Whirligig 3.0? Thats just cheating!
Tactics: If Alex agrres, I would like to gang up with him and attack the other 2 robots. I feel that with Slammers interchangable weaponry and Manic Monsoons awesome pushing power, nothing will get in our way.
OK agreed.
Not too worried about any of them, though I do believe that Manic Monsoonll be a stalemate. Just slide underneath anyone in the way, shoving and hitting them with the bar.
Like I said already, stay away from Manic Monsoon.
What is Battle Rat like?
Tactics,
Growling Storms claw is too high of the ground to get a successful clamp onto what is in theory 5mm of titanium armour. My tactics will be to aim for that jaw and try to slice it away with a few fires. If thinks get stickly, slam into top gear and run for it.

Heres Battlerat. Good Armor, Nightmare was able to scrape it a bit, but couldnt do much other than break the lifting plate in half. It is slow though, and Overkill (granted one of the lowest wedges) could get under the front still, as low as it may look.
Hey, Rich, I reworked VGers stats just a tid-bit. (profile)
The rear is now just one big wedge. I think thisll work out better for it. Im going to adjust it a tid-bit more by making the end a hinged wedge too. (The purple shit is just some ali armor that comes on and off, dont mind it)
Ill have a big nifty stats page with a brief explanation of what any of that shit does, and tons of pictures. But its onto the next thing at the moment.
Sorry Nick, but as with Dave, I dont think I should allow changes in the stats youve already given.
Welcome to VFT6! In the first heat, 17th seed Psyclone caused a shock by beating the VFT5 champ The Disc 4 in the heat final, and is now our first semifinalist! Will it become the new champion, or perhaps the winner of Heat B will take the title!
Third seed Manic Monsoon came close to doing just that in VFT5 - its high power ramming defeated Forcepower 3.0, Achilles, Annoying Box Rush and SD IV, before The Disc 2 successfully disabled its arm and overturned it with its arm propping it up in the grand final! But it beat Killotine Evo in the playoff, and took third place! Manic Monsoon is still a box-wedge with a lifting arm, running at an impressive speed of 28mph, but while its Hardox armour has been reduced to 5mm thickness, it uses new motors to double its horsepower to 60! It may have more power behind it, but will its control difficulty make storm clouds gather over its hopes in the tournament?
Nineteenth seed Whirligig 4.0 was in the top 8 of VFT4, but didnt get so far in VFT5, when Annoying Box Rush sent it down the pit in the heat final. This new evolution is a shuffler, to give it stability, traction and pushing power, but its still an invertable ring spinner! And its more powerful than before, with a 33.72kg spinning shell with 9 blades, producing 183kJ to annihilate anyone that comes too close! The titanium armour is nearly 2cm thick, and Whirligig is fairly fast at 15mph, but having camshafts lowers its manouverability!
Battle Rat, the only real robot in this heat, is an American battlebot - its competed in three BB tournaments but only finished in the top 16, beaten by such veterans as Tazbot, Nightmare and Overkill! The Rat is a low wedge with a lifter attached to either side, and able to move through 360 degrees to lift opponents and selfright Battle Rat! However, the lifter can be disabled with a powerful spinner hit, as it was against Nightmare, and if the control on it fails, as it did against Overkill, Battle Rat could be sent rolling over and over and unable to do much to any attackers!
Cholera may not be able to give robotic opponents disease, but the drivers still might turn blue and feel unable to hold certain bodily wastes in when they see the jaws on this Big Nipper-like robot, which moves through 180 degrees to carry opponents when they are gripped, and help Cholera when its being pinned! The 6mm titanium armour will withstand attacks well, but with a 2mm ground clearance, Cholera isnt flipper proof!
Growling Storm 2.5 is an invertable wedge, which has a strip at the end to get under most opponents, aided by the 6 wheel pushing power! But the real weaponry is the Growler-style jaw that works either way up and will have stormy consquences for any opponent that wanders into it! But at 12mph, Growling Storm 2.5 isnt the fastest robot around, and while it has skirts at the sides, theres a 6mm ground clearance behind them for any low flipper!
National Speed Limit Applies (or NSA for short) could well be breaking the speed limit, as it has a top velocity of 60mph! This isnt used much, however - its either 24mph for fighting or 10mph for pushing. NSA is a wedge, armed with a low lifting scoop and a nitrogen powered guillotine (the blade can be swapped for two axe heads or a flipper blade) that will hit you at 100mph - ouch! It also comes with a vacuum to hold itself to the floor when the guillotine is fired, otherwise it would bounce! However, NSA may have trouble in defence, with comparatively thin armour, and a high ground clearance!
Powerpoint Reaches Pressurepoint should find it easy to release any pressure on its opponents - its a low square cuboid with an 18kg spinning bar on top, which releases 83kJ, able to cut through up to a cm of titanium! It sounds like Hazard from Battlebots, and like Hazard it has skirts to counteract flippers, but unlike Hazard it has a srimech, in the form of two low pressure arms that can work when the blade stops! PRP isnt fast at 9.6mph, but it claims to be the best of everything in a small package - could it soon be showing us a slideshow of all the opponents its torn apart?
And Slammer IV has been in one previous VFT - VFT4, where despite somersaulting and causing damage, NSBFR killed its exposed wheels and sent it out in Round 1! Slammer IV has fixed the exposed wheel problem, but it still resembles a flattened Pussycat or expanded S6 Wild Thing, except it has a flipping plate on the top and bottom to flip itself around and either slam or escape from opponents! It still has an arsenal of interchangable weaponry fitted at the front - a vertical or horizontal hydraulic claw, static axe blades used when the flippers fire, a vertical or horizontal flywheel, a wedge, a lance and gripping mandibles!
In our first fight, Manic Monsoon, Cholera, Powerpoint Reaches Pressurepoint and Slammer IV (using a wedge)!
3, 2, 1 - ACTIVATE!
