Not going to expose the wheels again, are you?
Cant wait to see the new Gravity on the go.
Mr Stu
Kody, yes I am.
If you watch the footage of me against Tornado, you will see they punctured the tires from underneath. I cant cover the wheels from underneath, cause that way the wheels wouldnt touch the floor anymore. I dont really care about flat tires, the air in the tires protect the rest from the robot from self induced shock damage...
But then your wheels will be fodder for horizontal spinning weapons. And when theyre ripped off...thats just as bad as a flat tire...unless youre planning to use a good quality rubber? :)
And I know full well what happened in the Tornado vid, thank you. It was 13 Black that said that they were going to smash the wheels off in S7.. (I know they didnt but still...)
Hey, the wheels were protected in S7 :) A full cm of polycarbonate, and a few angles of carefully bashed 3mm stainless ;)
I dont think the backside of the robot is so important. Its the front side of the robot facing the opponent anyway...
Im not going to protect wheels any better because someone says theyre gonna shred them...
Okay then. It looks like youve taken out some pretty good spinners anyway so my point is pretty much moot by now. :) Good luck with G5! :)
Some people go for the- armour the back end heavily, then ram the spinner with the back aproach, I dont see the point.
Make the front end exstra beefy so you can get the weapon in, a flat piece of armour isnt going to hurt anyone.
Hint to the spinner guys- Turbulences back end is only 2.5mm steel :)
Look forward to fighting the new Gravity WJ, i saw on the DRG forum ages ago people were compairing Turb to the old Gravity, I think- couldnt read it very well lol
Dave, we should be fighting in an arena were ootas are impossible. With angled walls (from about 50 cm and up) and everytime a robot goes over that ridge the other robot gets a point ;)
Fights get much more fun that way!
I did have some bad news, the hardox we bought wasnt hardox, so Im probably going back to 3mm stainless. Well see what the junkyard will come up with :)
Dave, we should be fighting in an arena were ootas are impossible.
Good, fights will last abit longer lol
Dave, we should be fighting in an arena were ootas are impossible.
Itll be a giant pit theyre fighting in then. :proud:
yeah, why not? I dont see how 2 high-powered flippers can go at it for 3 minutes, without 1 of the robots getting under the other one, drive for 1 second and push the button...
Which almost all the time ends in the robot that was given the ride going oota.
even in the robotwars arena it can be all over in 6 seconds ;)
even in the robotwars arena it can be all over in 6 seconds ;)
I bet you felt pretty smug with yourselves after that match.
hehe :)
Yeah, but I wouldve like it better if me and mike could just fight it out for the full 5 minutes... But due to robotwars at that moment was winning more important than having fun. Though I did have fun winning ;)
Aye, I can understand that, I would of liked to see you and Mike fight it out for 5 minutes, to see who could flip who and how many times, plus, the spectacular flippers in both machines would have shown some great flips.
fter all, Dantomkia defeated my favourite robot of all time, Chaos 2, in the fastest time on record, until you came along that is. :P
Hows Gravity(soon to be)5 coming along? :)
Do you know what I find interesting about that?
Well, as we all know, Dantomkia flipped Chaos 2 OOTA in the bottom right hand corner of the arena (looking at it with the stage facing the front), which was kinda fitting if somewhat embarrasing.
Also, it later flipped Hypno-Disc OOTA from the same corner.
And where did Gravity flip Dantomkia OOTA from? Moreorless, the SAME corner! Talk about a dose of your own medicene!
Remember where Gravity flipped 13-Black out of the arena ?
Indeed, exactly the same spot ;)
And Kody, currently VERY busy with finishing my RB25DET powered Nissan S13 for the next drifting championship... Which starts 3-4 march. After that hopefully I can get some time in for G5. Also hopefully moving house somewhere this year, could interfere with my tight timing schedule...
oh, and its gonna be a red wedge again ;)
I just want you to know, that Gravity is easily my favourite international robot. Random, but it is true.
thank you ;)
even though the original is already 4 years old... the new bot will be built in the same way, only better :)
why not set up the new robot to drift aswell?
Why ?
Like Team Mutant Robots middleweight Root Canal? Thats an interesting idea James. :)
http://www.mutantrobots.comhttp://www.mutantrobots.com
I think theres some info on Root Canal there.
Razer can drift, slides the back end out like a Bi*ch.
Handbrakes + icey, empty car parks is fun to :)
Always liked Nissan S13s. Cheap and RWD. Got any pics of urse?
why?
why drift cars.... because its fun :)
If you can get the robot to smoke tyres and spit flames aswell, even better :)
James, smoking tyres and spitting flames wont make me win a fight ;)
Dave, just for you :

a transit van is interesting when you do this in the snow, as i found out this morning :)
i like to put the handbrake on, the lock the steering to one side and go flat out in reverse to do nice reverse donuts.
clearly time for another gokart social....
but thats another thread :)
ordered : 1x sidewinder :)
Found a skip full of metal stuff near the local moffet factory, should give me enough metal to build G5 :)
Hows it coming along William? :)
sold the sidewinder again
Not doing anything on it, the driftcar is taking alot of time, will build a featherweight first (elevation).
So will be 2008 when G5 will be ready... If funds allow ofcourse.
Shame. Oh well, hope everything goes okay for you.
Id be more than willing to help you with some funds, WJ. :)
making them disappear, I bet ;)
Haha :proud:
But seriously, I could exchange currencies and ship over some dough for you, if you need it.
If only anyone was that generous with money to me...
Kody, I could use some dough (actually, alot of it) but I dont think I should be taking your moneyz just like that ;)
I might build it (after the driftcar is ready) and attend a uk event, maybe Ill get back to you then :)
Roger that, WJ.
still no updates.
Carry on :)
