Going to put a megabyte style selfwrighter on it?
Hey
Ive done a random number generated draw for speculation purposes, but then found one of the numbered robots from the list earlier in this thread is whiteboards only. Are we a robot short ?
how high it it be on completition, Mark?
Thought Id post a warning note, lol. Japanese Fighting Tortoise currently has dimensions of 10x170x10cm...so I may need a pit bench in a corner so I can prop it up to save space. lol.
lol your going to have fun trying to turn that in the RC arena!
1.7m?! Am I reading that right?!
I thought hornet was wide and that is 0.75 wide
What the hell are you building?
The disc height of is 98mm but the overall height
including the link is approximately 119.7 Alexander

Yeah, youre reading that right Gary. lol. I know, itll be fun to turn. Think there should be a prize for anyone who can get it OTA. lol.
Do you think I should shorten it a bit then? I dont really want to...lol

the arena is like 1.5m wide so i think you should abit lol
Ah, only need to shorten it by 20cm then. lol. God the arena is small!
id say its abit wider then 1.5 but not by much
would say a robot at that width would be solid to drive in the RC arena - r u having a weapon?

Can I get drawn against you in the first round Dave?
Hope so Gary, you could cut it in half for me. lol
The RC website says their arena is 7x6x3 metres?
thats the outside of the arena - well i think
Meh, I could shorten it to 1.4m I guess. Would just have to remount a motor.
i do believe the rule was 1.2m in any direction.. you might want to contact RC to see if there ok running a 1.7m long robot..
I had a look at rules and there werent any regarding size. However, I did PM Grant yesterday about it to ask, just got no reply yet.
his snowboarding in the alps atm you will get a reply when he gets back next sunday
Lucky him. lol
questions.
Feather full body spinner...
Is it ok to have the link on the base like dizzy tilly ? My dome is completely one piece. ( cant fit the link in the centre at the top )
Where do I put a power light ?
Whos idea was it to build one anyway !!! The simple things are taking longer than the main :)

what a brilliant idea !!
Why am i building a spinner.... because i dont want to scratch the paint on Rip Evo.... and my very first robot was a spinner.... and i had all the bits lying around, it hasnt cost me even 1p... and its for a bit of fun !!
Although i span it up yesterday and ran away !!
Spinners are ace. The whole point of this UK champ is to allow the spinners a run. If youre scared of total annihilation then dont play the game!
well the old saying goes....
You only get out, what you put in ! however... it may not still be completely together anymore !!
:)
its all about flippers...
i saw t-bone jonno been there beat that knocked it out of robot wars the lot - i hope your new spinner is better and will see it at RC - any photos tho? text my dad one so i can have a laugh with him
lol you ll see it on the day and not before. :)
and my first robot was a spinner
Was that T-Bone that appeared on Robot Wars Series 5 by any chance?
Also John, did u get my question regarding Storm Force?
what direction does it spin? clockwise or anti clockwise?
I have shortened Japanese Fighting Tortoise to 108cm wide now. Its not half as silly and impressive now, but a bit easier to get in the arena.
Cant wait for the spinners, hope I get to fight one.
it spins which ever way i tell it to... what direction does 360 spin and ill make sure its the opposite  lol .... Well thinking about it, they need to spin the same direction for a big bang dont they ??
no, my first robot was called Banana-R-Armour I know shockingly crap name.... it was for series 4.... failed the Auditions of Robot Wars, and Big Brother in the same summer !! So spent 6 weeks in the Canaries dossing instead.
Say Jonno, Banana-R-Armour and T-Bone I can remember were Pay-To-Drive robots, I didnt know u tried to enter BRA into Robot Wars! Did u try entering ur other robots like Wedge, Axe and Crusher (Think I have them all) into RW?
Also, I think I vaguely remember a robot called Stealth, did that try to qualify for RW and how well did that do in competitions?
Stealth was a series 3 machine that did...not so well...it had the double misfortune of both meeting Hypnodisc in round 2 and being held together with what seemed to be a concoction of sticky back plastic and hope.
I dont think Jonnos is the same one though? (Wasnt enough left of the original Stealth to rebuild it it seemed...:proud:)
No No, not that one
There was another robot called Stealth that Im sure John had, but it was definittly not the black one that lost to Hypno-Disc
360 spins clockwise- make urse anti clockwise with ur teeth about 40mm up :)
well they wont clash will they sure you dont want mine clockwise to? Then theres going to be a big bang.:)
if they go in oposite directions when the teeth meet they impact against eachother.. instead of brushing eachother
