Lol Dave you wanting a rematch? :)
Sounds like a plan, better build something strong:uhoh:
Gary, fancy your chances at trying to take a bite out of Pillow Torque?... Just signed it up along with pain In The Asp!
Good fancy something to get the teeth into :)
Lol geoff I got no problem with pillow torque or pain in the asp :)
I have decided I am either coming home a champ in one piece or in a bin bag. Should probably be calling it hornet 3 with the changes since the original hornet 2 came along but then I have plans for a hornet 3 :)
4 places left once i have all 32 Ill take 4 reserves to keep the draw safe
I love the spread of weapons only 3 pneumatic flippers thou
Remember to pretty yourselves up too, your going to be on camera
our robots are always pretty :) - were on camera every event
I am sure webcam doesnt count. :P
I would like to go Craig but maybe next time. If your filming this I do offer my services for some basic video effects. Dont have all the time in the world to make massive amounts of CGI but ask me if you need anything. Menus opening/ closing. Spinning logos, what ever.
whats this being filmed for craig?
main tv?
cable?
dvd?
internet?
would be interesting to know...

need some help shifting the arena on the day of the event, Ive hurt the muscles across the shoulder blade
Volenteers?
I cant volunteer, but I can wish you the best of luck in getting it all working and hopefully beamed in our living rooms at some point :)
*is staying tuned for news of the host as MSN speculation reaches new and dazzling heights of utter ridiculousness*
Initial plans are for us to travel down on the Friday night and stay at a Travelodge so could be around on Saturday quite early to help out if needed
I will probably be travelling down overnight. So I should be able to help out first thing in the morning.
What time u want us to arrive at Magna?
Just summarised the groups of weapons and its looking like a nice mixture indeed:
Passive/Rambots - 12 (although Im sure Pillow Torque will have something to say about being described as passive!)
Flippers - 5
Electric lifters - 5
Horizontal/Full Body Spinners - 5
Vertical/Drum Spinners - 3
Crushers - 1
Axes - 1
This is assuming all the robots have the weapons I think they have. According to the website, the draw takes place tomorrow - Im looking forward to seeing what matches it throws up :)
Going to do the draw AWS style and change what i said originally about drivers,
people who have 2 robots will be seperated into 2 halves of the draw so you cant fight your own robot till the end
Drivers, you can have the same driver for both entries for those who have entered 2 robots if they clash later in the competition then another driver from any other team may drive the robot
Draw takes place tomorrow and will be posted at noon tomorrow with Host news
I hope i dont get drawn up against a spinner with savage, its going to be its first time out and will be untested and i dont really want to retire the robot after 10secs with a spinner. :p
i want hornet :) or a flipper.. did some work on the selfwrighter today for 360 :) the arm weighs 45grams lol and a second new more powerful motor should arrive friday.. Just need to order the gears now :)
(Message edited by mr_turbulence on December 14, 2008)
Dave as ever if I dont face you in the main comp and I am still running at the end (lol that will be the day!) then I am only too happy to go against 360
Sorry I couldnt wait til noon
The Draw is done
before I post who is fighting who let me just say how the draw was done, The draw was split in 2 parts
1st- robots were randomly drawn into an order 1-32
2nd- Robots were drawn into groups
Robots were split into 3 pots, double entries pot 1 and 3 and single entries in pot 2
Pot 2 was drawn into pot 1 and 3, 6 robots from pot 2 went into pot 1 and 6 into pot 3
Pot 2 was then discarded
Pot 1 was drawn of heats A,B,C, D
Pot 3 was drawn of heats E,F, G, H
Draw was witnessed by 3 people
complicated enough? Good
heats
A- Smash, Suprize, 360, Crumple Zone
B- Aftershock, Conundrum, Ironside, Pure Evil
C- Savage, Cylon, Beauty 3, Mr Happy
D- Kaizer, Kishar, Pillow Torque, Hornet
E- Mini mighty mouse, Ploughbot, Tiny Toon, Beauty 2
F- Holigan, Pain in the Asp, Tuff Luck 2, Drumroll
G- Tanto XP, Whirlpool, Dizzy Tilly, J.A.B.O.W 2
H- Terror Turtle, Dragon Strike, Prodigey Evo, Boom
heats A-D will form semi final 1

one robot from each heat will qualify for the semi finals and 2 robots from the semi finals will make the final
Best of luck to everyone for the championship
It is also my pleasure to announce and welcome our host Dominik Diamond, Dominik for those who dont recognize him check out his imdb.com page, Dominik is most remembered for games master on channel 4

Winners : Beauty 2 & Hooligan
Final
AfterShock Vs Hornet Vs Beauty 2 Vs Hooligan:)
Craig, Do you also know what channel the event will be filmed for?
Liam
Liam, all the matches are one on ones, ideal for me :)
Ive already answered that Liam
didnt realise they were 1 on 1s :)
if so, what happens say if your robot gets bashed so it cant be repaired and so cannot fight in its next one on one is that robot disqualified?
alex
As i said before its double elimination, this means you have a minimum of 2 fights
your first defeat will put you in the losers bracket, a second will send you home
if you cant continue to fight due to damage you forfeit the fight which counts as a loss
the whole championship is 1 on 1 in the last show there is time for 4 melees 1 middleweight melee and 3 heat loser melees 1st, 2nd, an 3rd round knocked out robots get a chance to save some face, the results of which will effect your final standings and next years rank
Here are my heat predictions:
A- Smash, Suprize, 360, Crumple Zone
Hmm... 360 or Crumple Zone, probably 360
B- Aftershock, Conundrum, Ironside, Pure Evil
Aftershock I guess
C- Savage, Cylon, Beauty 3, Mr Happy
Beauty 3
D- Kaizer, Kishar, Pillow Torque, Hornet
Dont know what Kaizer MK.3 will be like yet of course :) But I think this is very open and any of them could take it, my favourite is Hornet
E- Mini mighty mouse, Ploughbot, Tiny Toon, Beauty 2
Again very open... Ill take MMM or Beauty 2
F- Hooligan, Pain in the Asp, Tuff Luck 2, Drumroll
Either PITA or Drumroll me thinks, but I wouldnt rule out the other two either
G- Tanto XP, Whirlpool, Dizzy Tilly, J.A.B.O.W 2
Dizzy Tilly or Whirlpool
H- Terror Turtle, Dragon Strike, Prodigey Evo, Boom
Either of the spinners
Looks tobe a killer event Craig :)
do we have the rule 1 robot 1 driver ?
No John I said not a few days ago
sorry not keeping up lol
Gary, fancy your chances at trying to take a bite out of Pillow Torque?
Good prediction Geoff :)
Team Terminal Damages long-winded and overanalysed heat predictions:
Heat A
Smash, Suprize, 360, Crumple Zone
If 360 is fully-functional, its my top dog to win this heat. If it doesnt, my moneys on Alex to put that claw to good use and for Crumple Zone to progress.
Heat B
Aftershock, Conundrum, Ironside, Pure Evil
While an OOTA doesnt guarantee a win, it does help add to the points tally, therefore Aftershock should be able to chalk up a lot of points and progress. If not, my support goes to the drums and for Conundrum to take it (although Ive not yet seen Pure Evil in action)
Heat C
Savage, Cylon, Beauty 3, Mr Happy
Again, Beauty 3 is likely to gain more points for repeated OOTAs and its definetly the strongest in this heat. Yet to see Savage in action, but its specs sound impressive so if it can match those and be effective, its my second pick.
Heat D
Kaizer, Kishar, Pillow Torque, Hornet
A very tough heat. Two powerful spinners and a tough-as rambot. Naturally Im going to give it my best shot to get through, but Kaizer will have to stand up to a lot of punishment and if I dont make it through then I would love nothing more than for Hornet to progress and leave a trail of utter destruction in its wake :proud:
Heat E
Mini Mighty Mouse, Ploughbot, Tiny Toon, Beauty 2
Lets be honest. Beauty 2 is a firm favourite although with the larger arena, people fighting the EuroTagUK champ wont be out of the fight quite as quickly as usual. However Mini Mighty Mouse just keeps on going and going and in Ploughbot and Tiny Toon there are two well-armoured tough nuts of robots so it could well be a very close heat.
Heat F
Hooligan, Pain in the Asp, Tuff Luck 2, Drumroll
Mon the Drumroll!! :proud:
Pain In The Asp will be my biggest obstacle although my aim is to hopefully remove at least one of those nice red wheels! Tuff Luck 2 I have fought before and my only hope is we dont get stuck on each other twice - again! Hooligan is relatively new but by no means an underdog; however I look forward to adding it to my list of robots defeated :)
Heat G
Tanto XP, Whirlpool, Dizzy Tilly, J.A.B.O.W 2
Unknown quantities in Tanto XP and J.A.B.O.W 2, although Im assuming both are rambots therefore should be able to pick up points pushing people outside the red line. Whirlpool is seasoned and reliable though so its my top pick.
Heat H
Terror Turtle, Dragonstrike, Prodigy Evo, BOOM
Not sure on specs of Terror Turtle. Disc-to-disc of Dragonstrike and Prodigy Evo could make for exciting viewing. BOOM is well armoured and should survive most damage from Dragonstrike and Prodigy Evo but my money is on one of the spinners to go through - cant decide which one will prevail though.
I think this competition is going to be fantastic! Lots of great matches to take place, hopefully compelling enough to encourage one of the TV companies to support it.
