Kill the house robots, two deadly spinners in the arena, the house robots are easy targets :)
Ill kill the house robots after Ive scattered enough parts of CS around :)
They are GOING to kill each other. Tom will of course keep Crankshafted away from MDU until hes spinning up fully, and both you and Tom assure us the robots inevitably kill with one hit... do you see?:lame:
I think MDU will survive mainly on its pure design of having a spinning mass as armour :)
Im hoping to use my slightly heavier weapon and powerful turbine to attack first and damage his weapon early, but if it comes to death blows, the extra weight should help my weapon as the strength is higher.
Thanks a squillion once more, guys! :) ...now who wants some fights? :proud:
This day has been anticipated since the War began, but it€™s finally here...the first Semi-Final of PTT3!!! :proud:
First up today, former UK champion and No.30 seed Tornado take on the fearsome newcomer UltraVerter! The current RW king justified its title win by pitting Axe-L-Bot X 2, Achilles AND Flea 2.0! But UltraVerter has just as impressive a record, flipping 13th seed 259 and send 29th seed Slammer 2 and Battle Raptor out of the arena! Will the Tornado be blown the same way or will UltraVerter€™s world be turned upside-down?
Next up, we see a Clash of Kings - PTT1 champ and No.9 seed Beta against PTT newcomer and NSBFL2 champ The Crashing Bore! The series one champion happily hammered past Dervish Mach 2, Junkyard Maw and Electro to make its 3rd Semi-Final, but Frank Goacher€™s prove his worth as well, defeating 2 Bell & Back, Armageddon Mk 2 and 26th seed Flip-O-2! One of these kings will be dethroned and the other will rule supreme - which one it€™ll be is anyone€™s guess!
After that, we welcome back another champion - our current PTT magistrate and No.1 seed The Business Ends, who will be clashing with newcomer Disctruction EVO! After rising (or should that be €œlifting€Â) to the top of PTT2, Hector€™s machine returned to defend its title on fine form, defeating Dantomkia, AWOL and Stratus 2! But Disctruction made a powerful impact in its Heat by defeating Turbo Falcon, 21st seed Double Killa and (most surprisingly) the No.5 seed Voltronic! Whatever happens when these bots get down to business, disctruction is guaranteed!
Finally this not-so-merry morn, we have our first Semi conflict between two unseeded machines - PTT2 veteran Heir to Black Panther and PTT newcomer(s) The Team That Wasn€™t There! Slashed out of Round 2 last season, the Panther€™s return sparked more of this season€™s shocks, giving the knockout blow to Baird, 6th seed The Matador and Bad Cluster! However, the Team has proved the biggest surprise of the War thus far, pitting Charybdis, 18th seed Bigger Brother and 2nd seed SpunOut 3.0, the highest seed casualty of the season up €˜til now! A panther against 5 little terriers...that€™s animal cruelty, surely?!
But enough of zis! Gloom and glory await...for whom, we shall find out... :proud:
SEMI-FINAL 1
ROUND 1
BATTLE 1
TORNADO (30) Vs ULTRAVERTER
Tornado was entered by Karl Fletcher and is armed with interchangeable weaponry. Its an extremely powerful 4WD box, can run upside-down and is currently the Robot Wars UK champion!

IN PTT2 (S5 version): it lost in Round 2 to Bigger Brother on a judges decision
(S6 version): it was flipped out of the arena in Round 1 by Pure Evil!
SEEDING: 30th
PTT3 HIT LIST: pitted one half of Axe-L-Bot X 2, pitted Achilles and pitted Flea 2.0
UltraVerter was entered by Tom Roper and is armed with a flipping arm on top of the robot. It€™s a low square box with skirting all round, runs on 6 inner wheels and the flipper has nearly twice the power of Wheely Big Cheese!
IN PTT1: did not compete
IN PTT2: did not compete
PTT3 HIT LIST: flipped over No.13 seed 259, sent No.29 seed Slammer 2 out of the arena and sent Battle Raptor over the fence as well
Today, Tornado will use the good ol€™ scoop - and will also release some air from the tyres to make the machine that little bit lower (just like in the Ex 2 Challenge Belt fight against Terrorhurtz)

Both machines get off to a nippy start!! The two wedges collide in the arena centre and a little pushing match seems to have gotten underway!! The initial shove gives Tornado a nice thrust against its enemy, but with two more wheels, UltraVerter pushes back and slams the No.30 seed smack-bang into the arena wall!! This ram sends the UK champion sliding up the front wedge of the PTT newcomer!! Tom prepares to fire the devastating flipper, but Karl finds that Tornado still has traction on the newbie€™s sloped front!! With the gas going as hard as it can, the PTT veteran darts off the wedge and shoots off back to the arena centre, just as the powerful flipper fires!! Retracting the arm in the blink of an eye, Tom backs his machine away from the barrier...but as he does, Tornado shoots into the newcomer€™s rear, wedge-to-wedge, and successfully slams the conqueror of 259 into the wall!! However, this slam has caused the No.30 seed to slide up onto the arm again!! Karl tries backing his machine away again, but proves too late!! The arm fires...and Tornado rockets into the air spinning like a Catherine Wheel!!! With the speed and height it€™s flying at, it seems more of a cannon than a contestant at the moment!!! Fearing the worst, Karl hands down the controls...then picks them back up in a mad dash when he sees that Tornado has landed back on the right side of the wall, a bare few feet away from crashing out!!! Delighted at staying in the ring, Karl guides the No.30 seed away from another attack, although the hard landing has made Tornado€™s responses pretty slow!! Swirling round again, UltraVerter heads after the UK champ once more, as it trundles into the Pit Release Button!! However, as Tornado swings round to try and get wedge-to-wedge with Tom€™s machine again, the PTT newcomer ploughs under the No.30 seed as it bares its side and slams it into the arena wall!!! Back underneath again, Tom fires the flipper...Tornado is flung over the wall, smacks off the protective Plexyglass screen, smashes off the edge of the arena fence and lands with a hard crash onto the camera track!!!
CEASE!!!!!
Tornado goes from raging wind to broken wind! The No.30 seed gets blown around and breezes out the arena!
ULTRAVERTER GOES THROUGH TO ROUND 2!!!

SEMI-FINAL 1
ROUND 1
BATTLE 2
BETA (9) Vs THE CRASHING BORE
Beta was entered by Karl Fletcher and is armed with a powerful double-headed 36V Etek driven electric axe. It has a wedge at the front, back and sides and was created by UK competitors Team Hurtz for Battlebots.
IN PTT1: it became the champ, pitting Hypno Disc in the Final!
IN PTT2: it lost a judges decision in Round 1 of the Semi-Finals to Pure Evil
SEEDING: 9th
PTT3 HIT LIST: helped to pit Dervish Mach 2, beat Junkyard Maw on a 31-19 judges decision and pitted Electro
The Crashing Bore was entered by Frank Goacher and is armed with a front Mousetrap-style guillotine (which can actually cause damage) and a front extending drill. Its a box-wedge shape and has 2 Hypno Disc-style srimechs
IN PTT1: did not compete
IN PTT2: did not compete
PTT3 HIT LIST: jammed 2 Bell & Back€™s flipper before it was overturned, beat Armageddon Mk 2 on a 28-25 judges decision and beat No.26 seed Flip-O-2 on a 28-22 judges decision
House Robots- Mr Psycho and Sgt Bash

For this bout, the Crashing Bore gets the nippier start and uses its greater speed to trundle around to the side of Beta in an attempt to get underneath!! Although the electromagnets are pretty much useless on a wooden floor :proud:, the low wedged sides of the No.9 seed are still proving a challenge for Frank€™s machine to slip under!! Finding this to time-consuming and noticing that Beta is turning for a hammer blow, the Bore fires the guillotine and gets a whack in first!!! The blade smacks down on the polycarbonate and puts a nice indent into the ex-champion€™s outer shell!!! But although the Bore now has a good grip on Beta, the No.9 seed has successfully managed to swing round and face its rival...and down comes the axe!!! Again and again, the hammer bashes down on the Bore€™s 6 mil titanium shell, as the PTT newcomer starts shoving the No.9 seed down the arena...towards Mr Psycho€™s CPZ!!! Upon approaching the corner of the arena, the Bore retracts the guillotine and deftly shoves Beta deeper into the House Robot€™s lair!! Nursing the several blows added to its armour, the PTT newcomer backs away, as Mr Psycho closes in on the former champion!!! Karl fires up the axe again, hammering at thin air!! The House Robot trundles closer, pushes the No.9 seed further into his domain...and smacks the hammer down on the PTT1 champ€™s top...causing barely any damage!!! Being the brute that he is, Mr P hasn€™t realised just how robust this year€™s Semi-Finalists are - or that Beta has slipped right past him and back into the arena!!! :proud: Meeting the Bore back in the centre of the ring, Karl steers his second Semi-Finalist past the PTT newcomer, trying to swing into the side and hammer the top there!! However, the slightly nippier Bore also twirls round, just as Beta fires its axe (putting another nice dent in the newbie)!! Frank fires the guillotine...and locks onto the axe-head!!! Karl tries shaking the blade off by attempting to fire the axe - but the pressure from that mighty mousetrap is keeping the hammer firmly down!!! The former champion can€™t get free...and Frank has an idea of what to do with it!!! Putting his machine into reverse, Frank guides the Bore down the arena, with Beta being dragged along with it!!! Despite the occasion stutter from the No.9 seed trying to pull itself free, the run goes steadily in Franky€™s eyes...and contemplates this as the Bore gently nudges into the Pit Release Button!!! The newcomer turns to face the abyss, but a tug from the No.9 seed sends the Bore sharply off course!! Keeping concentrated, Frank steers his machine (and the pinned former champ) back in the right direction - over to the Pit!!! The No.9 seed desperately tries to yank itself free as the crater looms nearer!! But, with the superior traction, the Bore slides past the Pit edge...dragging Beta into the great abyss in the process!!!
CEASE!!!!!
From Beta to worse! The No.9 seed is dragged out the contest and goes straight back to Step Alpha! :proud:
THE CRASHING BORE GOES THROUGH TO ROUND 2!!!

As the faster of the two machines, The Business Ends gets the quicker start!! The reigning champion dashes around to the side of Disctruction EVO€™s side and gives the PTT newcomer a quick jab from the electric axe!! However, the front flywheel of the Heat C winner has already begun whirling up - and Aaron decides to demonstrate its deadliness by turning the walker disc-first into The Business Ends€™ side!! The blades of the spinner slice into the No.1 seed and even manage to make the machine jump a bit off the ground for a second!! With a rather gruesome slice down one side of his machine, Hector quickly guides The Business Ends across the arena, with Disctruction in hot pursuit!! Suddenly, though, the reigning champion shifts into reverse and shoots backwards, round in an arc...and smack-bang into Disctruction€™s side!!! With the rear little scoop underneath the box-wedge, the axe activates and, combined with a smart push backwards, Hector has made Aaron€™s machine topple onto its back...but not for long!!! No sooner has The Business Ends whirled round to bring the axe into play, then Aaron fires the rear flipper and flicks his walker back onto its wheels!! Back right-side-up and with the disc already trying to get back to full swing, Disctruction twirls round to try and give The Business Ends another smack, but the No.1 seed has already shot away and released the Pit!!! With the siren echoing across the arena, Aaron€™s walker scuttles across the arena and successfully clips the side of the reigning champion as it shoots past to try and dodge any blows!! With another scar to be content with, Hector puts his machine back into reverse and swings back underneath Disctruction€™s side, nearly suffering a third slice in the armour in the process!! With the scoop back underneath, the axe activates, the champ reverses and the newcomer falls over a second time!! With Disctruction topsy-turvy again, The Business Ends swings back round and, just as the flipper fires to swing the walker back over, Hector activates the axe...and grapples onto Disctruction€™s underbelly!!! The walker€™s not righting anywhere with the champ pinning it down!! Retracting the flipper, Aaron prepares to try again, as the underbelly takes more bashes from the electric hammer!!! Suddenly, the flipper fires again and, this time, the Heat C winner is toppled back onto its legs!!! Infuriated at this onslaught, Aaron revs the flywheel back up again!!! The Business Ends darts away, but, at 15mph, Disctruction isn€™t too far behind!! Deciding on another attack, the No.1 seed abruptly gets into reverse and, in a wide arc, prepares to slip under the PTT newcomer a third time!! However, as the champ gets nearer, Aaron turns Disctruction round to face The Business Ends...and gives the No.1 seed a rearful of disc!!! The reigning champion hops before a second blow from the flywheel is struck, this time on the side!!! Realising its danger, the disfigured Business Ends dashes away, Disctruction not too far behind!! Suddenly, Hector puts €œreverse€ on again, darts back to the side of Aaron€™s entry, performs a neat and sharp 180 turn and smacks the top of the PTT newcomer, almost receiving another attack from the flywheel!! Keeping a grip on the walker, Hector decides to use the limited traction of Disctruction to his advantage!! Keeping the axe pinning down the newcomer, The Business Ends starts shoving the walking wonder up the arena...right up to Growler€™s CPZ!!! Slipping Disctruction right into the corner, the champ shoots away - just as the House Robot crashes into the side of the mighty walker, smacking it against the wall in the process!!! Although the innards have been given a right good shaking, Aaron€™s entry still seems fully operational - even the 5 mil Hardox armour only has a slight bash to it!!! Quickly scuttling back into the arena as Growler tries to grapple the flywheel, Disctruction returns to challenge The Business Ends...who promptly greets the newcomer by darting over and sliding the rear scoop back underneath the side of the machine!!! The axe activates, the champ reverses and the newbie is back on its back!!!
10...9...8...7...
The No.1 seed twirls back round to get the axe back in action, but Disctruction has already managed to right itself with the flipper!!!
...6...5...4...
Noticing the flywheel is quickly revving back up again, The Business Ends darts away from the newcomer...but not before taking one last blow to the side armour!!!
...3...2...1...
CEASE!!!!!
With one last clip to the champ€™s side, the fight draws to a close. With both Semi-Finalists still on the go, we€™ll need to see the judges for a decision. Will The Business Ends meet its end - or will Disctruction become disc-content? This could very well decide the fate of the crown, so let€™s get a result...
Style (/10): D:EVO=6 TBE(1)=7
Control (/10): D:EVO=7 TBE(1)=8
Damage (/10): D:EVO=8 TBE(1)=6
Aggression (/10): D:EVO=7 TBE(1)=8
TOTAL (/40): D:EVO=28 TBE(1)=29
The decision has come through...you know the criteria by this stage...the fate of the champion hangs in the balance on 1 single point...but there won€™t be any anarchy today! They€™ve gone for The Business Ends!
THE BUSINESS ENDS (1) GOES THROUGH TO ROUND 2!!!

Right from the off, the Team That Wasn€™t There quickly starts to split up, but the much quicker Heir to Black Panther simply charges right towards the separating segments and ramming into the side of one of the quintuplets!! Alex fires the axe and brings the Mortis-style blade down on top of the segment he chose to attack!! The Team member tries to get away as its companions approach also, but HTBP has simply darted backwards down the arena, outrunning its Lightweight opponents and dragging the side-on cluster piece along with it!! The four remaining Team members try to catch up, but too late - HTBP has nudged into the Pit Release Button!!! Just as the siren starts to echo round the ring, the trapped Team member tries to pull itself away, but HTBP still has a firm grip on it with the pneumatic axe!! With the remaining members in hot pursuit, the PTT veteran darts forward, shoving the pinned Lightweight along with it!! The four members narrowly miss their target as HTBP shoots over to the Pit, releases its grip on the struggling Lightweight...and allows it to plummet to the depths of the arena!!! 1 down, 2 to go!!! Angered at the loss of its team-mate, one segment darts over to HTBP...who promptly swirls past the cluster piece and nearly gets it to Pit itself!!! The PTT veteran€™s great manoeuvrability and speed are really coming in useful here!! With another quick dodge after another segment tries a ram attack, HTBP zips back to the arena centre and twirls round to head on the attack...only to go head-on with one of the four remaining members and get shoved across the arena into the fence at the top of the ring - but not before putting two nice little holes in the 1 mil Lexan top of the machine!!! Just as the little Lightweight tries a second ram, HTBP pulls away from the cluster piece€™s line of fire, twirls round and smacks into the little machine€™s side!!! With another fire of the axe, a third hole is punched through the top plate...just as the other three pieces shoot over for a crack at the veteran!!! Sharply turning towards the Pit, Alex piles on the petrol (so to speak) and darts across the arena, the pinned and writhing Team member in front!! Although HTBP is successfully outrunning the other members, the piece he has grappled onto is proving a tough customer!! With the Pit edge barely a few feet away, the Lightweight tries to break away - but ends up simply pulling the PTT veteran round to get its rear facing the Pit!!! With the other Team members closing in, HTBP quickly whirls back round and, with one last shove, gives Alex his second cluster kill of the fight!!! Only one more to dispose of and he€™s through to Round 2...but the last three pieces has finally caught up!!! One gives HTBP a sharp blow to the side, nearly sending it down the crater there and then!! With a sharp dodge, the PTT veteran narrowly misses a second shove from the second segment (who nearly suffers from suicide :proud:) and a quick little dash backwards, Alex avoids a third Pitting attempt from the third member!! As the other Lightweights reform for another attack, HTBP seizes its chance!! The PTT veteran rockets forwards and crashes into two of the surviving pieces!!! With one spun right round on impact, Alex guides the front wedge of his machine underneath its inverted wedge, axes the lid and moves forward with a small burst!!! The axe retracts...the other two Team members shoot forwards...HTBP gets a powerful shove from the rear...and topples into the Pit...on top of Team Member No.3!!! Alex breathes a mighty sigh of relief - before breaking into cheers of delight!!!
With 3/5 pieces in the Pit, 5/5 pieces are out the contest! Looks like the Team That Wasn€™t There won€™t be having a reunion for quite a while now!
HEIR TO BLACK PANTHER GOES THROUGH TO ROUND 2!!!
Typical, innit? You wait ages for a Semi-Final fight, then suddenly, FOUR turn up at once! :proud:
SEMI-FINAL 1
ROUND 2 LINE-UP
Heir to Black Panther Vs UltraVerter
The Business Ends (1) Vs The Crashing Bore
Thoughts? Tactics? What did you think of Round 1?
Thank you! :)
Predictions!
Heir to Black Panther Vs UltraVerter: Sorry Alex, but Im gonna have to go with UltraVerter here to flip ya clean OOTA.
The Business Ends (1) Vs The Crashing Bore: Ooh, a very close fight, in my honest opinion. I think The Business Ends might be able to flip The Crashing Bore over, and push it into the pit, but if TCB can get a hold on TBE, then we might be looking for a new champion.
Awesome battles as ever Steve-o! :proud:
Heir to Black Panther Vs UltraVerter
No offence to Alex or Steve here, but I havnt got a clue how this robot has made it this far! :proud: Ill take UltraVerter to catpult it out very quickly...
The Business Ends (1) Vs The Crashing Bore
Difficult one, but I surpose the champion will go through here...itll be close though! :)
Wooooooooot:proud: Great writing Stevenator:)
Heir vs Ultraverter:
Sorry Alex but Im going with everyone else on this one... Heir to be thrown OOTA.
Crashing Bore vs Business Ends
Great... Just great. Having somehow dropped the former champ I get lumbered with the current one:lame: ...Incidentally I think this is the first time Ive run up against one of Hectors creations.
Anyways, pressing on... Car steering on TBE means Ill have better manoverability in close quarters, so Ill rush in and try to keep close throughout the match. Ill concentrate my gillotein blows in the centre of his machine so I should hopefully break or bend his arm out of use.
Im not sure what his armour is so I dont know if I can latch onto him or not, but if I get the chance to get under him hes going either into a painful house robot or down the pit:)
Great battle and I lost with just reasons too :) I enjoyed reading that battle and Id like to say congrats to Hector with TBEs win, good use of technique using my weakness of lack of traction in the DE design, well done.
