Ach, missed it again - thanks for the video files, Kane, its the only way Im catching it. And I *really* want to see the ghetto blaster again, it was a work of considerable genius. Absolutely gutting that it went flat between set-up and performance. :sad: -- Did we ever work out what happened, there?
Hi Jonathan - I believe it happened where we had removed the galvanised coating or something from the spoke and it rusted over night in the dampness - changing the resistance and therefore the note - Id got them all to within a hertz the night before!

Did we not re-calibrate it on the day ? I honestly cant remember now but I do have a vauge memory of somone using a scope for somthing.
Should have used the multiplyier fishing reel instead of the fixed spool, that has a better gear ratio and would have given more power to pull the toaster smoothly.
Either that or we complain to the microwave manufacturer for using such pathetic little motors to drive the turntables. A bosch GPA 750 would be a far better alternative. :)

Thanks for the downloads - I had a sound problem on your episode where sound occasionally dropped during the 1st 5 mins or so (must have been the regional BBC2 as the prog before was ok).
Ive been offline for nearly a month so havnt been able to comment - was Lambert grinning from behind that wooden pallet? The man has no finesse at all - squish an orange and you get squished orange not freshly squished orange juice LOL

ive found they are quite high quality and my pc badly struggles to play them, could be the same for you school pcs

The problems didnt come from the ones that Kane has kindly put up for us but from my Sky+ recording on that particular episode. For example it told me that Ian Inglis was a (blank) and Steph was a (blank) - its only through Kanes recordings that I found out what they actually do for a living :)

You may not be aware but Mechaniables is currently showing on UKTV Documentries this week at 2100 each evening and repeated on Sunday 3rd Dec from 1900. You best check the times for your selves.

Its most likely to crop up on BBC Canada if you have digital or it may get a graveyard slot on CBC.

It is intresting to note that it is a different edit for the UKTV Docs, which I think improves the shows, they do not highlite the destruction and family frictions so much, and concentrate more on the builds. Still the same basic show.

see mike lambert the other night on it again, i love waching the husbands get a roastin for cutting bits of their houses ! i got it in the neck enough when i flipped our old washing mashine, i had forgotten to take off the door and that hit the ceiling and smashed !
