Um...um...Achilles to get his revenge from MN1? :proud:
GeForce 4.0 vs WORCK: Now Im up against it. Actually, when I looked at who had won through to this round, one of the robots I wouldnt liked to fight was GeForce, becuase of my Envy-like shape, I can get under it quite easily. I actually going to try and flip it about in the centre of the arena, because his flipping power will steadily decrease every time he self-rights, and try to get him with his back facing the arena wall.
This will either prevent him from self-righting, this allowing me the win, or he will self-right over the wall and land on his wheels - so he cant get back in.
Good luck AJ
Biatch Beater vs Hoof
Im going to go with Biatch Beater here to break up the Sheppard design.
Starstorm 2 vs Cosmic Thunder 2
Starstorm isnt that good if a wedge gets under it, and I reckon Cosmic Thunder will get under and toss him out!
Wedge Devolution vs Achilles
I DONT KNOW.... :lame:
Ah Aarons drum machine.
Im going to remove the skirts, but I have a little speed advantage, so Im going to try to break free and attack the sides, where once under Im going to waste no time in pushing it towards the nearest wall to toss it over. Hopefully the carbon fibre will hold out long enough (but has anybody ever tested carbon fibre against a spinner?). But basically thats my aim, use my extra speed to speed away from trouble.
«GeForce 4.0 vs. Worck»
Same tactics as usual - get under that 5mm clearance, get its wheels off the ground, push it towards the wall and launch it right over the top. Wedge to wedge I have more power to get under it, but this shouldn€™t be needed as I will be aiming for Worck€™s sides. To be able to flip me, Worck needs to get a run at my skirts, get under them, then drive me up the wedge and then operate the flipper. This is not going to be easy at all, and I expect it to have minimal attempts at flipping me. In contrast, I should be able to keep attempting to throw Worck into orbit. Its a case of rear hinged flipper vs. an unskirted robot and a front hinged flipper vs. a skirted robot.
Elsewhere I think Biatch Beater, Starstorm 2 and Wedge Devolution will be going through.
I DO have skirting AJ - thats what the wedges are, very strong skirting, but theyre not fixed so my robot can move, as they have Titanium hinges, but are made of 3.25mm Hardox, and link at the corners.
And my robot is based on Envy, except with a MUCH more powerful flipper and the wedges. It can get under everything no trouble, and its 30cm in height. Im 15cm in height, so getting under you is no issue, and flipping you is no issue, as you can flip high - I can flip FAR! Plus, one advantage is I have more flips than you, and every time you attack, youre flipper decreases in power.
Plan remains the same - get under, flip him a bit to weaken his flipper, and then carry him to the wall (he wont slide off my barbed wedge) and just toss him over, but make sure I toss him into the pits.
Good luck AJ
Paul, you state neither wedges or skirts. Therefore, you do not have any. What does height have to do with anything? How often does Envy have to get under skirts? My flipper flips heigh and far. Your flipper also decreases in power every flip.
Keep trying...
No - my flipper is powered by CO2, yours is powered by Nitrogen. And I DO have wedges (Check the bit in bold):
€ WEIGHT: 100kg
€ ARMOUR: 5mm Hardox for the body and flipper. 6mm Hardox for the scoop. There are hindged wedges on the sides and rear of Worck made of 3.25mm Hardox. Behind the armour, all the way around Vulkanised rubber to shock-proof it against spinners.
€ SHAPE: A low wedge shape.
€ MOTORS: 2 x S28-400 MagMotors at 36V = 12HP
€ LOCOMOTION: 4 Vulkanised Wheels.
€ DIMENSIONS: (L) 70CM (H) 15CM (W) 70CM
€ COLOUR: Black for the flipper and barbs, white for the body.
€ WEAPONRY: A forward hindged flipper, running on a single 750psi ram running on CO2. The gas is contained in 2 x 2.5kg bottle, giving me 20 flips per fight, and the gearing on the ram 3:1 means we have 1300kg of flipping force! That should mean on a forward hindged flipper that I can flip almost everything OOTA.
€ SPEED: 13mph
€ GROUND CLEARANCE: The wedges, which join up at the corners of the robot, make the ground clearance effectively zero, but underneath the wedges is 5mm of clearance. The wedges are held on by Titanium hindges
€ STRENGTH: Near impossible to get under.
€ WEAKNESS: Low speeds.
You see?
This is what I saw several pages back:
quote:
GROUND CLEARANCE: The wedges make the ground clearance effectively zero, but underneath the wedges is 5mm of clearance. The wedges are held on
I forgot to finish that sentence, but when everyone was saying there were flaws in the specs, Martijn let me put it right. Its on the home-page of Kody and Martijn in the section for this tornument.
yes, all the stats are on our board Kody, and right there the stats of Worck are complete and they do mention the wedges
Im still gonna predict GeForce to win. :proud:
«SHAPE: A low wedge shape.»
