Re: The Crash & Burn Mini-Tournament of Death 4
Oooooooooooo...one second quicker, and only one of my target robots would've been out :proud:
Ah well, never mind, awesome fight - as in, OMG, IT'S AWESOME :proud: - and I came first in the JD. I feel proud. Well done AJ for making it through with me.
Re: The Crash & Burn Mini-Tournament of Death 4
And to finish the Round 1 fights...
Melee 2
Traffic Warden vs. Cobalt vs. Equinox vs. Assegai
From Glasgow in Scotland...Traffic Warden!
(created by Steven McGregor)
A U-shaped horizontal clamper, with two hydraulic rams powering the clamps towards 10 tonnes of squeeze. Has torque to spare, and also decent armour, but is very vulnerable to wedging.
From Gainsborough...Cobalt!
(created by Frank Goacher)
A box-wedge clad in Hardox, with A28-400 Ampflow motors powering 2WD, and a nasty disc-on-wedge to shred tires and undersides. The dimensions however rival some lightweights in size...
From Liverpool...Equinox!
(created by Lewis Matthews)
Another compact machine in the form of a box with wedges on the front and sides, a pointed rear, and weapons synergy in the form of long lifting forks, barbs, and a clamping arm. It's also armoured well and drives well.
From King's Cross in London...Assegai!
(created by Zarte Siempre)
4WD box with an unusual weapon: a battering ram held by cables, essentially turning it into a double-rammer. Its motors provide sufficient shove, and it has good armour, but like Traffic Warden above, lack of wedge protection ails it.
Roboteers, stand by...
House robots, indeed, are Asterix Anarchius and Matilda.

Equinox is out of its spot like a shot, and heads towards Traffic Warden, who is too cumbersome to avoid the charge and is swiftly gotten under! The huge horizontal clamps come into play...or do they? Does it even look like it's clamping? Equinox definitely is though, as the comes down on the middle of Traffic Warden's body and the forks start to lift it...Cobalt meanwhile is dealing with Assegai, who is looking to get to Cobalt's sides, but Cobalt is doing a pretty good job of protecting them. Eventually Zarte has to bit the bullet and come flying into Cobalt's front, but the ram within hits the disc and sends both robots flying! Assegai lands on an arena spike and gets poked a few times, and Cobalt nearly is roasted by the flame pit, but goes after Assegai again. Driving by them is Equinox with a clamped Traffic Warden, and within seconds the pit release is activated. Not loosening the grip one bit, Equinox heads straight towards the descending platform and deposits Traffic Warden, as it dangles a bit - OH NO!!! Equinox has...fallen into the pit!!! How on...let's have a replay of this...okay, Equinox dangles Traffic Warden over the pit, but Traffic Warden balanced completely on the forks, and then...quite simply, unbalanced like a scale, with the fulcrum of balance quite obviously over the pit, tipping Equinox up by the forks and making it fall in with it!!! What a horrible display!!! It appears Lewis isn't too displeased as he is roaring with laughter with the outcome, but this means Assegai and Cobalt, having done very little, go through! Shocking indeed, and the house robots aren't happy about their total lack of action!
CEASE!
Traffic Warden's progress goes from green light to red light, while the Equinox's time has come!

Round 2
Exertion II vs. Cobalt
Blast vs. Assegai
Re: The Crash & Burn Mini-Tournament of Death 4
Exertion II vs. Cobalt
My plan here will be to use my speed advantage to get around the back of Cobalt and exploit that 30mm high rear ground clearance. Once there, my aim is to lift it up off the ground with my lifting wedge. Cobalt's wheels are positioned right at the back, so once it has been lifted up from the rear, it's not going anywhere. Then I can either feed it to the house robots and the arena hazards or try to get it down the pit. If Cobalt does manage to get under me, my wheels should be tough enough to survive any impacts, but hopefully I should be quick enough to avoid that anyway.
Good luck, Frank. :)
Re: The Crash & Burn Mini-Tournament of Death 4
With Exertion vs. Cobalt, it REALLY will depend on how often Frank could've :lame: got under the ramming wonder; if it's many, then I predict Cobalt to wina JD on damage/strategy, and if not, he will be pitted.
Now for me   I really like this match-up. For many reasons. Firstly, Blast is designed to fight skirted machine, hence the scoop designed to pierce skirts with the spikes built in, secondly, I am 8mph (roughly) faster than the opponent, which while it may worsen control :talker: it also means that his weapon may be useless, as whenever he'll rear up for a run, I can just ram in before he has momentum. On the subject of the weapon, as a concept I love in :proud: I mean that; I love the originality of it, and also the way it can affect the opponent. However, if Blast can take being hit by House Robots and the destructive Eye Of Ran II with minimal damage, I think that weapon won't trouble me TOO much.
Main plan (and only) is the hit him in the front around the battering ram, get under the skirtless machine with easy ground clearance to deal with :proud: shunt him to the edge and get rid via OOTA. If I can't get him over the fence, give him to the house robots to damage him.
Good luck Matty, and here's hoping Kody writes a fight that sees 2 of my machines in the final :uhoh: WHAT HAS THE WORLD COME TO, WHEN I'M IN THE FINAL :uhoh: :uhoh:

Exertion II vs. Cobalt

It's Exertion that makes the first move, getting around the front of Cobalt, but finds the Team Bored robot can easily keep up with it with its 24v motors! There is much circling, all that work being done by Exertion II, but a steady pace in return is presented by Cobalt, as the wedge keeps itself in line with Exertion's moves. Eventually catching Exertion off-guard, Frank moves forwards and manages to get his wedge underneath Exertion's side, and the disc begins to shred...there is not nearly enough power to even scratch the 10mm Ti/V clad about Exertion's chassis, but getting deeper underneath Andy's robot, Cobalt's disc catches Exertion's right-rear wheel and now begins to shred...only for the disc to throw Exertion off suddenly! Andy makes quite the most of this, as his wheel seems to be okay, and Exertion zooms straight around, under Cobalt's rear, and throws him into Growler's CPZ with a long extended run! But what a stunner...the wedge of Cobalt manages to get underneath Growler's lower jaw! Only a bit, though, as Growler hits the disc, takes absolutely minimal damage and stopping the disc, and moves Cobalt further up onto Exertion...now piggy-backing the box, Cobalt tries to drive off, but Exertion with another extended running start mashes him right into the pit release button, not only activating the release button, but releasing the signage from the button itself! :proud: Cobalt bounces...but is now on the wedge of Exertion, and definitely not a good place to be now! Exertion goes up with the lifter, all while driving Cobalt forward, and manages to roll Cobalt onto its back! Frank's there with the srimech, but the pit is so near - NO!! Cobalt rights itself and barely escapes a pitting!! But Andy's not done yet!! Exertion turns and catches Cobalt's side as the latter tries to get away!! Up with the lifter, and Cobalt's on its side!! Now Exertion pushes Cobalt onto its back, right in front of the pit!! But already the srimech is - aaah!!! That's it!! Cobalt pitted!! What a finisher that was! Frank just could not escape the pit and his robot ended up down in it! Goodness me! Well done, Exertion.
CEASE!
Cobalt 'cobbles' back to Gainsborough on a broken whim! :proud:

This for the last place in the Annihilator, and already Blast is proving to be the better of the two early on, getting straight under Assegai - ahhh...the ram came into play and knocked Blast back. It didn't really do much to Blast though, let's be honest, and now Paul takes advantage by getting Assegai before it can charge in again, and - goodness me, what power! Assegai must have flown about 11 feet into the air! It's landed upside-down, I believe, but Paul isn't letting up! Already it's back under the boxy machine and shoving it towards Exa-Gore-Ic Evo...ooh, good move...and not flipping, Blast backs off as the massive pincers of Exa-Gore-Ic clamp on the 7mm titanium body shell of Assegai, and the punching spike of the house robot beats on the hapless competitor! How...ironic, a puncher getting punched...Blast meanwhile has hit the pit release button, and down goes the pit but honestly I doubt he'll need it. Now Assegai is released but look at the marks on the back...Assegai is really up against it here, and indeed up against the scoop again - Blast is again knocked back...the battering ram powered by gravity, so captain Zarte Siempre says, but gravity is working against him here!!! That's another massive flip!! OOH, what an impact. Surely the collisions are taking their toll on the machine from King's Cross, but Assegai is away, and now...around the pit. Hmm, I believe we have a game of cat and mouse here. Of course he's not getting any points for simply hanging here - no, Paul isn't falling for it. Knowing nothing really magical is happening, Assegai makes for the saws now, but Blast intercepts - and he's gone!! What a throw!! Zarte meant to lure Paul towards the saws, but Blast got right in under him before Assegai got there, up went the scoop, and out went Assegai, straight out of the arena, what a powerful flipper! We'll be seeing more of Blast later, as he has a spot in the Annihilator Final!
CEASE!
Assegai gets the arse beaten off of him!
Blast advances to the Annihilator Final!

Well, that's finalized our Annihilator, hasn't it? Out of 24 robots, only 6 remain. And one-by-one, they will fall until we have a MToD4 winner! Presenting:
The Crash & Burn Mini-Tournament of Death 4 - Annihilator Final
S.O.T.A.R. vs. Vertigo vs. Empty Inside vs. Harraz vs. Exertion II vs. Blast
Predictions, tactics and all that snazzy jazz! :proud:
Re: The Crash & Burn Mini-Tournament of Death 4
 !!WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!
Great fights there written very quickly, can say I am greatly impressed Mr Kody for your services to this tournument :talker: Well done to Matty for making an interesting robot that people shall rip off for years to come.
The Crash & Burn Mini-Tournament of Death 4 - Annihilator Final
S.O.T.A.R. vs. Vertigo vs. Empty Inside vs. Harraz vs. Exertion II vs. Blast
The great thing about both my choices for the final here is that they don't HAVE to work as a team-up, because they can work equally as effective mano-a-mano. And the mix of machines here provides me with some hope that I'll be fine for the first few rounds. The most dangerous machines I can see in this arena are Vertigo, Empty Inside (due to their OOTAing capacity) and S.O.T.A.R (due to it's extreme damage potential). I'm not writing off Exertion AT ALL, but as far as KOing is concerned, I have little to be in fear of. Due to this fact, I will divide the fighting for each of my machines: Blast will take on S.O.T.A.R, as due to the front armour, it's the best to scoop and get rid either way, combined with the speed to make it quick to stop the spinning of said machine. He will also take on Vertigo/Empty Inside, for the same reasons of 'getting rid' in mind. Harraz will take on fellow rammer Exertion, as with better power/traction, I can try stacking him against the side and getting rid that way, or by pitting. He will also take on whichever on Blast doesn't go for :proud:
Good luck to Lian, Lewis, Tracy and AJ, hope this goes amazing
Re: The Crash & Burn Mini-Tournament of Death 4
My plan: Survive, any fancy a team up on Vertigo?
Re: The Crash & Burn Mini-Tournament of Death 4
thanks Lian :lame:  you should head over to MM3.0 and give tactics btw, fights will be written soon.
I'm open for team-ups, if not my plan is to try and stay out of danger and get a sneaky OOTA on someone else while their attacking another bot. If I face a big team up then go for Empty Inside, seen as he's the instigator :P
Re: The Crash & Burn Mini-Tournament of Death 4
S.O.T.A.R. vs. Vertigo vs. Empty Inside vs. Harraz vs. Exertion II vs. Blast
Since Harraz is targeting me, I may as well fight it head-to-head. Paul claims to have more power and traction, but that's no use if I lift his wheels up off the ground using my wedge. If I can manage that, the plan will be the same as it was against Cobalt - push it into the house robots, the hazards, or S.O.T.A.R. :proud:
