Andy, what hazards?
Walls, drop offs, arena weapons and house robots.
quote:
Coming up next time, it€™s Archangel of the Abyss vs Wedga Revo in the Moat.
You really should check these things before posting tactics Andy :P
By the way, has anyone seen Alex online the past couple of days?
hes getting broadband and thus until it gets working, he wont have internet, cos Alexs parents I think are cutting out the dial-up.
Right. Seeing I wont be expecting tactics from him, the fightll be done tomorrow.
Im here but tactics are pretty standard but Im at school today but will be away from tomorrow til friday so wont be on, spin into it basically avoidind gettign attacked by the weapon if possible.
It€™s the heat J final coming up, and on paper we€™ve got a real treat for you. In round 1, both Archangel of the Abyss and Wedga Revo dominated the battles against Cyclone Force and Veg 2 respectively. Of course, anything can happen especially as the final will be in the arena master of short battles€¦ The Moat!

Wedga shoots forwards and slams into Archangel and flips the walker over, all in the blink of an eye before the dangerous spinner can get its defensive wheel up to speed! Wedga starts pushing Archangel towards the moat, but Archangel manages to self right and tip itself out of the way, causing Wedga to shoot forwards! Wedga stops in its tracks and turns towards Archangel to attack again, but this time getting delfected by the upper ring and nearly being thrown into the moat!
Wedga carefully drives around Archangel so as not to be tipped in on the next attack, and Archangel starts moving towards Wedga. Wedga drives in at archangel again, but the lower ring is up to speed by this point and Wedga is knocked away in a spin! It takes a few vital seconds for Wedga to stop spinning around and gain some semblance of control, and Archangel uses this time to spin up the upper flywheel again so Wedga can€™t come in without being knocked away.
However on Wedga€™s next attack, Andy gets the angle right and Wedga manages to slide under the teeth of Archangel, so it€™s the spinner that€™s bounced upwards by the wedge! Wedge drives forwards and flips Archangel over again! Archangel self rights, but lands smack on Wedga€™s flipper and is flipped over and into the moat!
Dun, dun. Dun. Dun. Dun. Another seed bites the dust, as Archangel of the Abyss becomes more harmless than Cupid of the Abyss. Wedga causes a Revo-loution into the last 16!
Stick the following words together to make a sentence:
That, Was, A, Wooty, Fight, Frank.
Next time its heat K. Fighting for us will be:
Going Crunch (12) vs Beta - Roulette
SDIV - vs Panicking - Classic
*hands Frank a nice metal floor*
Frank, why dont you just get a new floor out of your trousers? You have everything else in those pockets :p
Dont be silly. Itd tear the lining.
Well you had a whole smoking room in there once if i remember...
Yeah... Never said I managed to get it out again though, did I?
Yes, yes you did.

It€™s time for the final of heat L, and despite none of Mr. Weston€™s entries being in it, it€™s certainly been L for two of our contestants. Drilla Killa was the first to go when Tiger Shark stacked it in the Last€™Bot Standing arena, and Push-ish quickly managed to tip over Squish who was unable to self right. Now we move to the Classic arena to see which of our heat finalists goes that one step further.

Push-Ish is onto Tiger Shark before the echoes of the word €œactivate€ have even died down, and starts pushing from the side! Before the wedge can get under fully, however, Tiger Shark spins away, and Push-Ish zips away to get away from the flipper, before quickly turning and going at Tiger Shark again! Tiger Shark turns a little and moves away from the charge, trying to get under the side but not being fast enough.
Both machines spin to face each other, and it€™s Push-Ish who comes up the better, slipping under Tiger Shark€™s front and starting to take the flipper towards the house robots, but Tiger Shark again slips off the wedge and tries to use the manoeuvre as an attack on Push-Ish€™s side, but again Push-Ish keeps going forwards and out of danger! Tiger Shark spins around and goes after Push-Ish€™s rear end, and succeeds in getting under, but not fully as Push-Ish gets away in time, and the resulting flip only bounces Push-Ish up a bit!
Still, Push-Ish momentarily has its wheels off the ground, and Tiger Shark uses the split second to move forward and push, then flip Push-Ish into Flipup€™s CPZ! Push-Ish lands right on the flipper plate and is launched back into the fight, ironically landing behind Tiger Shark, which soon finds itself in the same CPZ. Again Flipup shows what a flipper can do when there€™s no pesky weight limit involved, and Tiger Shark has to self right in the middle of the arena, provided of course that the flipper hasn€™t been broken from the impact€¦
Yes, Tiger Shark leaps up safely, and the two machines both resume prowling around each other. Push-Ish strikes first, ramming under Tiger Shark€™s side and slamming it into an arena wall, bouncing Tiger Shark away from the wall with a loud crash! Straight away Push-Ish is on the attack again, but Tiger Shark gets out of the way and flips Push-Ish into The Militant€™s CPZ! A blow from The Militant sends Push-Ish spinning out of the CPZ, where Tiger Shark gets under it and shoves it back in again!
This time the front wedge is struck, and one of the Militant€™s teeth flies off! The uneven balance of the weapon makes the machine start wobbling, and so the driver turns it off and settles for firing the twin flame throwers at the two combatants. Meanwhile, Push-Ish takes Tiger Shark along for a ride and slams it into another wall, before popping it into Flipup€™s CPZ again. However, Tiger Shark is able to get away without being flipped, only to be caught by Push-Ish and slammed into another wall near the CPZ!
Tiger Shark reverses a little, turns and slams forward again to get under Push-Ish, flipping it along the wall! Tiger Shark follows Push-Ish as it bounces along and flips it again into Uncle Tomahawk€™s CPZ! Immediately the axe starts smashing down, missing at first, but soon crashing into the top armour of Push-Ish! Push-Ish starts to reverse out of there, but Tiger Shark gets under Push-Ish€™s rear and shoves it back in there!
As a siren wails and the pit descends, Push-Ish is caught between a Shark and a hard case, and drives forwards off of Tiger Shark€™s flipper to remedy the situation. Uncle tomahawk is still flailing at Push-Ish when Push-Ish gets under the house robot and shoves it into the wall to get some space to get out of the CPZ, but Tiger Shark moves forward with it, and so there€™s a four way sandwich going on with the wall and Tiger Shark, and Push-Ish and Uncle Tomahawk as the meat in the middle! The axe is still flailing around, but not hitting anything.
Tiger Shark tries to flip Push-Ish, but with the combined weight of Uncle Tomahawk as well, can€™t manage it. Realising it€™s the only thing that can give, Tiger Shark reverses. Push-Ish immediately turns and reverses out of the CPZ, but Tiger Shark is still on the attack and flips Push-Ish against the wall! Uncle Tomahawk immediately comes out of the CPZ and knocks Push-Ish down. Tiger Shark goes in for the kill, but Push-Ish gets away and Tiger Shark slams into the wall! Push-Ish reverses into Tiger Shakr before it can get away again, and pops it into Uncle Tomahawk€™s CPZ!
Tiger Shark gets axed twice before reversing out of the CPZ and charges into Push-Ish€™s side, but can€™t get under! The flipping plate on Tiger Shark has been bent upwards a bit making it useless against skirts. Push-Ish slams Tiger Shark into a wall hard, and rams in a few more times before Tiger Shark is able to get away, causing Push-Ish to slam into the wall. Push-Ish quickly responds though, and dunks Tiger Shark into Flipup€™s CPZ! Tiger Shark is lucky, and gets turned over by the rear bulldozer this time, and quickly self rights, or rather tries to but falls back down again as Push-Ish slams it into a wall while upside down!
Tiger Shark is able to self right this time, only get to slammed a couple more times by Push-Ish and gets taken along the wall and into the Militant€™s CPZ. The flywheel is off, so all The Militant can do is give the two machines a flame bath. Tiger Shark reverses past Push-Ish, who keeps going after Tiger Shark, but misses and slams into The Militant, before reversing after Tiger Shark. However, Tiger Shark is able to get under the rear and shunts Push-Ish along the arena and into Bane€™s CPZ!
The horrible hand grips onto Push-Ish, but can€™t seem to do more than bend the armour in a bit. Push-Ish tries to reverse away, but Bane€™s grip is strong and we€™re down to the last thirty seconds of the fight! Finally Bane releases its grip, and Push-Ish shoots out of the CPZ. Tiger Shark is waiting though, and gets under Push-Ish€™s rear again, flipping it over just as Cease is called! We€™re in for a judge€™s folks.
Control: A very hard one to call. Both machines spent a lot of time being pushed and flipped around, and both spent a fair time in CPZs and being attacked by house robots. Tiger Shark just about spent more time on top. Push-Ish really pulled some points back towards the end, but couldn€™t get away from Bane. Tiger Shark: 3. Push-Ish: 2.
Damage: Tiger Shark looks very beaten up, but a lot of the damage is from the drum to the paint work and can be discounted. On further inspection, not only is the flipper plate bent but it has some noticeable dents in the sides from being slammed around, and has a couple more big dents from where Uncle Tomahawk bashed it. Push-Ish on the other hand has a few dents from Uncle Tomahawk, and two somewhat larger dents from Bane. Marks from the blows from The Militant couldn€™t be found. Tiger Shark: 2. Push-Ish: 3.
Aggression: At times, both machines were all over each other. Tiger Shark kept sending Push-Ish into CPZs, and pinned Push-Ish on two occasions. Push-Ish also sent Tiger Shark to meet the house robots though, and got it flipped a couple of times, also doing more direct attacking rather than getting the house robots to do the work. Again, points were really gained at the end before meeting Bane. However Tiger Shark spent longer on top, especially with the pinning times taken into consideration. Tiger Shark: 3. Push-Ish: 2.
Total: Tiger Shark: 8. Push-Ish: 7.
Well, it was a bugger to decide, but Push-Ish is out pushed. Tiger Shark goe through to the last 16!
Were nearing the end of the heats now as we move into the last quarter. In heat M:
Manic Monsoon (8) vs Orka MK 3 - Unimmediate Peril
Deep Impact 2 vs Agitator - The Moat
Damn you wee house robots you will this time...
Wooty fight :)
Monsoon should get though this heat like no-mans business.
Dave...Monsoon is a seed...:p

Despite being late with the fights, we€™ve made it to heat M at last, where we€™ve got four more fresh faces to fight frantically for erm€¦ Something else beginning with f. Let€™s meet them while I dig this hole a bit deeper, shall we?
Manic Monsoon is our probably doomed seed for today. It€™s a very well armoured ramming machine, with a lifter capable of tipping over 200 KG€™s. Skirted, and able to self right if it needs to, Monsoon could go manic on any opponent, but control is a bit of an issue. As Monsoon€™s Back, it appeared in NSBFL X and won the New Blood tournament, beating Love Bite in the final.
Orka mk 3 is a similar machine, with nice strong Ti armour and a self righting dorsal fin, and an electric lifter which can apparently lift a bus. I€™d like to see that, but it should be more than enough to lift over a 100 KG machine. As ever with these push €˜bots, control can be a problem. Will Orka make its mk?
Agitator is a real entrant. It€™s a low box shape with an overhead spinning bar with nasty chisel teeth to open up all comers. It€™s more than capable of KO€™ing other machines, as despite the fact it€™s never been on T. V, it does have a few wins to its name. However the weapon belt is exposed to axes, and there doesn€™t seem to be a srimech there.
Deep Impact is our last challenger. The name comes from its twin rear flywheels, which are built to get as much of the weight as possible to the rim. It€™s invertible and the two wheel drive should make it manoeuvrable, but the flywheels don€™t work as well upside down, and being invertible, axes and crushers could always have fun with the wheels.
Battle 1
Manic Monsoon vs Orka MK 3 in Unimmedite Peril

ACTIVATE!!
Both machines take off quickly, with Manic Monsoon slamming under the side of Orka and slamming it into the arena wall! Orka bounces off, and spins away from the zone and aims for Monsoon€™s side, but Monsoon reverses away from anger and into the arena centre. Orka flies at Monsoon€™s front, and Monsoon slams forwards as well! The two meet with less of a crash and more of a bump, as neither is able to get under the other.
The two stalemate for a couple of seconds, before Monsoon starts gradually edging Orka backwards. Orka backs away to get in a good charge, but Monsoon just flies forwards and gets under the momentarily stationary Orka! Orka is rammed hard into the wall backwards, and Monsoon backs off to give it another slam! Orka almost gets away from the first slam, but then escapes the second, and goes for Monsoon€™s side! With little room for a good ram, Orka is unable to get past the skirt however, and Monsoon gets away and the two end up going head to head again!
Once again, Orka is inched backwards, but spins away from the encounter and Monsoon goes flying into the far horizon until Dan puts the brakes on, and spins Monsoon around, only for Orka to slam into Monsoon€™s side, lift it over and push it into the arena wall! Monsoon gets away from Orka€™s next attack, and self rights to make the wedge useful again. Orka however uses this time to get under Monsoon€™s rear and push it into another wall.
Monsoon turns and reverses away from the wall, just avoiding an incoming slam from Orka, and gets away to build up some space. Orka turns and chases Monsoon, but with Monsoon being more than twice as fast, it€™s a hopeless run. Monsoon spins and charges straight back at Orka€™s front and pushes it back slowly before Orka is able to spin out of the way, and manages to get under Monson while doing so!
Orka pushes Monsoon along for a little but, but then suddenly slows down to a crawl and stops. Monsoon wriggles off the scoop, and Orka isn€™t going anywhere, even when Monsoon gives it a nudge. Orka is counted out, and Manic Monsoon is through to the heat final! When examined later, it turned out that all that had happened was Orka€™s wheels had worn down a little. 2 mm€™s in fact, resulting in Orka being grounded and unable to move.
Orka MK 3 proves that having an uber low ground clearance isn€™t always an advantage. Manic Monsoon storms through to the heat final! Manically!
Battle 2
Deep Impact vs Agitator in The Moat.
3€¦
2€¦

ACTIVATE!!
Deep Impact shoots forwards at Agitator, but gets deflected by the spinning bar! Agitator backs away from Deep Impact and spins the bar up, while Deep Impact spins around to bring the flywheels to bear! Agitator now has the bar spun up, and charges at Deep Impact! Bar meets flywheel, and both Deep Impact and Agitator are spun away. Agitator has a moment of crisis, looking like it might tip over, but stabilises. Deep impact is having flywheel trouble though, as the impacted flywheel has taken a hole. Deep Impact is jumping around as the uneven gyroscopic force kicks in, so the troubled flywheel is turned off.
Agitator is back under control now, and goes on the offensive, aiming for the side of Deep Impact! Deep Impact spins away from the attack, but is slow to turn and takes the shot! Deep Impact is spun around, then tips over sideways! Agitator attacks again with the spinning bar and knocks Deep Impact around, while Deep Impact suffers horrible driving problems. Matt realises at last that the one spinning flywheel is creating another uneven gyroscopic effect and turns that off too, but Agitator attacks again and Deep Impact is spun into the moat!
Deep Impact impacted into a deep pit. Clearly deeply agitated. Agitator goes through to the heat final!
And so the heat final is Manic Monsoon vs Agitator in the Classic arena. In other news, the Roulette arena is now fixed. Join us again for the weakest link€¦ In the drive chain:wink:
For my fight comments, please place the following words in order:
Woooty
Fights
Frank
Monsoon not to be stopped by the spinner and plow into the semis.
It€™s heat M final time, people. In the first round, Manic Monsoon went through by default when OrkaMK 3€™s tyres wore down, grounding it, while Agitator damaged the weapons and body of Deep Impact, sending it into the moat. We move through to the Classic arena to see which rare beast moves through. Seed or realie?

Agitator backs off and starts to spin up, but Manic Monsoon gets straight under it, being bounced away a little by the cage, but soon turning and slamming under Agitator again! The lifter props Agitator up, and a quick drive forward pushes it onto its back, and it looks like Agitator is in real trouble as Manic Monsoon takes it into the arena wall! The cage starts spinning, but can€™t go on for long as it gets stuck against the arena wall. With no srimech, Agitator is counted out!
Well, that was€¦ Brief. Agitator very agitated. Manic Monsoon storms through to the last sixteen! Mani€¦ Wait, I did this joke last week. Sorry.
Up next week, we have:
Seggy the 3rd (6) vs Flipping Hell - Classic
The Doomsday Project vs Insecticide - Roulette
HEAT N
ROUND 1
1) Flipping Hell VS Seggy the Third (6)
Ill probably pick the seed to dump the flippah into the Pit. Think Gravity VS Tornado.
2) Insecticide VS THE DOOMSDAY PROJECT
The one of the three tonight Id most like to duel. Doomsday should be able to stand up to the flywheel, so Ill mainly stick to Insecticides sides (:proud:) and maybe try a 259 (ie use the disc to slice it up and bat it around the arena until it breaks down)
Also, if the worst comes to the worst, Ill just switch the disc off and use my superior drive to shove it down one of the Pits.
Me a seed = Me going out
Classic arena, I will wait until Dave W posts to post my set-up and RP
^700th post in NSBFL 7 ^
I forgot to say: Wooty fights Frank
Flipping Hell vs. Seggy the Third
Flipping Hell:
Flipper
18 mph
Wedge
Seg:
Interchangable weapons
18 mph
Invertible Box
The Segs Weapon of Choice will be the orginal invertible flipping arm, because it is invertible and has a lower wedge than the wedge if you get my point.
My RP will be, We have the same speed, but he has better turning, so Im using the acceleration from Seg to my advantage here and try to get head on, hopefully with luck I should get underneath the front like I did last year against Max and will push towards the arena wall before flipping, Flipping Hell wont go over, but with any luck the flipper wedge will land so that its back end is near the arena wall. With such a powerful flipper Dave cant self-right and stay this side of the fence.
WCS: Flipping Hell getting underneath, in that case full drive forward and drive off the rear taking the aerial with me.
Recap:
1 - Quick Start
2 - Ram into FH, get under
3 - Push to arena wall
4 - Flip over
5 - Push to get in right postion
Got that Franky :-)
Youve been reading the American tournies too much Dave:)
I have to practise you know.
Not on here... *rolls eyes*
I know, those tactics will be longer than the fight:
Flipping Hell moves forward, both robots meet, Flipping Hell gets underneath Seg and the flipper opens sending Seg straight into the arena camera
Cease