This clearly indicates one wedge to me...
«No - my flipper is powered by CO2, yours is powered by Nitrogen.»
Your point is? Are you trying to tell me CO2 does not run out and Nitrogen does? This battle will be over well before one of us runs out of gas.
The wedges were A) not present in the stats and B) were not described properly in the second set of stats - so forgive me for thinking they werent there. :proud:
What happened to this?
It eloped to Mars with the Stoke event report :proud:
I may as well predict, dont think I have already:
GeForce to throw Worck around until it breaks.
Biatch Beater to make Hoof its biatch :proud:
Bit difficult to decide between Starstorm and Cosmic Thunder - Ill go for Starstorm since it has more angles of attack, and the fact Alex appears to have vanished lately.
Achilles to pit Wedge Devolution. Or something like that anyway.
will continue when Im less busy :proud:
and Joey, no pits remember? :proud:
What are those things just outside two of the arena walls then? Small dogs disguised cleverly as pits?
theyre plot holes!!!
Meh, Achilles will plot hole Wedge Devolution then. :proud:
pfff, Cosmic Thunder should be able to get under Starstorm
Ok guys, I haven€™t written for a while, so forgive me if the following isn€™t quite up to par.
The walls are still low, the pits are still out there.

GeForce speeds away a tad better than Worck does due to a combination of the superior speed and the superior motors it has compared to Worck. Worck though is no slouch either and with 13 mph the Envy-based vapour meets GeForce in the centre of the arena. The similar looking wedges try to get around each other for that one flip, and lets face it, give the nature of this arena one flip might be all it takes. With two 4wd wedges in the arena however, and two excellent drivers behind the controls, there€™s very little chance of either one of them gaining the upper hand in a quarrel like this. The initiative is taken by Worck. The low wedge comes in€¦ and€¦
CLANG!
The low wedge of Worck hits the slightly higher wedge of GeForce, Worck wins this battle, but the war is far from over! Worck gets underneath effectively and€¦
FLIP!
GeForce is forced on its back, and Andy looks annoyed. More annoyed than he should be, because we all now the quality of that srimech of him. Worck nudges GeForce for a possible further attack, when€¦
FLIP!
GeForce flies into the air and after a roll through the air comes down on its wheels. Worck is still in €œnudging€ position and thereby pretty much exposed to attack. Andy takes advantage immediately and GeForce rams the side of Worck, hard and relentless, and easily penetrates the side wedge protecting that side. Worck tries to drive away but the flipper of GeForce is gaster€¦ or is it?
Worck€™s wheels had some good grip left on the ground and it driving away from GeForce while being flipped makes the flip alot less effective. As a matter of fact Worck isn€™t flipped over at all, but this doesn€™t stop GeForce from being as offensive as it is. Andy€™s machine moves forwards for another attack on Worck€™s side-wedge. Front-wedge meets side-wedge, and again Andys torque is enough to penetrate said side-wedge. The fight got closer to the wall as it proceeded and Andy has a clever plan. In a burst of acceleration GeForce takes Worck to the nearest arena-wall and€¦
FLIPS!
Worck is put OOTA, now he€™s got 30 seconds before the judges count it out! Worck lies on its back with the flipper joint facing the arena wall, so Paul has a good chance I€™d say€¦
FLIP!
YES! Worck self-righted itself ONTO the wall and seemingly can drive back in€¦ but what€™s this? GeForce is waiting down the wall for Worck to drive on its wedge, and oddly vapours driving down a wall aren€™t among the better controlled vapours.
FLIP!
GeForce throws Worck into the air in a stylish 360, causing Worck to land on its wheels! From this position there isn€™t much of a chance for Worck to get back in mates, not now, and not 27 seconds later€¦

Well done AJ. *Goes off into the garage to work on a newer version WORCK called WORCKER and plot for revenge by wearing masses of hair gel after sticking my finger into the socket to keep my gear up, and use a meglomanic style laugh*
WOOOOOOOOOOOO GO GEFORCE
Bad luck Paul.
Paul, does WORCK stand for anything or does it just look better in all caps? :proud:
I think it just looks good in capitals, but Im actually now going to refer to WORCKER as WORCK-ER as if anyone does wish to give it an anacryon, call it What Ostriches Really Can Kill - Enormous Robots :proud:
But just call it WORCKER if you wish.
So Ripper is weak to ostriches? :P
Y€™know what? Two fight in two days, I must be in a good mood.