Manic Monsoon, Powerpoint Reaches Pressurepoint and Slammer IV all immediately went for Cholera, who was at a loss for what to do until MM reached it and started taking it towards the wall! When they got there, Cholera was knocked onto MMs side, allowing Slammer IV to catch up, get its wedge underneath, then throw Cholera backwards towards PRP, who took advantage by using its blade which ripped a gash in Choleras side! MM was again first to reach Cholera, then rush it into the arena disc! Slammer IV was glanced by PRP as it followed, leaving a side wound! Once it had recovered from the spinning, Slammer IV headed for Cholera as it flew from the force of the disc, but as it aimed for the sides, Cholera managed to slip under Slammer IVs side and snap its pincers on the bottom flipper! Slammer IV fired the flipper as this happened, dragging Cholera over onto its side as it flew! Both robots were left with their wheels off the ground and unable to move! MM attacked to try and free Slammer IV, just missing PRP and taking the other two into the corner, and overturning them! Slammer IV now had its wheels on the ground, and the inverted Cholera was on top of it! It began taking Cholera towards the pit release, but PRP caught it again and opened the gap in its side! Its titanium chassis bent but still holding up, Slammer IV spun around for a moment, as Cholera released its grip and used its arm to get off its body! But Slammer IV intercepted it and shoved with its wedge, into the pit release! MM and PRP watched as Cholera was taken to the pit, and descended out of the fight!
Once that was done, Slammer IV headed towards PRP, while Manic Monsoon backed up, then rammed the spinner hard while raising its lifting arm to try and tip it over! MM was sent into a vortex by the collision, and its arm was buckled and immobilised, but it had come up under the blade and tilted PRP! PRP skimmed a short distance from the shove, almost striking Slammer IV in the face, but Slammer IV reversed and tried to attack before PRP fell back to the floor! It failed to do so, but could still come under the blade and fire its flipper! The blade tore into the titanium plated wedge, but as Slammer IV tumbled to one side, PRPs blade hit the floor and it bounced! MM followed it, as Slammer IV didnt seem to be moving! As PRP began stabilising, MM was able to get one side of its wedge underneath as it was tilting, and start running it towards the pit release! But as they ran, PRP fell off the wedge! Spinning up the blade, it headed straight for Slammer IV, who had started to twitch! The blade hit home on Slammer IV and propelled it into the wall just as MM rammed PRP from behind and shifted it while being spun off itself! There was now no life left in the torn Slammer IV, who was counted out as MM and PRP avoided each other.
CEASE!
Cholera and Slammer IV are eliminated!
MANIC MONSOON AND POWERPOINT REACHES PRESSUREPOINT GO THROUGH TO ROUND 2!
Following them into Round 2 will be two of the following - Whirligig 4.0, Battle Rat, Growling Storm 2.5 and National Speed Limit Applies!
3, 2, 1 - ACTIVATE!
Whirligig 4.0 spun up its ring and headed for Battle Rat, who waited for it, while Growling Storm 2.5 and NSA headed for each other! Battle Rat tried to turn its lifter into Whirligig 4.0, who shuffled around it. Battle Rat kept turning, but with its superior speed, Whirligig 4.0 managed to get round to the sides and strike! One side of the lifter was torn away from the robot, and tears were made in the armour! Mainly unaffected by the impact, the 19th seed followed Battle Rat as it spun and hit it again on the right before it could recover, making an even bigger dent! This time, Battle Rat came round just before Whirligig 4.0 reached it, slipped its plate underneath and lifted! But the lifter was weakened and didnt tilt the spinner before it was dented and Battle Rat spun away again! Meanwhile, Growling Storm 2.5 had tried to use its jaw on NSA, who had sped up, escaped and aimed to bring the guillotine down on its jaw, but missed! The guillotine came down and embedded itself in the arena floor! It was the perfect target for Growling Storm to grab, and it did, but it couldnt pull while the guillotine was stuck! NSA eventually freed itself, and with its vacuum still on, it could retract the guillotine and take Growling Storm off the ground with it! At this point, Battle Rat hit NSA after its third blow from Whirligig 4.0, but that didnt affect Daves robot much!
While Whirligig 4.0 continued chasing Battle Rat, NSA began taking Growling Storm 2.5 towards the pit release, and Growling Storm wisely opened its jaw to free itself, then immediately reversed into NSAs side and closed it! Now NSA was trapped, as Growling Storm 2.5 used its superior power to drag it into the pit release, then reverse and dump it in the pit! Growling Storm 2.5 then headed towards Battle Rat, who in its absence had taken two more punishing hits from Whirligig 4.0, leaving its armour dented and one panel peeling a little, but it was still alive! Happy to help, Growling Storm 2.5 ran round Battle Rat, who ran into its side but couldnt get past the skirts, while Whirligig 4.0 was able to hit it in the rear! As Battle Rat flew, both Vapourbots ran after it, Whirligig 4.0 getting there first and sending Battle Rat into the wall while opening the panel some more! Growling Storm was unable to get past Whirligig to attack Battle Rat itself, so the 19th seed followed the American as it went for the pit release! Whirligig 4.0 caught up as it was in the corner, and Battle Rat tried to use its lifter again, but this time it was bent and wouldnt go under Whirligig at all, only hit the shell and let it be spun off again! Now Growling Storm 2.5 could take the oppotunity to attack, and grab the lifter where it was detached, then run Battle Rat into the pit while it was still open!
CEASE!
Battle Rat and National Speed Limit Applies are eliminated!
WHIRLIGIG 4.0 AND GROWLING STORM 2.5 GO THROUGH TO ROUND 2!
Heat B, Round 2:
Manic Monsoon (3) vs Growling Storm 2.5
Whirligig 4.0 (19) vs Powerpoint Reaches Pressurepoint
Wooty fights. :)
Growling Storm 2.5s Tactics:
My one real good chance is to go for the 1cm ground clearance of the rear of Manic Monsoon and either grab it with the jaw, or the wedge, and bring it to the pit. Or, get a quick side-on shove when its near the pit and send it down that way. That hopefully shouldnt be too much of a problem.
Hmmmm.... what to do?
I think, if I tr and keep one skirt facing them at all times, with our supeior manouvreability, then theyll hopefully just skide up it and onto the wedge. If it gets broke then well use the opposite side, hitting them and beating them until they break.
quote:
Sorry Nick, but as with Dave, I dont think I should allow changes in the stats youve already given.
Unless youd already written a fight the other way, I intend on pushing this past your red tape. My changes dont alter the robot stats at all, just the way the robot looks basically. There was a roughly equal amount of weight gain and loss.
HEAT B
ROUND 2
1) Growling Storm 2.5 VS Monsoons Back (3)
The seed to outpush the FRW7 bronze medallist and dump it down that ol hole
2) Powerpoint Reaches Pressure VS WHIRLIGIG 4.0 (19)
Simple tictacs here: rev up, get around the sides with my higher top speed (Im twice as fast as PRP according to its stats) and basically shock it to death with the awesome KJage produced per blow :proud:
Tactics: I will aim to get underneath Growling Storms 6mm side ground clearance and pit it.
I suppose I can allow the wedge change then, Nick.
In that case, to be fair, what was the change you were going to make to Black Chalkie Beard then, Dave, so I know whether or not I could approve it?
Daniel, Growling Storm 2.5 actually has skirts - it says in weaknesses high ground clearance under skirts.
Indeed, but it does not say where the skirts are. It could be that the skirts are on the back of the robot. Nevertheless, I will aim to get my lifter underneath the skirts and do some outpushing.
Heat B now continues, with third seed Manic Monsoon, having repaired the damaged arm, going after newcomer Growling Storm 2.5!
3, 2, 1 - ACTIVATE!
As both robots left their squares and came into the centre of the arena, Growling Storm 2.5 tried to slip past Manic Monsoon to reach the rear, but MM was too fast and came into Growling Storms side! Growling Storm 2.5 fought against the shove, but MM was more powerful, and shoved it around into the wall where it could pin its opponent and get past the side skirt! The third seed then lifted its victim up against the wall and backed off, leaving it stranded - or at least, only for a moment, before Growling Storm managed to rev its wheels against the wall and slip back down! But MM charged full on as this was happening, so forcefully that Growling Storm 2.5 tumbled to one side! Its front now facing MM, it charged towards the side, but MM did a fast swerve which caused a head on impact instead! Both robots heaved, until MMs 60HP won out and it carried Growling Storm 2.5 onto the unopened pit! Again, Growling Storm was knocked sideways by the forceful collision with the wall, but its front remained balanced on MMs side, keeping its wheels off the ground! A moment later, MM had turned, but this caused Growling Storm 2.5 to slip off and land sideways on to MMs side! Before Growling Storm could turn and use its wedge, MM had run in a straight line to the pit release, and Growling Storm 2.5 chased it with its jaws! But by the time it caught up, MMs unskirted rear was out of reach and the third seed had it pinned against the wall again! Once the low wedge was past the skirts and the lifting arm was lifting it, Growling Storm 2.5 was helpless to prevent Manic Monsoon carrying it to the opened pit!
CEASE!
MANIC MONSOON GOES THROUGH TO THE HEAT FINAL!
Two powerful spinners now meet - Whirligig 4.0 and Powerpoint Reaches Pressurepoint! On paper, Whirligigs spinner is more powerful, but you cant count on things like that in this sport!
3, 2, 1 - ACTIVATE!
Whirligig 4.0 remained where it was to spin up, but Powerpoint Reaches Pressurepoint came out while spinning up to try and catch Whirligig on its front skirt! Whirligig 4.0 moved before it got there and went for the sides, but PRP also turned, so the 19th seed went up a corner, hitting the skirts while being too low for the blade! The skirts were now parted slightly at the corner, and PRP skimmed a short distance! It came rushing back, but Whirligig 4.0 rushed faster and took it across the side, leaving a scar along the right skirt! It reversed to hit again, but PRP turned to face it and there was another corner hit as both turned, widening the gap between the two skirts! PRP now spun into the wall, its blade not touching thanks to the skirts, and Whirligig 4.0 shuffled into the left side to cause another injury! Bouncing off, PRP came front on to Whirligig 4.0 and while it didnt go up the wedge enough to hit the blade, it was knocked into the wall so the spinner was slowed! Accelerating, PRP put the front wedge to use again, and Whirligig went further up it before deflecting off, but it still didnt go high enough to reach the blade!
Distancing itself from PRP to spin up, Whirligig 4.0 came back and evaded the next attempt to catch it on the front, so it could tear into the right side skirt again! It reversed as PRP turned, going back into the side, piercing the skirt with its blades and knocking PRP against the wall! The next impact between the two was another to the wounded corner, which caused both skirts to start peeling away! Knocked backwards, PRP quickly came back, only for Whirligig 4.0 to get its blades into the corner and reach the 3mm titanium underneath, causing a dent and a scratch! PRP now reversed as Whirligig 4.0 chased it, but got itself between PRP and the wall! PRP rammed hard, but Whirligig 4.0 dodged to strike the corner again to dent the titanium even more, and spin PRP back into the wall, so it could reverse, pierce the titanium and tear the foam filled wheel within!
PRP reversed again, turning towards the pit release to try and keep ahead of Whirligig 4.0, but the 19th seed still caught up before they got there! PRP turned around to use its rear, but this only allowed Whirligig to hit it in the left skirt! It was able to turn after the hit, back up, and ram hard, but again Whirligig 4.0 remained clear of the blade and deflected off, spinning PRP around so it could hit the left skirt, but PRP dodged so it hit a rear corner! Turning it around again, the 19th seed ran along the left skirt and pierced it! PRP reversed into the pit release, but Whirligig 4.0 quickly caught it and hit the damaged armour at the front again, the powerful spinner force causing internal damage that slowed PRP down, and left it finding difficulty in getting out of the corner! Whirligig 4.0 happily whacked it in the left side, damaging the exposed armour there, then in the corner again as it spun around, then in turn the right side, where the titanium was also pierced! One more hit along the right killed Powerpoint Reaches Pressurepoint, its blade slowing to a stop as it lay motionless in the corner!
CEASE!
WHIRLIGIG 4.0 GOES THROUGH TO THE HEAT FINAL!
Heat B Final:
Manic Monsoon (3) vs Whirligig 4.0 (19)
ForceP...I mean Manic Monsoon to charge Whirly into those walls and down the pit.
HEAT B
ROUND 3
Monsoons Back (3) VS WHIRLIGIG 4.0 (19)
...eep. :S
Rammers aint a favourite of Whirlys, as Im sure many of you know. However, one thing I do have over Monsoon is greater control. Therefore, my main tactic is to try and dodge the No.3 seeds attacks until I can get the shell up to speed. Then, itll simply be a case of charging right for it and keeping that up until I can manage another shock to death KO.
Wootiful stuff thus far, Mr Southworth :proud:
Heat A had an all seeds heat final, and now so does Heat B (a far cry from VFT4, where there was just one all-seeds heat final and just four seeds in the semis!) Will Manic Monsoon or Whirligig 4.0 join Psyclone in the semifinal?
3, 2, 1 - ACTIVATE!
Manic Monsoon became a blur as it raced to catch Whirligig 4.0 before it spun up, managing to catch it as it dodged, but the shell was spinning when it made contact and was enough to knock MM away, into the wall! But MM reversed back into the 19th seed and was able to hit it again, be spun back into the wall, but still slow the shell! It reversed and hit Whirligig 4.0 again, but the spinner had moved some distance away and had got spinning, sending MM reeling in the third hit! Not backing down, the third seed backed up, but Whirligig 4.0 came shuffling towards it, so it raced to meet it! Whirligig 4.0 was knocked by the impact, while MM flew away again with a scratch in its Hardox front! It reversed towards Whirligig again and went skimming once again, but was able to reverse again and slow the shell some more, then again! Not spun away such a distance with the third hit, it swerved around and brought its wedge under Whirligig 4.0 - the shell was spinning up and MM was knocked a little again, but was soon back on track, with Whirligig 4.0s ring slowed again! The wedge came underneath, MM lifted Whirligig 4.0s camshafts off the ground, and carried it to the pit release! It pinned it against the release for a while, but this meant that when it went for the pit, it closed before it got there! MM then tried to tilt Whirligig 4.0 against the wall around the pit, but the 19th seeds high diameter meant this was a struggle! Eventually Manic Monsoon managed it, then raced into the pit release, bouncing off the wall as it hit and Whirligig 4.0 toppled away before it could roll or slide off the wall! Rather bruised but still functional, Manic Monsoon was through to the semis again!
CEASE!
MANIC MONSOON GOES THROUGH TO THE SEMIFINALS!
Next time on VFT6, fifth seed Tempest Evil-er-ution will play survival of the fittest with Bender, Hacked Off Ha-ka and M.O.E!
And 21st seed Warhead will try to blow up 2Blue, Iron Awe 3 and Not Another Pushover 2!
For anyone who hasnt seen Iron Awe 3, its not like previous versions - its a Spawn Again like robot with a rear hinged flipper (no axe), 6mm Hardox armour and skirts on the sides (though Im not sure about the rear).
Not Another Pushover 2s Tactics:
Quickly pit either 2Blue or Iron Awe 3 while Warhead takes care of the other, if it hasnt then I shall pit the machine that I have yet to pit (2Blue or Iron Awe 3), I should be able to get this done successfully. :)
Hmm... I think this is the one Frank wanted to gang up on... why not. If I go for the most axe vulnerable one, and pin it, Tempest can either beat the living bejeebers out of it, or hit the other one, whilst I ram the pinned one around. If its all going pants, Ill axe whoever I can get, including Frank.
Ill get you one day, Mr Monsoon! Mark my words - vengeance shall be mine! Ahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaa! :proud:
HEAT C
ROUND 2
1) Bender VS Hacked Off Ha-ka VS MOE VS Tempest Evil-er-oution (5)
Ill pick Bender to take a hammering and MOE to get a wheel or two ripped apart :proud:
2) 2Blue VS Iron Awe 3 VS Not Another Pushover 2 VS Warhead (21)
2Blue to be pitted by Mr McDonald and perhaps Warhead to narrowly KO Iron Awe
Keep up the good work, Richie :proud:
Matty, IIRC, Bender is an FBS while MOE has a bar spinner, so it might be safer for you to go after MOE while I attack Bender. I dont know what happens if an axe hits a spinning FBS, but I dont think it would be pretty for the axe.
Well, Ill keep everyones way & quickly go on the attack when everyone least expects it
Thanks, Steven! Hopefully this will be good enough for everyone!
Welcome to VFT5, where two heats have been completed, and seen rammer/lifter Manic Monsoon and spinner Psyclone into the semifinals! Will a different kind of robot win Heat C?
Fifth seed Tempest Evil-er-ution reached the top 8 of VFT5, using its powerful spinner and bouncing ability to beat Forklift, Gigavirus and TSC before WX 5.0 managed to slow it down and send it into the pit! Tempests basic design hasnt evolved since then - its still an invertable ring spinner which bounces off things it hits to avoid being pushed - but its armour has improved, and it also has interchangable teeth! Theres 2cm long cutting teeth, basic 6cm teeth, 15.5cm teeth for a long reach, and low 25cm teeth to reach exposed wheels! The maximum amount of energy released is 125KJ, so anyone caught in the Tempest could well be sunk!
Twenty-first seed Warhead has been in three VFTs so far with a variety of progression - Round 2 in VFT3, Round 1 in VFT4 and the heat final in VFT5, where Hannibal chomped and pitted it despite taking a hammering! This real robot made by the Razer team for Battlebots, is a strange beast - a scorpion tail, wings to selfright, and a moveable spinning dome at the front that generates a lot of power as it spins, so much that Warhead can sometimes go out of control! But we can expect to see some entertaining victory spins if it wins!
2Blue is a low wedge with a wedge at the rear, and on each wedge is a CO2 powered flipper, and a rollbar to aid selfrighting! Using tracks, this robot has a weight advantage and supreme traction, but its not particularly quick at 12mph! It also has a high ground clearance at the sides and relatively thin 3mm titanium armour - could 2Blue go out 2soon?
Bender is not the amusingly nasty robot from Futurama (imagine how hed do in VFT!) but a octagonal robot - it has a horizontal saw blade on top, which will hopefully bend armour it comes into contact with! It has a wedge at the back which works to move the saw about, but Bender has no srimech and exposed wheels, so it could be bent out of shape!
Hacked Off Ha-Ka, an invertable box wedge robot, aims to show opponents how hacked off it can get with a 6.5kg Mortis style axe, that hits with a force of 4.5 tonnes and can also selfright the robot! A titanium strip on the front wedge helps it get under low robots, and its manouverable to reach with the axe, but its pushing power is nothing special, and it has no skirts, so a fast flipper could catch it out!
Iron Awe 3 is quite different from its predecessors, in that it doesnt have an axe! Instead, its a yellow Spawn Again-like robot with a powerful rear hinged flipper! Its pretty tough, with 6mm Hardox armour and skirts on the sides to repel flippers! The last version of Iron Awe went out in Round 1of VFT5, taken apart by Hannibal and Warhead - will this design change help, or will Iron Awe 3 just be melted down?
Marvel Of Engineering has entered VFT4, where it made it to Round 2 and a close tussle with Voltronic, who eventually pitted it and got revenge for a defeat in Battlebots! MOE is still a invertable robot with a horizontal spinning blade at the front that works either way up and has shown it can deal impressive damage to such robots as Pyramidroid, The Matador and Stealth Terminator (well, when the blade was working for the last one)! But its not such a great pusher and its four wheels are exposed - will MOE be a marvel, or malfunction, or be maniacally mashed?
And Not Another Pushover 2 also appeared in VFT4, but didnt last long - former champ Son Of Ripper 2 flipped it around and confined it to the pit! But this robot has made it clear that it wont be another pushover - its still a Rammstein-like invertable box with six wheel drive for high quality traction and power, a low wedge at the front and an inverted one at the back for if its flipped! But its improved its armour, which is now 7mm titanium, and its speed has increased to a speedy 20mph! Not Another Pushover 2 may not be pushed, but it could become a flip-over with its high ground clearance at the sides and less-than-great manouverability!
The first melee features three spinners - Tempest Evil-er-ution (using 6cm teeth), Bender and MOE - how will axer Hacked Off Ha-ka fare?
3, 2, 1 - ACTIVATE!
Tempest Evil-er-ution and MOE both approached Bender, who backed off, while Hacked Off Ha-ka went for MOE from behind! Seeing Hacked Off Ha-ka coming, MOE reversed and scraped its blade along the front! As Ha-ka turned to use the axe, Bender went for a side attack, but Tempest intercepted it! Both robots became a blur - Tempest was fine when it stopped, just a bit scratched by Benders saw, but Benders left wheel had been hit and buckled, restricting movement! Tempest menacingly approached as Bender tried to escape, but it wasnt quick enough, and this time took a rear hit which caused Tempest to bounce off the wall and away! Soon returning, Tempest hit the damaged wheel again and flicked Bender into the wall itself! Bender was only twitching now, and could do little to prevent a fourth damaging blow from the fifth seed, which rendered it immobile! Meanwhile, Hacked Off Ha-ka and MOE had been battling - Hacked Off Ha-ka had missed the first axe blow, but retracted before MOE could disable its weapon, then brought it down again into MOEs top! As Tempest was occupied, it tried to take MOE to the arena disc, but MOE struggled and neither robot could gain the advantage! So Ha-ka retracted the axe then rushed to get MOE on its front wedge, but as it did, MOEs blade hit the wedge and it was able to drive off, then run the blade into the side! Hacked Off Ha-ka tried to catch it, but failed and took a few more dents!
At this point, Tempest Evil-er-ution appeared - thinking MOEs wheels looked tasty, it aimed for those! MOE turned round and whacked Tempest with its blade, sending both robots spinning off! Hacked Off Ha-ka ran towards MOE, who managed to meet it head on with its blade to avoid being caught by the axe, but this meant it couldnt defend itself quickly enough when Tempest came back and hit it right in the right side, slashing the wheels and knocking MOE up Ha-kas wedge! The axe came down, but MOEs blade hit the arena floor and knocked it off, and onto its back! Hacked Off Ha-ka turned before MOE could react, got it up the wedge and this time had a successful pin! Tempest approached carefully, then hit MOE in the left front wheel and blade, sending itself bouncing away again! Ha-ka joined in by taking MOE to the arena disc to damage the wheel some more, then bringing it back to Tempest for another strike! Following Tempest as it skimmed, Ha-ka could allow MOE another hit from the fifth seed quickly! The wheel was looking very battered, so Tempest next aimed for the rear left wheel, but hit Hacked Off Ha-kas wedge as well! When this happened again, Hacked Off Ha-ka risked releasing MOE to get a better grip!
MOE immediately drove off the wedge to try and escape both attackers - its blade hitting the floor again, it bounced, allowing Tempest Evil-er-ution to hit it in the rear wheel again! MOEs movement was now hindered by its damaged wheels, so Hacked Off Ha-ka easily gripped it with the axe again, and exposed it to Tempest to hit the right front wheel! Ha-ka again allowed the arena disc to contribute to MOEs punishment after this hit, then gave Tempest another shot before using the disc again! After Tempests next attack, Ha-ka retracted its axe to see MOEs condition, and found it was barely mobile! So it began axing the top, getting in a few strikes before Tempest hit the last wheel and knocked the slowing blade of MOE into Hacked Off Ha-ka! MOE moved slightly again, but when Tempest Evil-er-ution hit the wheel again, it didnt move anymore, and the two Vapourbots returned to their squares!
CEASE!
Bender and MOE are eliminated!
TEMPEST EVIL-ER-UTION AND HACKED OFF HA-KA GO THROUGH TO ROUND 2!
More variety in Melee 2 - spinner Warhead, flippers 2Blue and Iron Awe 3 and passive rammer Not Another Pushover 2!
3, 2, 1 - ACTIVATE!
As Warhead spun up its dome, 2Blue and Not Another Pushover 2 went for Iron Awe 3, who was forced to reverse! NAP2 was there first, and went into Iron Awe 3s side to shove it into the pit release! The impact knocked Iron Awe 3 and allowed it to quickly turn into NAP2s side and perform a flip, then run for the inverted wedge, but NAP2 escaped, and Iron Awe 3 was suddenly greeted by Warhead smacking it in the side! Running around the 21st seed, Iron Awe 3 managed to come under a wing while being glanced by the dome, and flip Warhead on its side towards NAP2, who had now attacked 2Blue, got under its side and was running it more carefully into the pit release! Iron Awe 3 advanced as NAP2 ran its victim towards the pit, managing to catch the rear and just tilt NAP2 a little, but it wasnt enough to save 2Blue, who was resting in the pit a second later! NAP2 now came back to Iron Awe 3, as did the selfrighted Warhead - Iron Awe 3 turned towards NAP2 first, but this exposed it to Warhead, who hit it in the side, and NAP2 at the same time! NAP2 quickly ran Iron Awe 3 into the wall, but the pit was already closed, and both robots took punishing blows from Warhead which separated them! Iron Awe 3 turned towards NAP2, but not quickly enough as the passive robot met it side on and pinned it in the pit corner! Warhead didnt go for the pit release, however, but went for the two again, so NAP2 wisely ran away, Iron Awe 3 still on its wedge, around the 21st seed to the pit release! Iron Awe 3 almost fell off NAP2 but still rested on its side, but firing its flipper, it fell off, forcing NAP2 to reverse before it could be flipped, and then take a rear hit from Warhead! Iron Awe 3 advanced, but NAP2 could still move quickly enough to catch it in the side and charge it into the pit, before diving in itself to avoid more punishment from Warhead!
CEASE!
2Blue and Iron Awe 3 are eliminated!
WARHEAD AND NOT ANOTHER PUSHOVER 2 GO THROUGH TO ROUND 2!
Heat C, Round 2:
Tempest Evil-er-ution (5) vs Not Another Pushover 2
Warhead (21) vs Hacked Off Ha-ka
Go for the wings. Keep pummeling them until they break, then slide under the high ground clearance and push them into discs, pits etc. If their discs have been allowed to spin up, well keep the wedge facing, as I think the gradient will restrict damage, and well slam the axe down on it in the process. Warhead will wish it was nuclear
NUTS!! Ah well, Bender was entered for fun but I hope this time my win-loss record doesnt consist of mostly losses. Well just wait & see what happens.
Wooty fights once more Mr. Southworth:)
Ill use the 6 CM teeth here. They wont bounce me off as much, but hell be sent spinning by the blows as well so it shouldnt be a problem.
Ill spin up ASAP (like theres a point doing owt else) and aim for the sides to try and break through and wreck his drive. I should be more manoueverable, so I think I can manage it.
...And if I win, Im expecting to see Hacked off Ha-Ka in the final. See you there Matty?:proud:
Whooo! :proud:
NAP2s first win! :)
Not Another Pushover 2s Tactics:
Get a quick aim on Tempest Evil-Outon when its by the pit, then give him a quick shove down the black hole, I might take damage inflicting it, so keep away from it unless its by the pit, thats where Ill get him! :proud:
...And if I win, Im expecting to see Hacked off Ha-Ka in the final. See you there Matty?:proud:
Go Richie! Go Richie! :proud:
HEAT C
ROUND 1
1) Not Another Pushover 2 VS Tempest Evil-er-oution (5)
Tricky...tricky...could probably go either way IMO...but since I need to make a choice, Ill take Tempest to win on Damage
2) Hacked Off Ha-ka VS Warhead (21)
Ill take the hammerbot to grab hold of Warhead and cast it into the Pit
If Heat D is on during the weekdays, my tactics with Killer B in Round 1 will be to push Starstorm 2 down the pit with......................Disco 5.
Moving on to Round 2, where Tempest Evil-er-ution is keeping its 6cm teeth to take on Not Another Pushover 2!
3, 2, 1 - ACTIVATE!
Rather than rush straight at Tempest Evil-er-ution, Not Another Pushover 2 went straight for the pit release and left the fifth seed to spin up, before waiting by the pit for an attack! But Frank was not pit-friendly, and just danced around while keeping well away! The pit soon closed, and NAP2 went for the release again, and waited, but with no result! When the pit closed, Tempest decided to advance as NAP2 approached the release again - the rammer tried to run round the spinner, but was hit along the side! This spun NAP2 into the pit release, and Tempest towards the pit! Instantly NAP2 charged, but Tempest ran! Catching up, NAP2 ran into Tempest to try and bounce it towards the pit, but they were some distance from it and Tempest didnt go in! It quickly scarpered as NAP2 accelerated again, and managed to avoid it until the pit closed. It then attacked again while NAP2 reversed, driving it to the wall! NAP2 moved back towards the pit release, and Tempest hit it in the side again, bouncing off the wall and away from the pit! NAP2 tried moving behind Tempest again and recieved another side hit for its troubles!
However, after spinning around and hitting the wall, Not Another Pushover 2 was in the right position to ram Tempest towards the pit, and it did so, but again Tempest stopped short and NAP2 spun out of control for a moment! Tempest ran away from the pit, but NAP2 reversed to catch it, then try following it as it bounced, but by the time it caught up, the pit was closed again! It still hit Tempest head on however, almost sending it into the wall! Tempest moved back towards NAP2 as it spun around and hit the inverted wedge, making another dent in the scratched titanium! Regaining control, NAP2 rammed back into the pit release, as Tempest approached from behind, and as NAP2 tried getting around it again, it whacked the rammer against the wall, then glanced it as it tried to escape another blow! A good run brought NAP2 behind Tempest and it rammed, bouncing the fifth seed towards the north wall! Spinning against the east wall, NAP2 reversed to bounce Tempest some more - it went into the wall, regained control quickly, chased Tempest and bashed it again, bringing it close to the pit! Now away from the wall, NAP2 took longer to get its bearings, allowing Tempest to distance itself from the pit! Another ram from the increasingly dented NAP2 brought it close again, but then the pit closed! This meant NAP2 had to reverse into the release yet again, but Tempest had already had time to escape! NAP2 chased it without making contact and tried to lure it towards the pit, and made some progress, but Tempest refrained from getting too close, and so the now hard-working pit was closed again!
Once this had happened, Tempest Evil-er-ution tried to strike Not Another Pushover 2 again in the sides - herding it into the pit corner, it aimed, but NAP2 hit it with the front, bouncing it into the wall, then back into NAP2, then into the wall again! With its ring slowed, Tempest ran, and NAP2 excitedly chased it, but the ring was soon up to dangerous speed again and swatted NAP2 away! Tempest moved towards the rammer again, then moved away when it went for the pit release again! Once the release had been pressed, NAP2 ran back towards Tempest and tried to lure it into the pit zone again, this time making less progress than before. But once the pit was closed, Tempest could hit NAP2 in its front/right side corner, then again along the left side! But it had brought itself into the pit zone, and NAP2 moved again towards the release, causing the fifth seed to retreat again! NAP2 ran after it and managed to give it a forceful nudge which bounced it toward the pit! NAP2 charged once it had stopped spinning, and at the last second, Tempest dodged, hitting the corner, and both robots almost went into the pit! Deciding it was too risky to try and knock NAP2 in, Tempest retreated with NAP2 rushing after it, but failing to get behind it before the pit was closed again! As Not Another Pushover 2 made another familiar move towards the release, the buzzer sounded - the second judges decision of VFT6 would decide this one!
CEASE!
Aggression: Tempest - 4, NAP2 - 6 (NAP2 was a bit more aggressive, as Tempest did a bit more running away and NAP2 was charging a lot)
Damage: Tempest - 10, NAP2 - 0 (all the damage in this fight was caused by Tempest)
Strategy: Tempest - 3, NAP2 - 7 (NAP2 had a lot more strategy with using the pit in various ways, while Tempest had less strategy (aiming for the sides of NAP2) but more success)
Control: Tempest - 5, NAP2 - 5 (both robots displayed equal control)
Style: Tempest - 8, NAP2 - 2 (Tempest bouncing and spinning NAP2 around was more stylish than NAP2s passive ramming)
Dominance: Tempest - 3, NAP2 - 7 (NAP2 got in more rams than Tempest did spinner attacks)
Total Score: Tempest Evil-er-ution - 33, Not Another Pushover 2 - 27
TEMPEST EVIL-ER-UTION GOES THROUGH TO THE HEAT FINAL!
Now will we see some whacking from Warhead or hacking from Hacked Off Ka-ka?
3, 2, 1 - ACTIVATE!
Warhead moved away from the quick advance of Hacked Off Ha-ka to get the dome spinning, then came back towards it! Hacked Off Ha-ka continued to face Warhead until impact, when it brought its axe down! As Warhead was shifted to one side by the collision, the axe didnt touch the dome as it pinned into the armour! Ha-ka moved Warhead towards the wall, then released the axe and began to pummel the right wing mercilessly! But Warhead retracted its wings and began lowering itself off the wedge onto the arena floor, then turned around and hit Hacked Off Ha-ka in the side, knocking it into the wall and spinning itself around as well! Ha-ka followed it and managed to come into the side to use the axe on the wing again! Warhead turned to try and hit the axe, which was retracted just in time, causing another nasty blow to the front wedge! As the two robots met again, Warheads dome hit the front while Ha-kas axe came down over the right wing, preventing the 21st seed from spinning away! The axe was retracted again and Ha-ka reversed - as Warhead approached, the newcomer ran round it, but the real robot turned to face it! Eventually, Hacked Off Ha-ka just ran its dented wedge into the dome again and brought the axe down on the top, trapping Warhead again!
Shifting carefully into a better position closer to the side, Hacked Off Ha-ka carried Warhead into the arena disc, which caused both robots to fly and left a gash in Warheads left wing! Ha-ka took the 21st seed in again, this time having the disc injure the rear tail! It then took Warhead into the wall again and began to hammer the right wing, slowly and agonisingly bending it, and in turn restricting the left wing, giving Warhead little means of escape! Thirty seconds passed and Hacked Off Ha-ka had to release the 21st seed, whose right wing was now bent downwards and incapable of movement! But with its weapon still going, it was ready to attack! So was Hacked Off Ha-ka, who charged into the dome and brought the axe down, but Warhead spun away too quickly to be pinned! It went into the wall and bounced back into Hacked Off Ha-ka, before coming to a stop! With the dome having to spin up again, Ha-ka caught it in the side and used the axe to capture it! Next stop was the pit release, and the pit, but as Warhead went down, it managed to give Hacked Off Ha-ka one last blow which spun it away, although it didnt stop the 21st seed from being eliminated!
CEASE!
HACKED OFF HA-KA GOES THROUGH TO THE HEAT FINAL!
Heat C Final:
Tempest Evil-er-ution (5) vs Hacked Off Ha-ka
Heat final prediction. Tempest evil-er-ution to meet an early end in the pit
One good thing off being away because of the stupid internet connection (note to self, set-up AOL broadband asap) is that you come back to a lot of wooty fights :)
Tempest Evileroution to spin to victory once more.
Right, were going to use similar tactics as to warhead, Keep chargin with the wedge and hope that the angles will once again stop them doing any more than scraping it. Well then slide underneath, slam the axe down, and keep the axe in until theyve stopped spinning. From there, well try and puncture the tyres, even if theyre stuffed, theyre damageable, before trying to pit them. That way, if we fail, weve at least done damage, and theyll have less mobility. The top 7mm aluminium shouldnt prove too much of an issue either. If for any reason they wont go down the pit, well keep boxrushing them at the walls, and break them that way.
Ergh. Ill use the 15.5 CM teeth here to give me that bit of extra reach and hopefully strike him before he can get close enough to use the axe. In order for him to hit me, the axe must reach at least 16 CMs away from the front of the machine.
Other than that, basic tactics. Spin, keep away from the pit and try to murder. Hey, it doesnt get me any strategy points but the extra bounce should make up with style:)
Good luck Matty, I think youre going to you first semi.
So, for the first time in VFT6, we could have an unseeded robot in the semis. But will Hacked Off Ha-ka be tough enough to tame Tempest Evil-er-ution (using 15.5cm teeth)?
3, 2, 1 - ACTIVATE!
Like Warhead before it, Tempest Evil-er-ution was forced to run as Hacked Off Ha-ka rushed towards it, and was soon up to speed. A moment later, the two robots collided - Ha-kas axe came down, but Tempest hit the front wedge and sent it spinning off course, into the wall! After its bounce, Tempest came back towards Ha-ka, who swerved to dodge, then try and run Tempest into the wall! Tempest bounced some distance before striking the wall and coming close to the pit - it quickly retreated from that area to meet Ha-ka again! Facing the fifth seed but a short distance away, Hacked Off Ha-ka attacked with its axe, hitting the aluminium top and putting a dent in it! It got in another quick blow before Tempest got out of range and went for the side! Swerving around, Ha-ka rushed into Tempest with its wedge, bouncing it into the wall again, then charging after it once it had stopped spinning itself! It brought the axe down over Tempest before contact - Tempest was up to speed again so Ha-ka couldnt get underneath, and it spun Ha-ka away with the impact! The two robots soon came together again, and Ha-ka brought its axe onto Tempests top again, managing to hit the left wheel, cutting it a little! Tempest dodged, but Hacked Off Ha-ka followed it and continued putting more dents into the aluminium, until Tempest moved into the damaged front wedge of its opponent, damaged it some more, and sent Hacked Off Ha-ka off course again!
Hacked Off Ha-ka moved closer to the wall, and Tempest Evil-er-ution followed it, before Ha-ka quickly moved in and skimmed the fifth seed into the wall, then reversed after it! Getting in close as Tempest skimmed, it brought the axe into the wheel again and hammered mercilessly, then reversed as Tempest moved towards it! It went back towards the wall, but Tempest was more cautious - it danced around a little, taunting Hacked Off Ha-ka, then came in carefully - but still couldnt avoid being manouvered into the wall and bouncing off! Being knocked against the wall by impact so it stopped spinning, Ha-ka was quickly able to follow, and continue assaulting the top! Having to reverse again to avoid an impact from Tempest, it continued axing, into the right wheel! Eventually, Tempest managed to glance the side of the wedge and remove Ha-ka from play for a moment! Once on course again, Hacked Off Ha-ka charged Tempest at its position near the wall, and its wounded front wedge still knocked the fifth seed into the wall! Ha-ka reversed after it and turned to use the axe, but Tempest was already driving again and hit it in the left side! Once under control, Ha-ka reversed towards the advancing Tempest again, and when it turned and Tempest attacked, the fifth seed just missed and Hacked Off Ha-ka could hit the left wheel with its axe again, but failed to properly damage it!
Tempest Evil-er-ution again escaped by hitting Hacked Off Ha-ka in the side of the wedge and knocking it and itself away! Ha-ka moved close to the wall again - Tempest carefully moved around it, aiming to hit side on. Ha-ka reversed as the fifth seed attacked, but it wasnt fast enough and it was whacked against the wall itself, the right side panel now peeling a little! Staying close to the wall, it waited as Tempest came in again, and this time managed to send it into the wall while its out of shape front wedge was just pierced! Tempests long teeth were a little bent by the impacts, but it was still going fine, although it quickly paused when Ha-ka went for the pit release and came towards it to try and get it in! Tempest reversed, keeping ahead of Hacked Off Ha-ka until the pit closed, then it advanced! But Ha-ka also brought the axe down over Tempest and tried to bring the strip on the wedge under again, but again it was spun around, the wound in the wedge opened, and Tempest was released from the grip! Angrily, Ha-ka went for Tempest again, knocking it into the south wall and sending it bouncing towards the west one, which Ha-ka just managed to bounce it into! Once it stopped bouncing, Tempest came back towards Hacked Off Ha-ka and got the axe treatment in its armour again, more dents being smacked into the aluminium! Ha-ka managed to avoid an attempted hit and carry on axing, and when Tempest tried to escape, it could hit the left wheel again, causing small wounds in it! Tempest got away, and Ha-ka reversed away from it, landing two blows with the axe before time ran out!

LMAO!
Oh, no! What a laugh, but I think Im going home now:proud:
