The Chevron Championship
Awesome, wasnt expecting to make it past the trials, never mind to the heat final:)
Same tactics, split up and annoyingly attack from different directions, with the ultimate aim of pitting him. The fact that each part is pretty small should work in my favour, and the fact that axes are hard enough to aim when theres only one target:proud:

Both machines start the match somewhat slowly, Axe-O-Lotl coming out of the start as the Door Stops turn, one of them facing the approaching foe, but the clusterbot is yet to split...there is a pause, both machines at a standstill as they regard each other with malice, and Chris leans back in his control booth to check that the twin Franks are still there. Suddenly, one of the Door Stops twitches, and Axe-O-Lotl slams into full forwards, charging in towards the Door Stops, which are trying to split, but are having problems, as Axe-O-Lotl gets underneath the side of one of the wedges, slamming it into the wall as it drags the other cluster in its wake! The Door Stop is bounced in the air by the impact, and something goes flying - the hook for the linking mechanism, meaning the other half of the cluster is now free, and it immediately turns away to come in on the bigger Axe-O-Lotl, which is pinning its twin up against the side wall. The Door Stop comes in at the side of the shiny black machine, which backs away slightly, before firing the axe, penetrating the titanium side armour on the stranded Door Stop, but it finds itself being wedged underneath from the side by the other half of its opponent, breaking the traction from the wheels, and allowing the Door Stop to push it up towards the wall, near the patrol zone. Dragging the other wedge behind it, the Door Stop/Axe-O-Lotl combination slams into the arena wall, on the edge of the patrol zone, causing the weapon of Axe-O-Lotl to jerk out of it prey, and the robot to move somewhat on the wedge of its aggressor, who backs up, and pushes the stricken machine into the patrol zone. Door Stop retreats, clattering Matilda on the way out, as the house robots come in on Axe-O-Lotl, Shunt getting the scoop under the competitors six millimetre ground clearance, and dragging the robot across the patrol zone, striking a glancing blow with the axe as it does so. Seargeant Bash is in there too, nudging the corner of Axe-O-Lotl as the flamethrower torches the top armour - there was a flag of some sort on the reciever aerial thats now on fire, but Shunt drops Axe-O-Lotl, lining up another shot, but is only able to dent the corner of the front wedge as Chris makes his escape...turning to avoid the attentions of the awaiting Door Stops, but one of the clusters turns, and rams front-to-front into Axe-O-Lotl, slowing its progress. The wheels are spinning on both machines, trying to get a grip, and the Door Stop is losing the fight, suffering from the weight disadvantage as Axe-O-Lotl pushes it back, and fires the axe again, punctuating the front wedge, but the other Door Stop is there, around the side of its opponent, and wedges underneath once more, pushing Axe-O-Lotl in the direction of the pit! Frank pushes on his controls, steering to counter Chriss attempts at altering their direction of travel, and all three robots now approach the pit in a slow dance...until Axe-O-Lotls wheels ride up on the lip of the pit! One more shove from the Door Stop, and Chris can but watch as his robot slides down into the smoke...but taking one half of the cluster with it, teetering on the brink momentarily before falling in as well...and just to be bloody minded, Frank celebrates by driving the other Door Stop in on top of the pile.
CEASE
Axe-O-Lotl had trouble coping with the double onslaught, as Frank Goachers Top Quality One Hundred Per Cent Fat Free Door Stops go through to the Grand Final!