Fight 2
Wyfe Beater vs Hoof
(I discovered Aaron changed the name to Wyfe Beater after discovering Biatch to be censored. Hoof will fight sans skirts)
3€¦
2€¦
1€¦
Activate!
Hoof goes in head over heels, not bothered by either skirts or a weapon that needs time to spin up, and wedge rushes Wyfe Beater. Or at least, that€™s what Dave WISHES to do. Truth is, Aaron is an excellent driver and he manoeuvres his beater, a concept much spoken when first entered in this tournament, out of danger. Hoof knows how to manoeuvre as well, but finds itself in more and more danger as that weapon starts spinning faster and faster. Hoof rushes the front corner of Wyfe Beater effectively now, but not without being nudged by the vertical weapon. Both machines pull back in fear of each other€™s weapon, Dave loosing a bit of carbon fibre in the process. Hoof gives chase to the slightly slower opponent he is facing and this time he gets under the side. Wyfe Beater tries to wobble around in an attempt to scare Hoof away with its weapon, but Hoof shows Wyfe Beater some air before it comes this far.
FLIP!
The wheel set-up of Wyfe Beater shows its worth as the notorious machine lands safely on four wheels, ready to fight another day. Hoof is after the freshly landed Wyfe Beater, and Wyfe Beater turns around to welcome him. Dave didn€™t expect to be welcomed in such overwhelming way and responds too late when Wyfe Beater comes in on the attack.
CRASH!
Wyfe Beater crashes straight into Hoof€™s carbon fibre/Hardox wedge, sending pieces of carbon fibre flying but more important, sending Hoof flying away! The sloped shape of the wedge causes Hoof to move far rather then high, but the display is impressive nonetheless. A shaken Dave, highly displeased with the way his expensive flipper plate currently looks, retreats away from the again incoming Beater. Hoof catches a nice amount of distance before deciding to try its luck again. The classic wedgebot turns around, but Wyfe Beater still has a nice amount of momentum left in it and tries to get around Hoof to attack it€¦
CRASH!
Wyfe Beat crashes into the side of Hoof this time, and this time, Hoof DOES end up inverted! Time for some self-righting action I think, and so does Dave! Hoof quickly returns back on its wheels, and turns around to face the again incoming Wyfe Beater! Unable to dodge the attack, Hoof lines up its flipper€¦
CRASH!
FLIP!
Wyfe Beater inverted, Hoof swept away by the beater, what more can you wish for?! Hoof is only swept away again, rather than being inverted, but the frame took a hard blow nonetheless. So hard in fact, that Hoof now has a hard time moving forward! Omg, is this the end of Hoof? The judges seem to think so€¦

Fight 3
Wedge Devolution vs Achilles
3€¦
2€¦
1€¦
Activate!
And we€™re off to the tensest battles among the four quarter finals. And before I forget to mention it, this battle is actually a rematch of an MN-1 quarter final, in which today€™s contestants also managed to make it to the final 8. Back then Achilles was favorite (not by much though), but Wedge still managed to pull through with a powerful OOTA. Nowadays, Achilles received an update and Alex is out to get his revenge. Achilles clearly has the more aggressive intentions and it heads for a quick and nasty box rush against Wedge. Steve knows better than to let its boxy nemesis ram him and Wedge Devo swerves out of the way, out of danger. Achilles turns its butt around just as Wedge Devo tries to attack it from behind, and now the two vapours can be seen standing face-to-face€¦
CLANG!
The machines accelerated simultaneously, and with two wedges that low, a collision like this was bound to happen! Still, seeing two wedges ramming each other with neither getting under is a rare side, and Alex and Steve are relieved to see neither of their underbellies got penetrated. Wedge tries some fancy steering again, but Achilles is having none of it and drives away, getting lined up€¦ for another box rush! Achilles comes steaming in, rapidly, at Wedge€™s side, and Steve can€™t dodge this attack.
CLANG!
Achilles rams Wedge€™s side, and shuffles underneath the skirt! Wedge€™s 2 right wheels however manage to maintain some grip, giving Achilles a hard time pushing it around. Achilles tries to shove Wedge to the wall but finds too much resistance in doing so. Alex uses his backup plan€¦
FLIP!
Wedge Devo is thrown AGAINST the arena wall, inverted! Steve knows he€™s in trouble and self-rights swiftly, before Achilles can do more bad stuff. Wedge moves away from the arena wall because in this particular arena, anywhere near the wall is a bad place to be. Achilles awaits Wedge, but the slightly more controllable Wedge has a little ace up its sleeve. A tad to the left, a tad to the right, and Wedge finds itself near Achilles rear! Alex didn€™t anticipate this move and cannot stop Wedge from gettin€™ under and€¦
FLIP!
Another massive flip ladies and gentlemen, and now Achilles is the inverted one! Alex brings into play his nifty T-bar when Wedge attempt to bring into play its€¦ wedge :proud:. Just as Achilles is self righting it is nudged by the marching in Wedge. Achilles spins around like a mad top but with help of the T-bar he does manage to self right. The Greek warrior faces Wedge now who€™s only gotten a bit closer to the wall after that last nudge. Achilles heads for Wedge straight away, and like earlier, Wedge can€™t answer this attack. Achilles gets under€¦ the wall gets closer€¦ flip!
30€¦
Yes, the judges are counting! Wedge lies on its back, and its position isn€™t all that useful for getting back into the arena, but Steve gives it a try and self rights!
FLIP!
Nope, didn€™t work. Steve rams against the wall in an attempt to drive over it€¦

Fight 4
Starstorm 2 vs Cosmic Thunder 2
3€¦
2€¦
1€¦
Activate!
The battle has a quick start and immediately Cosmic Thunder is on Starstorm€™s heels on top speed. Starstorm however has enough speed and agility itself to prevent Cosmic Thunder to really hurt it with this first attack. Frank of course prefers the offensive approach to the defensive approach and lowers his dome and reverses. The omni-directional weapon technically gives Starstorm superior maneuverability in this matchup, and before anybody realizes it Starstorm dug itself underneath Cosmic Thunder€™s side. This looks promising€¦
FLIP!
Starstorm€™s flipper proves to be powerful, but much to Alex€™ delight Cosmic Thunder moves high rather than far, and flops down back onto its wheels, close to Startstorm. Frank smiles, Starstorm moves, and Cosmic Thunder gets penetrated€¦
FLIP!
Its like a total replay of the first flip, except for the fact that Cosmic Thunder IS inverted this time :proud:. Starstorm is getting the hang of it, moving closer to the wall with each flip. Frank struggling to throw Cosmic Thunder a long distance shows Starstorm isn€™t the most notorious OOTA€™er in this flipper-dominated tournament, then again, its the only flipper that can claim to be full bodied, which is something :proud:. Alex has had enough of it and moves away thanx to his invertible setup. Starstorm stays offensive, but Cosmic Thunder created quite some distance between itself and zeh Storm now and selfrights, turns around, and turns on the offensive itself now. The simple wedgebot drives at the less simple domebot, which in response lowers its skirts to an impressive 0 mm ground clearance€¦
CRASH!
Cosmic Thunder drives into those skirts JUST when they hit the ground, and the wedge bounces off. Cosmic Thunder comes back for some more while Starstorm tries to escape, but the latter€™s maneuverability clearly suffered by having those skirts lowered. Cosmic Thunder scrapes under again, and manages to get just a little bit of extra push in€¦
FLIP!
Alex seizes his chance and flips Starstorm, high AND far this time :proud:. Starstorm is on its back and has to self-right now in order to survive, which it, of course, does.
SELF-RIGHT!
Starstorm knocked itself back onto its wheels, but Cosmic Thunder is still trying to be a pain in the *ss. The wedgebot drives at Starstorm faster than Starstorm can lower its skirts€¦
FLIP!
OOTA!
Woohoo! Cosmic Thunder just threw Starstorm over the low fence and out of the ring!
30€¦
SELF-RIGHT!
YES! Against all odds Starstorm self-righted back into the arena! But of course, Alex participated on this after drawing experience from earlier fights in this arena. Cosmic Thunder has been awaiting its opponent€¦
FLIP!

Achilles is exactly the sort of robot to take out the beater, in my opinion...Achilles FTW.
As for the other one, it would depend on who was lower, but Ill say GeForce.
Predictions even though I got knocked out in Round One!
Wyfe Beater to beat Achilles.
GeForce to flip Cosmic Thunder into a different thread. :proud:
Predictions even though I got knocked out in Round Two!
I know that Achilles will be Wyfe Beaters biggest challenge so far, as the rubberised front flipper will be hell for that beater, and the angle of the wedge will mean that the beater will just stratch the surface.
And also, despite AJs more detailed stats, I reckon that maybe Cosmic Thunder has more in its favour, such as a shape that will annoy the hell of GeForces flipper, and also, it has simillar torque to WORCK, and I got underneath GeForce right at the start no issue, so Cosmic will get under each time, and because its the rear-hindged type, it will flip GeForce each time.
I think the final of this flipper orientated competition will be...
+2>ACHILLES vs. COSMIC THUNDER 2
Good luck everyone, especailly AJ, who I will beat in a 1-on-1 battle some day :proud:
