Maybe, Ill need to give Storm Force to Jonno before if I am going. Because we have quite small cars and it weighs a lot. Itll still be mine though and it will mean Ill go to more events:)
I take it not the WT however.
I dont know Im afraid.
I had my 2 of my mums colleagues over with their families last night for a meal and one of her colleagues has a son who is in his 20s and his friend was there too. They both do engineering and they really loved seeing Storm Force I have to say. The friend is going to start as a teacher at a school in Edinburgh and he says maybe sometime I could bring SF down there with Pug and entertain the kiddies!
Doesnt sound like a bad idea to me, watch this space in the future!
I recently did a presetation on robots in school... :\
Liam, just a word of warning. Doing these displays for scout groups and schools etc, Ive done a few with DB5 and Apoc. You have to be careful not to get carried away with the moment. Just be careful, especially with the heavies, they should be static only unless a suitable arena or area can be provided. The public shouldnt ever come into contact with an active robot.
Sorry if I sound a bit harsh, but things can go wrong even with a machine you know like the back of your hand. But having said that if you cant show these things off to people whats the point in having them.
I would echo Eds comments. Having done several public displays with typhoon 2 the one question that always gets asks is if we can run it and spin it.
Never run a robot unless there is a suitable arena or similar. Even if you are running a robot on the bench a chain can snap, whip out and seriously hurt someone.
Its sad but in our world of health and safety someone could probably sue you if they cut a finger on the edge of your machine.
Thats one thing I prefer about the Czech Republic, the attitude of if you are stupid enough to put your hand into something that moves well best of luck to you
Yeah, dont worry Ed, Ill do my best to take care.
Lol, when i presented Trauma to my previous school in year 6, i didnt have to worry about any of that, because he was small, the weapon was a petit flipper, and i wouldnt even turn on a shiney surface! XD
Im trying to thinl of a use for Traumas old shell.
Update time once again!:
Gave Storm Force some TLC in my garage and twisted its front back into shape and also one of the corners of the side panels. I also came to trying it out but couldnt seem to run it. Ill hopefully get the step-by-step guide from Jonno in time before Barnsley. But other than that, its looking good!
