ok. I will try that tact. but lets be honest. Debs also has a say.
Mike.
I know she does Mike...I was only taking the pee!
I supose you could also try adding please :proud:
Come on guys, are we going to have a social evening on the 13th? We could always go back to our stand-by venue(The Saltdean Tavern) if no-one has an alternative.
So, Mr Lambert, at what time should I expect an email from you requesting a re-convention of the south East FRA social?
(Waits patiently, sounds of crickets in the background.... tumbleweed is blown by the wind up Sittingbournes deserted High Street..... in the distance the Prairie dogs are howling...... (theres no trees on the Prairie!!) The sun slowly drops behind the distant mountains........)
:-)
Ill be checking the diary then..... and let you know.

Jon, were you expecting an e-mail? You should know by now that Mike takes things literally and he will drop you a line but seeing as there aint any trees on the prairie and Sittingbourne High Street is deserted (Ive been there - I know) hes got the rope but theres nothing for him to sit and wait in or on.
Well, as no-one seems to have made a suggestion, I will!!! :)
Saltdean Tavern, Sat 13th Nov, 7.30pmish all children welcome. You all know the drill, lots of chat and drinking(soft stuff for the drivers, we have to set a good example to the younger roboteers). Anyone up for it?
Yes
Jenny, it looks as though it is just you, me and the kids this weekend as the usual crowd will be entertaining each other over the weekend.
Seeing as no one has posted it looks as though its just you and me so perhaps we can go over the RR profile together and make sure Pillow is ready early for Doncaster ie. fingernails painted and make-up sorted :)
Thats fine by me, the kids can play and we can engage in some stratigic discussions about Doncaster. You never know maybe someone from the opposition might turn up. :)
Ah!...So this is what they mean by Pillow TalK!!
Oh we we did and we had a good time too. The kids played, we talked tactics and if I remember the lyrics to Nat King Coles song Nature Boy....
And we talked of many things
Fools and Kings
Very often within the same breath.
Well that was an intresting social, just myself and Karoline turned up. We were both late and so the evening was quite short. The whole idea of a social is that people attend and can chat about anything and everything. We could have saved ourselves the cost of petrol and food, if we had known what was going to happen. Maybe our regional rep should have arranged something, but the question was asked on this forum and a suggestion was made, even if it wasnt by him. He did say he would get back to us and didnt. Is this the way things are going to be?
We have held two good socials, and three not so good ones. I would like to see more that are well attended, we have a good crowd down here in the south east but we are spread out. We need better comunication between our group, and find some way to sort this out.
My apologies to Karoline, I did enjoy myself and Tanja always has fun with David. We did indeed talk tactics and have come up with a game plan for the next RR event. The above comments are just me venting my frustrations.
Jenny, you may be €œjust venting your frustrations€ but your post has got me very annoyed and angry. I do not live on this forum and I do not instantly respond to posts, real life has got a habit of intruding into leisure time. As I€™m working most evenings and weekends at the moment, my leisure time is somewhat at a premium. Do you feel this is unacceptable for a regional rep, as I am unable to devote every spare moment I have to the FRA? Do you think I should step down?
As you will see in a previous post, I did say I was going to arrange a meeting. However, as you announced a meeting at the Saltdean Tavern four days later, it seemed a bit pointless arranging another meeting, say, the next weekend. Funnily enough, I was busy this weekend just gone, which is why I did not come. Personally, I would of preferred a different date, which I could of made. Also, it seems that only yourself and Karoline confirmed you were going, so why was it a surprise only yourself and Karoline were there?
Yep, theres a cost involved going to these socials, in the form of food and fuel. It gets more costly for me when I find I€™m unexpectedly footing the bill for other peoples grub. I have, up till now, accepted this cost.
So far, I have (mostly) enjoyed my involvement in roboteering (nearly six years now), pre-FRA as a competitor and currently, as a regional rep and occasional competitor. Maybe I am reading too much into your post but it seems harsh criticism for failing to arrange a social within four days.
I would be very happy to see each social meeting we have well attended and would strive to accommodate as many people as I possibly could. Lets hope there are more people at the next one.
Jon.
The idea was posted on 20th October and you responded Nov 3rd.
Live on the forum - no, some of us have events to go to.
....and footing the bill for whose grub?
Jon, Im sorry if my last post offended you, that was never my intention. I know you have always had the best intrests of our area at heart and I see no reason for you step down. I do not know who would fill the post if you did. I know I certainly couldnt do it. Its hard enough to find the time to work on the robot in the evenings when I finish work, let alone do the FRA regional work on top. I hope that you will be able to arrange another social in the near future that is convieniant for all parties. Maybe in future to avoid any embarassment it may be better if we each pay for our own food. This would preclude any one person feeling obliged to pick up the bill.
Jon is a good rep and I hope he will think no more of stepping down. Let us indeed try to arrange another one that is at a time more convenient for all. I saw the postings but I was double tasked last weekend - my partner was taking a well deserved weekend off, so I had the kids, and I was booked for wine making. Speaking of which, some time we should find a venue where I can bring a couple of bottles of elderflower champagne so everyone can try it out.
Just a couple of bottles John? The prospect of tasting your elderflower champagne may make everyone in the region turn up. I think a couple of cases of the stuff might just do it, but only just :)
Personally I would like the social to consist of a more formal approach for the first hour or so where we can discuss any FRA issues with Jon as chair. Jon could then feedback as required to the main committee. The rest of the time could be the more usual drink and be merry. Perhaps look at the Yorkshire region as an example.
Paul
Midlands region has ceased to meet do to lack of attendees, would be nice to have a general meet somewhere we can all get to, and have a good 90mins
on pure robots then a curry house and pub:)
Der Boyz
I like Pauls idea of a proper meeting first. I can still bring the elderflower champagne though.
Now weve recovered from the holiday season (or not), does anyone else think that its about time we had another get together?
Helllllllllllllooooooooooooooooooo?
(voice echoes in the void)
All S.E roboteers, there is a FRA Committee meeting looming in a couple of weeks time. If there is anything you wish to be raised, drop me an email and we can discuss.
Following this I will arrange another social to discuss the latest news etc from the FRA. As suggested, the first part will be more formal, followed by the usual binge drinking! Current aim is weekend of 26/27 Feb for social.
Jon.
Hi Jon, no issues from me for the Committee meeting.
26/27 Feb is fine by me but family-friendly venue again please. Ill have David with me and Im sure that Bryony will be there too as probably will Tanja, and Kiara and.........
Lets just put the kids in a corner and give them some cola, jelly & ice cream and we can hire a bouncy castle for the adults to play on :)
Just to let everyone know that the Saltdean Tavern is off the venue list. Theyve decided to become family unfriendly by removing their play area. What with that and locking the gents at 9 this is a step too far.
The proposed date of 26/27 Feb is next weekend. Any confirmation of date/venue would be appreciated please.
Sorry, not this weekend. Looks like its going to be weekend after next, Sat 12th...?
South coast venue, tba.
Jon.
John,
Weekend of the 12/13th is the Magna event ....could make for a very quiet meeting!
Doh! Blasted robot events....grrrr!!
Jon.

Yep, certainly are- that was the plan!! Go on then, give us some more details!!

Looks good to David and me :)
Sounds good to me, thanks for that James.
Reckoning on Saturday 19th March then, 6pm onwards. I think this weekend is between events, so should be a goer.
Jon.
Fine by me Jon, though I might be a little late!!!
I have to finish work first.
Fine by me too - and this time no David :)
