Official FRA Update
Subsequent to our previous update we have just been informed that the entire event has been CANCELLED.
The dutch have been unable to come up with an alternative plan and thus there will be NO robot event in Holland this weekend.
The camping should be available should any teams wish to join John who is now on holiday in Holland, however please note youll be a normal paying customer at the campsite.
The Fighting Robot Association

Also we and a few other teams are going to the same campsite making a holiday from it (maybe go to six flags ect). More the better.
ill see if I can find the courage to look the UK roboteers in the face and join the fun on the campsite.
I am not putting any blame on any one it happens all the time
Just get the beers in :)
Hello all,
It is over. There is neither money nor permits to organise anything
anymore.
We (Marien & family, Roaming Robots) are now going to camp site Het
Amsterdamse Bos for a holiday. You are all welcome to stay there (own
costs, unfortunately) but there will be no event.
Regards,
Marien van der Meer
Chairman Dutch Robot Games Foundation
do i have to pack a jumper or is it hot ?
Its pretty cold at the moment (+/- 20 degrees C). The weekend should be a bit better, but not much...
We shall be there late Thursday so save us a pitch.

You dont need any courage, Mario. You and the others tried, but circumstances were against you. You all deserve our thanks for having the courage to try.
I still owe you money though.
Julian, dont worry. I remember. And actualy, the next time we meet I want that in strong cider. Lots of it. To drink courage in.
John, Ill pack myself a load of Belgian beer. I hope youll help me to get it finished.
And a teaspoon, Mario.
To all the people who are mystified by Julians last posting: its a looooooooooooooooooooong story really.
Well tell it at a spooky barbequefire.
I want to know the loooooooooooooooooong story. But i dont come to the barbeque.
Please post the story.
The forum seems very quiet. Its like Christmas has been cancelled on Christmas Eve.
It has been!! (so to speak)
Dont I know it. Middleweights dont get many trips out.
Amsterdam to England.... come in England :o)
We made it to hotel last night, not before John Reid forgot his passport. Lucikly we were able to blag our way through UK Passport control onto the ferry, and then again through dutch immigration (so much for the tightened UK security in the wake of yesterdays incidents in London !).
Were now waiting for the rest of the hotel contingent to wake up and get out of bed before heading off to do some sightseeing !
Geoff... will get your Vantec from reception today before holding it to ransom !
Will keep you up to date with any other amusing development (John getting arrested for having no identification documents for example) !

Just slip a copy of the Quran and a lump of Playdoh into Johns luggage for the way back.
A set of batteries and some electrical wire. What more do you need to get arrested? Mind you I dont know how John is going to get back into the UK without his passport. I have enough trouble WITH mine
Back safely good to get to know people`snames rather than known by there robots name
John
Well... Angela learned to read a Dutch magazine, an obscure bit of Stus past has been exposed (he once had Dutch courses at school), it turned out our old dog Critter no longer tolerates chill (one of the reasons why we left earlier than planned) but has nothing lost of her old charm, Jeroen uses an electrical pump in order to get his barbeque going and you know what, it works ! WJs tent is entirely movable, our new antweight Malenkaia Baba Yaga is impressive (Tim built it for us), none of the English dare to eat maatjes and we had second-hand typical British weather.
That about sums it up qua highlights of the event for me really.
And it was fun.

Ian
Work starts on a new wooden robot based on dutch engineering principles.
see pic
looks a bit Heavey :)
Just as an aside Ian, that picture is marvellous ! The composition is just right, there is a certain dynamic suggested, and the eye is effortlessly guided towards the most important bit by all the lines and angles.
Sorry, couldnt help myself... bad habit from my old school days...
