle, in Snakebite€™s case :proud:) around each other. Steve guesses his six wheels will make MSSD turn slightly better than Snakebite€™s camshafts and the hedgehog has a go at the snake€™s right corner! The box slides underneath, and sparks fly when its top receives a nudge from the blade! That nudge knocks MSSD aside slightly, and MSSD€™s saw is positioned under the skirt rather than the main body! Sparks fly from under the skirt when MSSD drives Snakebite forwards and slams Snakebite against the wall!
CLANG!
MSSD reverses and reveals how messed up the joint of Snakebite€™s side skirt looks now. Snakebite now drives towards Spin Dash using its superior speed and does time DOES get a hit in on the side with the blade!
CRASH!
Snakebite isn€™t known as an uber-spinner but that knock still sounded pretty impressive! Sonic€™s side-skirt was knocked upwards and the main body was knocked around, Snakebite standing firmly on the ground due to its superior weight. MSSD drives away from its nemesis to make a U-turn, and to attack Snakebite€™s flank! Snakebite isn€™t quick enough on it shafts to dodge this assault! Spin Dash doesn€™t quite penetrate Snakebite€™s skirt but does manage to shove it to the wall, and THERE penetrates the skirt :proud:. With a display of sparks and€¦ sparks, the saw eats its way past the skirt underneath the body, where Snakebite€™s underbelly is at the saw€™s mercy! The shafts are trying to get a grip on SD€™s wedge to shuffle away, but aren€™t quite able to do so. For all Richard knows, Spin Dash might be sawing his shaft in halve right now! After several highly tense seconds, Snakebite manages to get a grip on MSSD€™s saw of all places and shuffles away to safety. Doing so, however, Richard shockingly discovers several small slices across his left camshaft! Snakebite still moves, but can€™t quite respond when MSSD comes in on its right side! With the traction on the left shaft decreased as it is, MSSD does a good job pushing Snakebite. The hedgehog turns left a little, where the pit is waiting! The grip left in Snakebite moves it forward a bit, but is it enough€¦?