HEAT FIVE - INTRODUCTIONS
FIRST, FROM NORTHAMPTON, THOR!
This Hardox and aluminium armoured god of thunder runs from two C40-300 Magmotors and NiCad batteries making it very reliable, and a front scoop with zero ground clearance trapping opponents to use the rack and pinion pneumatically actuated hammer with interchangable heads, which are altered for different types of armour, and flies the flag for Vikings, destruction and beer.
FROM BEDFORD, LETHAL INJECTION!
A compact axlebot with twenty four volt Lynch motors driving Vulkalon tyred titanium wheels protecting the electronics, and a spiked scoop device to lead opponents into the primary weapon, a 60kj two thousand revs per minute spinning disc, constructed from Hardox and driven to damaging speeds by another Lynch motor. It has a top speed of eighteen miles an hour.
FROM ENGLAND, EXERTION!
Developed from the Forcepower series of robots, Exertion runs from an eighteen horsepower Magmotor drive system on four urethane tired wheels, and is armoured in 5mm Hardox to protect it from its own ramming power, which also serves as its main weapon. The front scoop also lifts from an electric motor to tip opponents over, and can lift either way up.
FROM GEDDINGTON, SLAMMER V!
An unusual axlebot style design with lifting plates on both sides of the robot that serve to flip the machines entire body over on to opponents. Slammer is armoured in aluminium boron carbide alloy with a selection of interchangable weaponry that can be fitted to the front, ranginf from hydraulic cutting claws and axe heads to spinning discs and a spinner killer plate.
FROM SUFFOLK, LEPROSY INFECTION!
A four wheel drive titanium armoured box with wheel guards and hinged wedges that guide opponents onto the front spinning drum weapon, which rotates at up to 4000rpm from a Lynch motor, with Magmotors for drive. It runs inverted, has bars at the sides to prevent stranding, and is armoured in titanium plate with side skirting to protect against wedges.
FROM GAINSBOROUGH, THE MAY TRACKS HAS YOU!
Finally, tonights only tracked robot runs from Lynch motors driving said tracks, located inside the robot for protection. Armoured in Hardox, its main weapon is the rear hinged flipper on the front wedge, which is powered by 500psi CO2 and works in conjunction with the rear facing spines on the front wedge which are designed to shred an opponents tyres.

Thor gets off the mark quickly, speeding out of the starting cage before turning sideways and clattering its rear end into the barrels, sending one rolling up on the side of the ramp. Jason concentrates, attempting to maneuver his machine into the left hand route, and manages to do so after nearly demolishing a section of the fence...but now comes down past the first pit, much more controlled, and dodges the approach of Sir Killalot, who is knocked backwards slightly by the side on impact of Thor, and retaliates by trying to block Thors route with the claw arm. It doesnt work though, and Thor is through with only the second pit and Dead Metal to go, but mistimes its approach to the obstacles, and the house robot is able to clamp the front pod of Thor with the pincers, and now brings in the saw...
WHAM! Thors hammer comes down, accompanied by sparks as it hits the diamond edged disc of Dead Metal, and...well Jasons laughing, as it appears the house robots blade has come off and is now rolling away, and falls flat on the edge of the pit before toppling in! But Dead Metal pushes back against Thor, trying to gain revenge for the loss of its weapon, and Thor is edged slowly back and over the lip of the pit, before being released down into the smoke!

Lethal Injection comes out of the start rather quickly, slamming itself into the scenery before spinning to turn into the angle grinder route. The axlebot comes into the alley between the ramrig and the set, making a slightly uneven journey through as the rig begins to squeeze in...Danny realises there is another way, though, and turns up onto the barrier as it closes, and his machines large Stinger-esque wheels allow it to ride up onto the top of the mechanism, and take the shortcut through to the end of the route...but Matilda awaits, and rams into Lethal Injections tyres with the tusks, and as the contestant machine falls away from the rig, one of the house robots tusks is firmly jammed into the wheel! Lethal Injection swings around, clouting Matilda in the side with the disc supporting spikes, and managing to squirm out of her grip, before Danny quickly reverses past the flame pit and into the end zone!

Exertion starts slowly, edging out of the cage before pausing to consider its next move. After considering his options, Andy drives Exertion forward into the left hand route, in past the first pit and speeding up towards Killalot, who advances to block the route of the low machine. Exertion backs up for a moment, before flooring the power and trying to burn past the house robot, but Killalot brings his claw down to put a stop to Andys charge, and Exertion rides up the claw blade, beaching itself...and now Killalot closes the claw onto the Hardox front scoop, plucking Exertion up into the air, and Andy attempts to escape, wheels spinning, but his robots wriggling only succeeds in getting Killalot to maneuver it over the pit, whereupon the rest of the robot suddenly falls limp around the scoop, and a chain link is just visible falling out of the gap under the front! Killalot then does what is expected and releases Exertion to its doom in the pit.

Mission accomplished, Slammer turns onto the ramp, correcting itself as it attempts to fit its full width on the ramp. The house robots begin to gather at the other end of the seesaw, and as Slammer comes down Dead Metal moves forward to try and grasp on to the axle with the pincers, but Alex is able to escape their grip despite gaining a scratch in the paintwork from the saw. Slammer comes forward, with only Shunt to beat, but the house robot comes in and knocks Slammer sideways with the scoop, firing the axe as well but missing the narrow body of the contestant. Shunt backs off for another run, theoretically leaving Slammer room to drive into the end, but there seems to be a problem with its drive; despite Alexs best efforts, he can only get his robot to move in circles around the right wheel...there is obviously something wrong with one of the Bosch drive motors, and he looks concerned as the house robots close in, Shunt denting the axle as Dead Metal roughs up the paintwork some more.

Chris leans forward, trying everything on his controls to release Leprosy, but it appears to be stuck fast, and he can only watch on as the rig closes, forcing his machine into the saws and creating more bright titanium sparks...and Leprosy is free! Chris seizes the chance and drives straight forward...back onto the rig. More frantic pushing of the controls comes to naught, and he hangs his head as he realises Leprosy wont progress much further this time.

Immediately the robots face a problem; there are three entrances into the maze, and five robots, none of which have hovering capabilities. As a result of this, the start of the races is something of a bottleneck, as the roboteers try to be the first into the maze, and Slammer and May Tracks tangle with each other over the left hand entrance, while Thor and Exertion attempt to go into the right, and Lethal Injection caltters the fence besides the otherwise unguarded middle gap. After a bit of confusion, May Tracks is the first into the maze proper, coming in through the fences, with Thor is second and Lethal Injection third. Exertion manages to straighten itself out and goes directly in through the gap, going straight at a junction and past the Sargeant, who flicks a flame at it in annoyance. May Tracks attempts to gain some ground, turning left to avoid Matildas area and straight into Lethal Injection, who appears to be having steering problems, while up on the balcony Alex is holding his controls out in front of him, as he seems to be unable to properly maneuver Slammers wide wheel track through the starting gate. Thor clatters a fence as Sargeant Bash torches the paintwork briefly, and retaliates by brining the hammer down and denting the barrier rather significantly. Exertion drives through, now in the lead, but crashes into Dead Metal as it comes out of a junction, and is gripped by the pincers before Andy has a chance to move out, and the saw comes down creating sparks from the Hardox lid, but little else. May Tracks takes advantage of this to regain the lead, shooting past Dead Metal and straight into a fence, Frank concentrating to straighten his machines not-pretty-but-it-works run out. Lethal Injection is slamming all over the place, eventually crashing into Matilda, who flips her tusks but unwittingly assists the axlebot in somersaulting over her back and...straight into another fence. Slammer, meanwhile, has finally made it into the maze but is being left behind fast, and now appears to be stuck in a corner, the wide body of Alexs robot not assisting him here. Time is ticking down, and Exertion gets free of Dead Metals grip, only to over-correct going into a corner as May Tracks edges ahead of it, with only one more corner to go, and Frank turns his robot around the fence before flooring the power and May Tracks shoots into the finish zone! He punches the air, having a particuarly sucessful heat so far, while around him everyone elses concentration increases. Lethal Injection slams its prongs into the arena side wall, forcing a reverse to free itself, while Thor now faces up for a rematch with Dead Metal, who is fighting for the spirit of its saw, and crashes into the front of the house robot at some speed, bending the pincers back and...theres gas leaking from the front of Dead Metal! Jason cheers, as Danny and Andy congratulate him heartily, the audience roaring appreciatively. Meanwhile Slammer is still stuck, so far from the competition, and Alex does not look very happy at the moment, almost resigned to his fate.

Both machines immediately charge in towards each other, Thor sliding across the arena floor as it turns to try and get in on May Tracks armour, but Frank counters by reversing to the right, avoiding the first slam of Thors hammer, and now drives in on its red opponent, wedging in underneath the front corner. Thor is able to get traction on the arena floor, though, and comes down off the flipper of May Tracks, before driving forward slightly and firing the hammer as the robots collide...just missing the top armour of its opponent though, grazing down the side of May Tracks Hardox bodyshell as Jason shakes his head in frustration.
May Tracks comes on the offensive again, turning to get just underneath Thor and driving onwards, pushing the struggling opponent in a wide arc, and then...
FLIP! Thor is thrown into the air, rolling end over end and coming in to bounce gently off the arena floor - the hammer fires, though, seemingly remaining in position as the rest of the robot somersaults around it back onto its wheels. May Tracks flipper retracts in a rush of vented gas, as Frank leans up in his control booth, powering forward to retain the advantage against Thor, but Thor gets away, moving in reverse to stop by the edge of the flame pit, before coming in on another charge, as May Tracks turns to face the approaching opposition before applying full power to both Lynch drive motors...the machines collide yet again, and as May Tracks front wedge slides undernath Thors scoop, Thors hammer swings over the robot again!
FLIP! Thors weapon makes contact with the top panel of the flipper as the machine is thrown over the top of May Tracks, caught on one of the spikes, and lands on the arena floor just behind Franks machine, which turns to face Thor just as it swings the hammer to selfright again. Thor scrambles back on its wheels facing May Tracks, which is broadside on, and rams in on the side of its opponent, the front side plate of Thor catching on the corner of May Tracks, and slowly begins to push against the tracked machine...wheels and tracks spinning, Thor edging May Tracks slowly onto the flame pit as the struggling of its opponent causes the pair to swing from side to side, the tracks chewing up the warning stripes around the flame grid...the titanic struggle continues, both roboteers concentrating and pushing their machines hard, as May Tracks continues to swing the advancing Thor sideways, firing its flipper to try and jolt the hammer machine off the side, but Thor finds room under May Tracks side as it jumps off the ground from the recoil, and surges over the flames to pin May Tracks up against the arena wall, before bringing the mighty hammer down onto the flipper of its opponent!
May Tracks armour isnt damaged much by the assault, but its still pinned in there as Thor swings the hammer back for another go...Dead Metal comes in towards the action, the contestant machines being on the lip of the lower patrol zone, but backs up almost in fear as the hammer comes down again, bending one of the spikes on the top of May Tracks as the whole arena shakes slightly. Thor reverses back for another attack, and May Tracks creeps slowly backwards, trying to escape, but hitting the house robot who awaits. Dead Metal comes out and pushes May Tracks away, back on to the flame pit, as Thor comes in...the clock begins to tick down, and Frank tries to steer his robot away from the hammer, but is pushing his controls madly - it doesnt look like May Tracks has drive on one side, and as it moves in a slow circle Thor comes in again, getting under the rear corner, and summons up the energy to slam the hammer down on May Tracks again, stopping it in its tracks just before the judges decide the winner!
CEASE
Thor reverses away from its opponent as the flames flicker again, and it doesnt look like May Tracks has any power left - but the match will go to the judges...
DAMAGE: Thor took almost no damage aside from cosmetic scratches; May Tracks had one drive motor become unbolted as a result of the hammering, collected several dents, and broke a battery connection in the last attack: May Tracks 0, Thor 5 (x4=20)
AGGRESSION: At the start they were equally aggressive, and Thor just won out at the end: May Tracks 2 (x3=6), Thor 3 (x3=9)
CONTROL: Thor dominated May Tracks late on, but was flipped around quite a bit earlier: May Tracks 2 (x2=4), Thor 3 (x2=6)
STYLE: Thors self righting was stylish, but May Tracks clinches it because of its acrobatic flipping of Thor (not that it matters :P): May Tracks 3, Thor 2
The May Tracks Has You: 13
Thor: 37
It was a rather one sided decision after a fight which started rather closely; the winners are Team Bud and Thor!

Exertion immediately leaves the starting area to come straight at Lethal Injection, which doesnt seem to quite know how to handle its opponent, turning sideways to try and spin the disc up, and allows the left side wheel to take the force of Exertions attack. Exertion is in under the axlebot now, pushing it sideways towards the arena wall, and Danny tries to drive his robot off the front scoop, sliding down as one of the prongs hits the ground, and the raised front of Exertion pushes Lethal Injection end over end, and...
CRASH! Lethal Injection is thrown upwards, catching Exertions front with one of the spikes as it does so, as the disc hits the floor running in reverse at full speed and sending both robots jumping into the air, sparks flying. Exertion drives straight back in, catching the still-bouncing Lethal Injection on the scoop again, and pushes it into the wall, giving both machines a jolt as the spinning disc of Lethal Injection is stopped by the side. Andy looks up at the scene through the Lexan, steering Exertion to get around the other side of Lethal Injection, which doesnt seem able to move cleanly, one of the front spikes impaled on the side hinge of Exertions front scoop, and the large wheels of Dannys machine provide little resistance on the arena floor as Exertion powers forward, the pit looming ahead. The disc on Lethal Injection spins wildly, repeatedly sparking as it glances off the titanium front scoop of Exertion, but the struggling is for naught as Exertion turns, lowering the scoop and leaving one of Lethal Injections large wheels hanging over the edge of the pit! Danny realises its over now, pulling back the aerial on his controls as he shakes his head, and Exertion comes in with one final ram on the slowly fading Lethal Injection, sending it toppling down onto the tyres and into the smoke.

5mm hardox is a good armour for any robot. a chassis made from it even better. depending on how its built of course Thor will just go for as many hits as possible and try to damage internals with the sheer force of the hammer blows. Thor is good for 15 to 20 full power hits then will get less as gas runs out. still with thors front scoop which is mounted on a pivot should get under Exertion all day long, push into a corner and make an Exertion pancake. :)
