Re: Starting Point
thats what i did like 3 years ago before i did anything robot related i went and did a welding night course :D
not trying to give you bad habbits but on my earlier robots certain steel parts where 'borrowed' from there lol and i even got my lecturer to make the armour for my first ever robot TJ1 outta steel for me
so its worth seeing what u can get etc - cos they'll have loads of scrap they're not bothered about

Re: Starting Point
Cool think I might just have to do that then, do you know anyone on the forum making a123 packs?

Re: Starting Point
Okay so I think im going to try build my own packs, Im looking at 7s2p packs of the 2300mah cells. There going to need to power a electric scooter motor and 2 drill motor. Will this be enough to power it for a 3 min fight or is it overkill?

Re: Starting Point
Actually have just been on the A123 systems website and seen they are releasing a bigger cell. Which might mean I can just use a 1p pack
A few details can be found [ur=http://www.greencarcongress.com/2008...fil.htmll]here

Re: Starting Point
Been working on a design for my gearbox and base for a while now and thanks to alex have a sketch of it in cad.
http://i54.tinypic.com/2vrud61.jpg
The base on the image aint full size but to give you an idea of size the bulkheads are going to be 250x100x10mm and the base 350x400x?mm
What do people think and how thick do you recon the base should be?
