Damn straight ! You have to be dedicated to wanna build something thats gonna get smashed :)
Still looking for a lift if anyone can help
Also, What are the show times ?
11am is the first show on saturday.
i got you phone message Dave, but you didnt leave a number :) so i cant phone you back.
dont worry about being a bit late.
Im trying to find a price list for local buses. I know there are many buses from wrexham to mold, but have not yet got the times and costs.
Oops  So Ill be a bit late for the first one. Bugger.
james, let us have details about arrival etc... when you can, as i need to make some plans. see you on sat.
ok guys,
Ideally you would be arriving around 9am, to 9.30am on the Saturday. We want as much time as possible for a calm, relaxed setup. Techchecks will be as normal, as early as possible, and we are trying something different for transmitter control, with the normal method ready in case it doesnt work.
We have had some small issues with the arena and its transport to the venue, so last minute modifications (extensive ones!) have me super busy right now. I think I may well be rushing right up to the show starting, so please bear with me as this last minute crisis needs solving :) Everything will be fine for the show, but its a little stressful right now.
Dave, the bus from Wrexham to Mold goes every hour, with the bus station in Wrexham 5 minutes walk from the train station. Sunday is not so good, I dont know anymore than that though.
Chicken button is postponed to a future event.
um..... thats about it I think. You know where, you know when, food is provide.....
any question Ill answer here tommorrow night (late!) or phone me if urgent.
Thanks for your support guys, I just hope Ive enough energy left from the arena issues to enjoy this event, but Im sure everyone else will, so thats ok with me.
Good luck James!!! :proud:
9!!!! ok will take the faster (well more reliable car), try my best to be there for 9 ish.
dont rush too much Ed, Id rather you had a relaxed day that rush to be there early.
To get there by 9 Id have to leave tonight, the earliest trains I can get get me there at 10
Having last minute problems with HA; been countersinking the armour mounting holes, and now I cant get 2 of the screws back in!
Plus the chassis is rather warped as well, so I need to put in additional brackets, whicch, without the use of drill taps, is a pain.
Ill be there and fighting one way or another
Were out.
Just found out whilst loading the car that we have a couple of bits of robot missing. We leant our robot to a local engineering firm for a royal visit and the bottom polycarb/arolan have gone. I never thought to look for them until we needed them. f$%^*$$&- !£$%^
We have a room booked at the Travel Lodge for tonight tomorrow, cost £78 if anybody wants it. Any cash would be nice but we lose the money as its a saver room with no cancellations allowed.
Sorry James

john, wed love to have your feathers come along.
i need sleep now, see you all in the morning, hopefully :)
Finaly got home at 10PM!... North Wales seems a hell of a long way from East Sussex!
A big well done has to go James and Co. for what, after one or two early problems, turned out to be a very good event. We were all very well looked after with what seemed to be an endless supply of rolls, sandwhiches, crisps & other snacks!(Never mind slightly overweight rebots, we were in real danger of ending up with some slightly overweight roboteers!!)
Well done to Pete Lale and Team Tilly for the outstanding team award, to Little Hitter for a well deserved victory in the feathers and (At the risk of being accused of blowing ones own trumpet) to Scorpion in the heavies!
So, James, when are you doing the next one??!!

Echo to what Geoff said - a great event. For our first proper combat event, it didnt go too badly. We had intermittent electrical problems with all three bots throughout the weekend but managed to keep them going for the final melee at the end.
Congrats to Little Hitter for winning the feather award and for proving to me that 2mm ali chequer plate isnt strong enough to take axe blows and not deform (had an inkling that might happen, but strongly hoped it wouldnt :)). And well done to Scorpion too for taking the heavyweight prize.
Many thanks to James Baker for putting on the event (and at a location that was reasonbly near for us :)) Hope youre able to put on another one sometime in the future.
Also to quickly thank Shane for the stainless and ali bits you gave me for free - most likely to be used to remake Kaizers chassis (along with some HDPE, which, after seeing it on Hells Angel and seeing how cheap it is, is my new favourite material )
Pics and videos online hopefully later on tonight

Well done James,
A few problems at the start granted, but welcome to world of events once again !!!
Turned out to be a successfull event in the end, it was nice just being a roboteer for a change although was just as tied when i got home.... probably mostly due to the miles id driven and the party on the saturday night.
Congratulations on raising as much money for the new school roof :)
John
Hi all.
Good event james, shame I missed that final melee. The Problem: a loose wire, came out of the terminal block. Bugger.
Thanks for sorting out lifts to my accom. and to Wrexam station, really appreciated it.
Geoff: you got home at 10, I got in my front door at 10:30. God I hate public transport :P
Anyone got any vids from the second day at all, particularly the featherweight melee at the end?
My teammates got footage but its gonna be two weeks before I can get it off him and Im putting together a compilation vid jst now, and Im too impatient to hold off for two weeks :)
Any stuff would be appreciated
Cheers
